PoE 2: The Fractured Lake Unique Map

The Fractured Lake is a thematic Unique map inhabited by one of the most iconic figures in Path of Exile lore, Kalandra herself.

The Fractured Lake, added in patch 0.2, is one of the more common Unique maps that can be discovered on the Atlas. This is primarily a Water biome node on the Atlas, though there are rare scenarios where Unique map biomes can be overridden by proximity to Citadels.

Like all other unique maps, completing this one will grant 2 Atlas Passive Points if you haven't yet fully unlocked the 10 passive points available for completing Unique maps.

Finding The Fractured Lake

You'll find this node only near bodies of water. If you are on the hunt for The Fractured Lake start with your nearest unexplored lake as the name suggests.

Atlas Bonus

The Fractured Lake being a Water biome map means that it benefits from the improved currency drops from the Atlas notable Local Knowledge. While the map itself doesn't drop currency at a higher rate than normal maps it's something to consider specializing in. Additionally, The Fractured Lake has a hidden internal modifier that gives 150-300% Increased Number of Rare Monsters, further making Local Knowledge worthwhile.

Running The Map

If you've played Path of Exile 1 during Kalandra League this will look very familiar. You spawn into the map surrounded by water standing on a few basalt columns. You'll find several Rares lurking on the minimap but until you move onto their square you'll be unable to attack them. Thankfully they're also in stasis until they spawn in themselves.

As you move forward the map will expand and can be explored. Basalt columns will continue to rise from the lake to create walkable surface and expose mobs to fight. The only other bit of interest in the map will be the constant chiding of Kalandra, who is a figure of mythical status due to her association with the rarest currency in the game the Mirror of Kalandra. Kalandra herself, however, is only rarely mentioned in-game.

Once you reach the end of the map you'll find the Fragmented Mirror which holds your prize for the map. The items contained within can only be obtained from The Fractured Lake.

The possible rewards from The Fractured Lake are similar to the rares obtainable from Heist in Path of Exile 1. These special items can have additional prefixes or suffixes at the cost of the opposite affixes.
