Double Whammy exists as more of a late game build as its core components aren't available until Gold-tier. However, getting an early start with
Pawn Shop is an excellent way to plan ahead for success. Even if you lose several PvP fights,
Double Whammy is one of few builds that can reliably make a comeback.
Regardless, you'll still want to find something playable during the early to mid game. Square Pyg is a solid choice since it doesn't require extra Stash space (which is necessary for
Pawn Shop).
Matchbox is another option if you find early Burn skills (or
Cinders).
Core Synergies
Pawn Shop should generally not be included on the board during the early to mid game. Stash it, and do everything you can to efficiently scale its Value.
Regal Blade could be one exception, but only if you're able to complete its first two Quests quickly (though you'd probably still just play a
Crook board).
Briefcase,
Safe, and
Piggy Bank all help contribute for a minimal cost.
Rewards Card is a reliable long-term way to stack Value without requiring much space.
Pitchfork and
Cash Register can be great persistent Value generators, but each one occupies a ton of space.- You may have to give up
Chocolate Bar events and the on-sell
Spare Change items, depending on the scenario.
ATM is always worth purchasing for the extra Income, and
Business Card is a solid grab when space isn't a concern.
Tips & Tricks
Chocolate Bar and Gumball events are the best way to affordably scale
Pawn Shop.- If you find a strong Small Enchanted item at level two, consider building around it to help carry the early days.
- Always pay close attention to your Stash space in order to make the most of your items. Missing out on start-of-day triggers feels bad.
