Overview

The Flamethrower is an incredibly powerful Weapon that is often under-utilized by Dooley. This is because many of Dooley's archetypes aren't focused on scaling Damage, and those that do have inherent scaling built-in to the item itself.

For example, Combat Core scales its Damage whenever you use an item to the left of it. It doesn't actually care about whether your other items have Damage-increasing effects.

Similarly, items like Bellelista or Bill Dozer gain Damage when you Haste or use another Friend. Again, neither ask for other Damage directly.

Flamethrower on the other hand specifically needs a direct Damage boost in order to be useful. This is where Mech-Moles comes in.

The latest patch doubled its originally low scaling values, making Mech-Moles have some solid potential. So long as you can support it, it can support the rest of your board!

The Dual-Scaling Friend

One big advantage of Mech-Moles is that it simultaneously scales both Damage and Shield. This means you can take advantage of offensive and defensive items that greatly benefit from improved stats.

Flamethrower and Duct Tape are premium targets for buffs, allowing Mech-Moles to create somewhat of a balanced hybrid strategy. Its effectiveness does very much rely on Haste, so you're going to want either the Companion Core or Metronome in order to maintain a persistent loop of scaling.

Flamethrower

Flamethrower is the key source of Damage. Its ability to convert Damage into insane amounts of Burn makes it the perfect item to scale with Mech-Moles. Be sure to prioritize its upgrades, as getting it to Diamond tier will double its Damage, which also factors in all scaling that it receives during the fight.

Kripp enchanted the Flamethrower with Fiery, effectively making it have 4x the Burn (since Diamond already doubles). This is a huge increase to its output, and can really help ensure the first cast already applies a fast clock.

Companion Core

Companion Core is definitely the priority choice of Cores as it's one of the most reliable sources of Haste. It should be placed between the Mech-Moles and Flamethrower as those are the two most impactful items of the build, other than itself.

During the later part of Kripp's run he managed to enchant a Bootstraps with Fiery. This randomly applied the Fiery enchant to the Companion Core. Given that Flamethrower is the main source of Burn, this is by no means necessary, so don't make it a priority.

Duct Tape

Duct Tape is the primary Shield item of the build, although it won't perform quite as well compared to other Dooley builds. This is because it's unable to be placed adjacent to the core, and so it will be triggered far less often overall.

Despite its less amount of uses, you're not going to find another Shield item that can outperform Duct Tape, especially for its size. Plus the amount of scaling it receives from Mech-Moles is quite strong, meaning when it does proc, it'll Shield for a lot!

Supportive Items and Skills

Scaleable Friends

Chris Army Knife and Wallace are both Damage/Shield items that fulfill the Friend tag for Companion Core. While not particularly effective on their own, with scaling from Mech-Moles they become quiet decent.

Energy Potion

Energy Potion acts as a one-time-use board-wide Haste. With a four second Cooldown it will often trigger before everything else, letting the build have a jumpstart to start scaling and chaining together.

It was also enchanted with Fiery thanks to the Bootstraps. Again, not at all necessary for the build.

Firepower

Firepower is an extremely efficient Damage scaling skill that's exclusive to Dooley. In addition to the Haste that Companion Core provides, this is the other key reason why its placed adjacent to both Mech-Moles and Flamethrower.

Combined with Mech-Moles this is what can quickly escalate Flamethrower to absurd levels of Burn. There's a very good chance your opponent will be completely roasted by the time the second use goes off.

Titanium Casing

Titanium Casing is the Firepower equivalent for Shield, except it doesn't require any specific positioning. It's one of the best ways to scale Duct Tape, and it'll also get extra value with this build as it uses additional Shield Friends.

Aside from Firepower, this is definitely the next most reliable skill worth picking up. Considering that many skills now have limited uses, Titanium Casing can really help ensure you won't be out-scaled in a fight.

Liquid Cooled

Liquid Cooled is a reliable source of Freeze that doesn't have any specific ability restrictions. Since most Freeze skills either require executing a certain effect, Liquid Cooled only cares about using the Core.

It's essentially Coolant Leak with extra uses, freedom of positioning, but limited to Small or Medium items. And since Freeze skills can stack with each other, having this Dooley-exclusive is a nice benefit if you're trying to get multiples to lock down the enemy.
