Overview

The redesign and rarity downshift of Forklift has brought a once underutilized item onto the surface. Previously, it was awkward as it just didn't fit very well with Dooley's core game plan.

Now with its accessibility increased, alongside a large amount of added tags, Forklift can become quite the powerhouse.

Let's dive in as we break down how to assemble this machine.

Core Combos and Synergies

Forklift

When assembling a Forklift build there are two main objectives you're looking to fulfill. First and foremost, you'll need items with the applicable type tags. Then, it's about finding the fastest items at your disposal.

Acquiring items with the Tech, Weapon, and Friend tag are all extremely easy to get as Dooley. Tools are easy enough to find as well, and have become more common after the Dinosaur Expansion.

As for Apparel, at the time of writing this there are currently no Small Dooley items with the Apparel tag. While you can make use of a Medium one, you're much better off with literally any random Small one in order to preserve board space. The Curio actually has a handful of junk Apparel available, so be sure to check there.

Early on it's not as crucial to hit all five tags, but do look to pickup the other four ASAP. Chris Army Knife alone can cover 4/5, making Forklift easily usable right out of the gate. As for what goes adjacent to it, generally just use whatever's fastest.

Be sure to make it a priority to upgrade the Forklift whenever possible. The Damage scaling from Bronze to Silver is absolutely massive in the early game, and the Charge speed makes a big difference as well.

Kripp enchanted his Forklift with Obsidian, doubling its Damage. It's definitely worth making offensive enchants a priority, as the one thing that Forklift builds lack is any form of scaling. It's all about raw Damage and speed.

Atomic Clock

Atomic Clock is the fastest item in the game and pairs perfectly with Forklift. It's the most reliable way to jumpstart those Charges while also disrupting the opponent in the process. However, you'll need to do a little more work to truly make the most of the Clock.

Look for opportunities to acquire off-class items and/or skills that can expand (or Reload) Atomic Clock's Ammo. This makes a huge difference in the long run when your Atomic Clock can disrupt more than its initial three uses.

Many of these come from specific PvE Encounters, but you may also come across them at Pearl's Digsite, or other rare Merchants which sell outside of your Hero's item pool. Don't forget to take any random Loot items you can (Silver+ tier) to hopefully acquire some Gunpowder.

While a Silver Atomic Clock is equally as fast, upgrading it makes a considerable difference when it comes to its disruption. Stacking up longer increased Cooldown amounts can really dismantle an opposing board, and even more so when you have extra Ammo.

Uzi

Speaking of fast items, Uzi is one of the most common ones available early on. This is an immediate purchase and will help reliably fuel the Forklift during the early to mid game. If found at Bronze, be sure to get it to at least Silver as the extra two Ammo helps a lot.

Uzi is still a solid option in the late game if you don't find better alternatives, but make sure to upgrade it further for more Ammo.

Supportive Items and Skills

Soldering Gun

Soldering Gun fits well into the build as a Small Multicast item that Charges Forklift. The Forklift itself is a Tool, and since you're always going to have a Friend, there's no difficulty in meeting the adjacent tag requirements.

Goggles + Pet Rock

Goggles and Pet Rock are primarily here for the tags they provide. The most important thing is getting 5/5 without occupying more space than you need to, so keep an eye out for applicable Small items, and swap them out if you find ones with better utility.

Jury Rigger

Jury Rigger is a phenomenal skill that's occasionally dropped by the Trash Golem. With this you can take advantage of multiple Ammo items to continuously Reload the Atomic Clock (although eventually it can run out).

This is why the Battery was positioned to the right of the Uzi, creating an extended chain of Reloads to keep the Clock ticking as long as possible.

Ammo Stash

Ammo Stash is another great PvE drop from the Bloodreef Raider, providing more access to Ammo. If you're really lucky, you may even get a Powder Horn; a high priority source of "infinite" Reload for Atomic Clock.

Note that even with Powder Horn you'll still want additional Ammo on the Atomic Clock, as it's so fast that it will run out before it can be Reloaded.

Defense Grid

Defense Grid is always a welcome addition at any point to help provide an extra life buffer. Since it's based on a percentage of your Max Health, you'll always get at least some value out of it, even at lower tiers. While a lesser priority for a Forklift build, it's still a solid pickup.
