Overview

Karst Enrage builds aim to spam items as much as possible, allowing them to take advantage of "When you Enrage" effects for a huge payoff. It's all about triggering Rage rather than staying in it.

By nature, these setups are very flexible, meaning one Karst build can occasionally look quite different from another. There's plenty of options that exist early, making it fairly consistent to assemble.

Example Early Game Path

From the beginning, look to find a reliable package of items with at least some form of scaling. Stretch Pants, Honey Badger, and Tinderbox are some of the common variable opening lines.

Core Synergies

  • Stretch Pants is a flexible defensive item that can scale its own Multicast throughout combat.
    • Unibou pairs well alongside it, converting that Multicast into Shield scaling.
    • Dryad has very fast Charge potential and can also work with Stretch Pants and/or Unibou.
  • Honey Badger opts for a more offensive approach, but works best when you have early Damage scaling.
    • Runed Amulet + Beast Tooth are the most reliable options in the beginning.
    • Spiked Wraps is a solid choice on the other end of Beast Tooth.
  • Tinderbox + Firefly Lantern is a great Burn opener that plays similarly to Pyg's Matchbox lines.
    • It's particularly strong if either of the two are found as the starting Enchanted item.
    • Spear + Flying Squirrel (on its left), alongside two other Small Friends, creates a very fast board with reliable Haste uptime (spamming Tinderbox).
    • Torch has huge Burn potential once you're able to set up a fast Rage clock.
  • Snow Wisp provides solid Freeze utility early on, but can become a real threat once upgraded.
    • Meat can be utilized to grant Snow Wisp Multicast.

Tips & Tricks

  • Hunting Knife and Hunter's Journal are great Economy items. Always buy them when available early.
    • Don't forget to swap in the Hunting Knife before PvE fights. However, it's also a solid filler item in PvP thanks to its low Cooldown and Haste.
  • Take advantage of the "Strange Mushroom" event to get a free Small Silver-tier Friend (from Karnok's pool).
  • Consider prioritizing the Enchanted item start over the Bronze Skill. There's plenty of good options that can lead to strong and unique lines.
    • For example, any Restorative item has potential to gain Multicast via Meat.

Example Mid Game Additions

Core Synergies

  • Karst is a major supporting item for Karnok. It provides a ton of Rage gain, Shield, and shortens the Enrage duration (making the builds more spammy).
    • Wild Boar pairs perfectly with Karst, granting massive Shield scaling while also doubling as a win condition.
  • Warpaint is another key source of Rage generation.
  • Hunter's Sled plays a similar role to Stretch Pants, but is instead a slower more frontloaded Multicast item.
    • It's an easy slot-in on many boards, but it definitely helps to have a way to accelerate it. Flying Squirrel usually does the trick (or Beast Call).
  • Frog Hollow is often utilized for its board-wide Haste effect, but it can also create a respectable amount of Healing and Poison.

Tips & Tricks

  • Balanced Friendship is a high priority skill, particularly as a way to scale Karst's Shield. Friends are usually a key part of most setups.
  • Keep an eye out for off-Hero items. There are many out-of-the-box options that can create wildly powerful combos.

End Game Build Breakdown

Core Synergies

  • Karst + Warpaint + Firefly Lantern can create an infinite loop of Enrage triggers, letting you scale to absurd heights.
    • Note that both Karst and Warpaint need to be upgraded to Gold/Diamond for the higher Rage gain.
    • Wild Boar can carry through to the end, as long as your board is fast enough (upgrades definitely help).
  • Snow Wisp has the potential to become a key component, specifically once it's at Gold/Diamond-tier.
    • Once established, assuming you survive long enough, it scales into a board-wide Freeze machine.
  • Trail Markers is a powerfully disruptive slot-in that can greatly hinder the opponent.
    • While this does affect your own board, it's far less impactful due to your ability to Enrage.

Tips & Tricks

  • Shortened Rage is always the pick to go alongside Karst's passive Enrage reduction.
  • Prioritize Karnok skills when available, as there are many strong choices that trigger on Enrage.

Situational Variants

  • Anaconda can be a powerful threat if acquired early enough, and easily fits onto an existing Karst board.
    • However, if you're competing in the later days of a run, it may be too slow to keep up.
