Path of Building Code

Build Overview

Lost 30% damage from 3.28 patch on top of needing additional mana reserve to continue autoing most warcries(new cord belt). Early-midgame requires a lot more selfcasting warcries as well. Still great as a starter but pivot into different build once you have 50d+, Ben's smite Berserker is a good choice.

Here is my Berserker build that I have played to very high endgame setups a couple times in HCSSF/Trade. This build is a solid for HC as it has a great balance of defense/speed/offense as a starter build compared to other builds.

In general for weapons in the campaign you'll wand some combination of:

  • Flat phys
  • %phys
  • attack speed
  • flat ele dmg but phys is better.

You can guarantee %phys on a weapon if you sell white/blue axe to the vendor with 1x Blacksmith Whetstone and 1x Rustic Sash magic or rare(rare is more %phys) This gives you %phys on your weapon and makes it blue and this is good enough to do the campaign if you continually upgrade your axe. However due to the rarity of whetstones now you may just need to use what you get from the ground or shop on the vendor/use alchemy orbs/use essences to make your axe. You can always craft mods on the crafting bench(%phys, flat phys, attack speed).

Weapon base order(mace is okay until lvl 20ish): Stone Axe > Jade Chopper > Woodsplitter > Poleaxe > Double Axe(use this until 33 if its decent) > Gilded Axe > Shadow Axe > Jasper Chopper > Headsman Axe > Labrys. AT THIS POINT the stats on the items start to matter more than just upgrading the base over and over.

Once you get to maps gamble axe on Faustus to get a solid weapon for mapping, if lucky this can carry you to t16s and beyond.

Other slots are just life/resist/movement speed. Jade Amulet for dexterity, Leather Belt for life.

Leave Frostblink at low level, and when you swap Herald of Purity does not need to be max level just level as much as you can.

FAIR WARNING HERE, MELEE NEEDS A LOT OF SOCKETS 3 SOCKET IN MOST SLOTS AND THAT CAN BE CHALLENGING WHEN YOU SWAP WEAPONS AROUND VERY OFTEN

As always I suggest muling on a ranger on leaguestart for additional chance to get 3links or movement speed. You can also buy iron rings. You want 3 red or 2red 1green.

Ground Slam(lvl 1 from twilight strand) - Ruthless Support(lvl 1 from the twilight strand) - Chance to Bleed Support(lvl 4 from tidal island quest) - Momentum Support(from ranger mule or lvl4 vendor) if you have a green.

Frostblink(buy from act1 vendor after tidal quest) - to equip this you need Versatility on the passive tree so walk or experienced players can weaponswap Shield Charge - Momentum Support.

Decoy Totem(lvl 4 from tidal island quest).

Leap Slam(After killing brutus you get this from a quest reward at level 10) - Faster Attacks Support(level 9 quest reward from entering prison).

Blood and Sand(buy from act1 vendor after tidal quest) - leave it on in blood stance.

Once you hit level 12:

Replace Ground Slam with Sunder which you can get from the act 1 vendor after entering the cavern of wrath.

Buy Intimidating Cry for big burst press it only on bosses or very tanky rares.

At level 16:

Buy Blood Rage and Herald of Ash. Add these to your setup, Herald of Ash is an aura.

After killing weaver we add Melee Physical Damage Support(Act 2 from quest reward) in our Sunder setup over Chance to Bleed Support.

How it Plays

Press Blood Rage at the start of the map.

Leap slam through your maps making sure to keep up the exerts on your Rallying Cry in the bottom right, the rest of the warcries are automated during late game. Early you will need to press several other warcries as well.

Spam Earthshatter as long as you have exerts.

Use Enduring Cry on bosses to maintain endurance charges before you have the chest mod.
