Overview

Burn Karnok is an aggressive tempo-based archetype. It's generally centered around Tinderbox, aiming to apply fast stacks of Burn before the enemy can get off the ground.

This build aims to win as early as possible, before its power eventually fizzles out.

Example Early Game Path

Core Synergies

  • Tinderbox is the primary source of Burn in the early game, and the ideal host to scale later on due to its fast Charge speed.
    • Firefly Lantern pairs well as another opening Burn item.
    • Torch takes things one step further, creating a higher ceiling when fights go longer.
  • Spear is amazing for its board-wide Haste effect, regardless of it not being a non-Weapon or Tool.
    • Flying Squirrel should be placed to its left to help accelerate the Haste loop.
    • With both at Silver-tier alongside enough Friend items (to guarantee or near-guarantee Crits), you can nearly reach 100% Haste uptime.
  • Dryad + Waterskin are both great flexible additions that can Charge quickly.
    • This benefits Tinderbox in addition to overall Rage gain.

Tips & Tricks

  • Prioritize early power and try to snowball your wins. This build works best when it can win early, but will fall off if you take too many losses.
    • Don't be afraid to pivot during the mid to late game if you're falling behind.
  • Visit the "Strange Mushroom" event to get a free Small Silver-tier Friend (from Karnok's pool).
  • Hunting Knife and Hunter's Journal are the go-to Economy items.
    • Remember to swap in the Hunting Knife before PvE rounds.

Common Filler Items

  • Bagpipes
  • Hunter's Axe
  • Meat
  • Snow Wisp
  • Stretch Pants
  • Wildroot Amulet

Example Mid Game Additions

Core Synergies

  • Burn Scar offers excellent board-wide Burn scaling, plus converts Friend uses (or Burn item uses) into more Burn triggers.
    • Prioritize upgrading this first to drastically improve its rate of scaling.
  • Signal Fire adds another spammy Burn item alongside Tinderbox, while also providing Haste to Friends.
    • Resistance Bands fits well simply as another fast Charging non-Weapon item (regardless of its own effect).
  • Geyser is a little bit slower but can stockpile a huge amount of Burn throughout a fight.
  • Flare, Beast Call, and Hunter's Sled are all optional (filler) inclusions to help speed up the build.

Tips & Tricks

  • Don't include too many Medium-sized items on the board, or else you'll likely slow down your loop. Ideally stick with two, or perhaps three at most.
  • Prioritize skills that are immediately beneficial, ideally with flat offensive boosts or Haste/Charge effects.

End Game Build Breakdown

Tips & Tricks

  • Burn Karnok generally remains the same throughout the mid to late game, but needs to win early in order to reliably succeed.
  • Don't be afraid to pivot if things aren't going well. A number of the components can still be utilized in other setups, such as a Karst Enrage build.
  • Keep an eye out for off-Hero items. This is one way to greatly escalate the build's power level, and even take it across the finish line during the later days.
  • Expeditions can definitely help too, so be sure to purchase a Ticket (or hunt certain PvE Encounters) if they're ever available.
