Guide

Key Idea

This comp is extremely simple.

  • All units can simply be picked up while rolling at Level 8.
  • The final board is completely detached from your opening. There are no low-cost champions in it, so you could sell your entire board right before rolling at 4-2.
  • Therefore, you should try to play as aggressively and freely as possible in the early/mid game.

Opening Example

Blackthorn Opening

Blossom Opening

Early 3-cost unit such as Cassiopia, Rammus and FIddlestick can be played straight up, especially if you have Heroic Grab Bag to 2 star them. This will give you a lot of econ and tempo early.

Cassiopia is especially the best among all of them.

If you have the augment "Consuming Flora" offering to you, you are in great luck!

With this augment, you gain a free Flora Fatalia emblem which you can give to Cassiopia or Zyra make them much stronger.

Itemization

For Soraka

  • Soraka is an Executioner, so she doesn't need Jeweled Gauntlet.
  • Soraka only has 0.75 basic attack speed, so Blue Buff is best on her and better than Nashor's Tooth and Spear of Shojin as a mana-generation item.
  • There is a lot of backline access in Set 18, such as Draven and Elder Dragon's Ults. So Hextech Gunblade can keep Soraka alive while also healing her allies.
  • Soraka BIS: Blue Buff + Rabadon's Deathcap + Hextech Gunblade
  • Soraka only has 0/30 mana, so Dawn Core and Lich Bane are the best artifacts on her.

For Zyra

  • Zyra is the 2nd carry after Soraka, so Void Staff and Morellonomicon are better on her.
  • Zyra is best with Executioner's emblem and the Flora Fatalia emblem from gold augment "Consuming Flora".
  • Once you find Lux 2 or Ivern 2, you could transfer Zyra's items to them.
  • Zyra BIS: Void Staff + Morellonomicon + Blue Buff

For Malphite

  • Malphite is the Solo Mega Tank, so you want to prioritize Gargoyle Stoneplate on him.
  • Between Malphite and Amumu, whoever gets 2★ first gets to be the Solo Mega Tank.
  • Malphite is great with even Double Gargoyle Stoneplate.
  • Malphite BIS: Gargoyle Stoneplate + Warmog's Armor + Crownguard

For Kennen

  • Since Kennen comes late, he is great with just Thief's Glove (TG).
  • Kennen BIS: Edge of Night, Hand of Justice, Rabadon's Deathcap

Late Game / How to Get 1st

There are mainly 2 ways for this comp to get 1st.

84 → 95

The first way is to play the Level 8 4-cost board (AKA 84) into a Level 9 5-cost board (AKA 95).

This may sound impossible at first, since you have already spent almost all your gold during the 4-2 rolldown. But in reality, it's actually not that hard. You just need to live long enough. Since you dominated Stage 4 and Stage 5 with this board, you should eventually have enough gold to go 9.

  • During your Stage 4 rolldown, if Maokai and Ivern come early, they are very good and should be played right away.
  • Simply transfer Zyra's items to Lux or Alune after you upgrade them. You don't have to sell Soraka or Zyra, since they have great synergies.
  • If Maokai comes after Stage 5, then he is not as good as Taric.
  • Extra mana items go to Ivern. Ivern can provide a lot of shield!

Stay at Level 8 and Roll for a 3★ 4-cost

This strategy works great when you've preserved a lot of HP and potentially have a Champion Duplicator.
In order to achieve this condition, you have to win hard in the early/mid game.
Luckily, this comp is all about being strong in the early/mid game, so that should be very possible.

Augments such as "Max Cap," "One Buff, Two Buff," and "Commerce Core" can help you a lot.

Make sure to scout the lobby to see if your 4-cost champion is contested, since there are only 10 copies of each 4-cost in the pool. Being contested means it is almost impossible to 3★ that 4-cost.

Your best timing to roll for a 3★ 4-cost is around Stage 5-1 to 5-3. During this time period, the bottom 4 players are likely to get eliminated, but they still have very little HP left.
Many 4-costs are still held by players, and taken out of the pool, making it easier for you to find the one you want.
In my real experience, if you roll after most players have been eliminated, it could become much harder.

Consistency and flexibility is the key to climb, master this comp so you can always secure a top 4!
