This is an In-Depth Guide for my Cyclone Slayer League Starter with Void Shockwave and General’s Cry for Path of Exile 3.29

The guide will lead you through the early League Start up to the Uber Endgame version.

About the Build

Cyclone is one of the comfiest skills to play and with the 3.27 buff it became even better. 99% of the time you will be pressing one button and rolling over all the enemies.

It has 3 layers of damage that stack on top of each other automatically: Cyclone of Tumult itself + Shockwave Support and finally General's Cry that spawns Mirage Warriors that will use Sunder (early) or Ground Slam of Earthshaking (endgame) to finish off your foes.

As defenses, you will have a huge over leech + capped block as well.

It’s very easy to setup and works with very scuffed gear at the start but can scale to endgame reaching good single target DPS + AoE clear in the Endgame.

It’s a newbie-friendly build that’s easy to play and not very expensive to setup.

❗IMPORTANT - Forbidden Flame / Flesh and Progenesis are very expensive so buy those LAST when you are going for Uber version.

▸Important Item Stats

Weapon

Aim to get the Staff with Chance to block as an implicit. It will help your survivability.
Get as high Physical DPS as you find, at least 600+. For endgame aim for 850+.
Get Critical Strike chance if you can, it's a very good stat.

Armour Items

Focus on getting high Armour on your armour items.
Get life where you can.

Gloves

Accuracy.
Damage while leeching.
Attack speed.

Help Alira, kill the rest.
Can swap to kill all later if you need it.

▸Defences

Block

A key defensive layer for Cyclone is reaching block cap:

Take Versatile Combatant and all the block nodes around Counterweight plus Steelwood Stanceood Stance
Rumi's Concoction should be used to improve it
Add some Tattoo of Valako Shield Bearer and replace several strength nodes. From around level 90, I recommend buying as many tattoos as your budget until your block is capped. Those tattoos can be VERY expensive so keep the budget in mind.

For Uber setups, I also highly recommend taking Forbidden Flame and Forbidden Flesh jewels to unlock the Gladiator’s More Than Skill

Leech

Because of Brutal Fervour ascendancy, your life leech effects aren’t removed at full life, which provides a huge chunk of survivability. To boost it even further, invest in leech masteries across your tree.

In the Uber version, you should be hitting around 2,500 life leech per second. At level 91, you’ll typically reach over 1,000 life leech.

Endurance charges

In the Endgame / Crit versions you can get Endurance charges from Smashing Strikes since you will Crit A LOT.
Before that, I strongly recommend taking Disciple of the Unyielding for stable uptime.
If you still find charge generation too low, grab Inexorable, which gives you Endurance Charges when hit.

Fortify

Early on, you can get it easily from the Melee Mastery (Gain Fortify on melee hit), combined with the Steadfast
In 90 and Uber versions, it’s better to get it through a Cluster Jewel. Look for the notable Overlord

❗ Use Sand Stance if you feel not tanky enough OR Blood Stance if you feel you lack damage. Make the choice depending on your setup

▸ How to cap Chaos?

The Light of Meaning (Chaos Resistance) is a very good option to help you out with Chaos resistance. If you don't need it - use The Light of Meaning (Physical Damage) instead.

▸ Should you use Abyssus?

Abyssus can provide a lot of damage but lowers your PHYS Max hit significantly. If you feel not tanky enough - you can change the helmet but most of the time the DMG bonus is worth it.

▸ Anoints

You will have two slots for Anoints: on the Amulet and The Stampede

▸ Mana Issues

If you have mana issues before you've purchased an Armour with -20 to mana cost, as a temporary solution you can do the following:

Take Spirit of War and both small nodes for mana cost
Take Cannibalistic Rite and both small mana cost nodes
Take mastery for 10% reduced mana cost
Take Life Mastery to get Mana cost as Life

❗ Once you've purchased the armour with -20 mana cost you mana issues will be gone.

❗Important - Desecrate should NOT be linked to Cast when Damage Taken Support. Use 3 Link boots.

❗In 3.28 GGG added VOID SHOCKWAVE Support which should replace a normal Shockwave in the Cyclone setup.

The Void Shockwave might be VERY expensive - so use normal one while you cant afford it.

▸How to be Tankier / Less Squishy?

Try to get capped block as fast as you can + dont forget to roll Life everywhere to reach at least 5k.

Dropping Abyssus and replacing it with Rare Helmet with Life should be great for survivability as well.

You can also swap from Blood Stance to Sand stance as explained below.

▸What Stance you should be in?

Most of the time you should be in Blood stance for damage improvement from Blood and Sand and Flesh and Stone. However if you encounter harder content or some particular maps with a lot of damaging mods, you can swap to Sand stance instead for better survivability.

▸Where we are getting charges?

Endurance Charges are provided by Smashing Strikes, so you always will have them when you hit enemies.

Frenzy charges should be provided by Blood Rage - but it only works in maps and not on bosses.

How it Plays

You press and hold the Cyclone button and everything triggers by itself.

On bosses, you will need to cast Desecrate to spawn corpses allowing General's Cry to start working.

Reuse Desecrate if you have less than 5 mirage warriors. You can check their amount in your left up corner.

▸ General’s Cry explained

General's Cry is providing a huge chunk of damage and once it’s setup, you don’t need to think about it anymore.

It triggers once you hit an enemy with your Cyclone and spawns Mirage Warriors from corpses around you.

What’s neat is that they’ll target the strongest enemy nearby if there are boss ads nearby for example, making their single target very reliable.
