PoE 2: Stash Tabs Explained

Stash Tab Overview

In Path of Exile 2, your Stash allows you to store items you find as well as list your items for trade with other players. In your Stash, you will find several pages known as Stash Tabs, which you can use to organise your loot. This guide covers all of the available Stash Tabs and their functionality so you're able to use them to their full effect.

On a new account, you will start the game with 4 basic Stash Tabs. New Stash Tabs can be bought with in-game store Points, purchased with real money, in the Microtransaction Shop. You can reach the Microtransaction Shop either on the Path of Exile website, or in-game by pressing M. From there, clicking “Shop” and then “Stash Tabs” will bring up the available Stash Tabs you can purchase from the Shop.

Important to note: Stash Tabs regularly go on sale about once every three weeks, so try to hold out for one of these sales so you can get more bang for your Store Points.

Stash Tab Basics

Stash Tab Types

Basic Stash Tabs

Extra Stash Tab: 30 Points / 20 Points on Special

Bundle of 6 Extra Stash Tabs: 150 Points / 110 Points on Special

These are the Tabs you start the game with and provide basic storage with no additional functionality other than Affinities, which we will cover later on in the guide.

Premium Stash Tabs

Premium Stash Tab: 40 Points / 30 Points on Special

Bundle of 6 Premium Stash Tabs: 200 Points / 165 Points on Special

These Tabs are similar to your basic Stash Tabs but have two major differences:

  1. Public Listings: You can make Premium Stash Tabs “Public”, which allows all items in that Tab to be seen on the Trade Site. You can also list prices so that other players know how much Currency you want for a particular item.
  2. Customisation: You can change the colour and name of Premium Stash Tabs to help you further organise your Stash

Special Tabs

There is also an assortment of specialised Tabs that are only able to store very specific types of items of a particular type.

Currency Stash Tab

75 Points / 60 Points on Special

The Currency Tab has slots for each of the different Currency Orbs you can find, a slot in the middle for an item so you can craft within the Tab itself, as well as some extra flexible slots at the bottom in which you can store some other items. This is one of the most useful Tabs that is absolutely worth purchasing if you’re thinking of expanding your Stash.

Essence Tab

40 Points / 30 Points on Special

The Essence Tab has slots for each of the various Essence types as well as an item slot so that you can craft an item within the Tab itself. There are also additional slots at the bottom which can be used to store several useful 1x1-sized items, such as Currency Orbs, to allow you to craft without having to flip between your various Tabs.

Unique Collection Tab

140 Points / 110 Points on Special

The Unique Collection Tab allows a player to store one of each Unique item they find within it. This is great for collectors who want to save every Unique they find and the amount of space it saves from hoarding all of these special items in regular Tabs is unmatched. The Tab is broken up into various item types with a percentage tracker so you know how close you are to completing your collection. You cannot place more than one copy of each Unique item you find in the Tab, but this is still a very useful one, even for players who aren't trying to complete their holy grail.

Gem Tab

40 Points / 30 Points on Special

The Gem Tab allows you to store up to a total of 500 Uncut, Support, Buff and Skill Gems. The Tab can be sorted to list Gems by Base Level, Gem Level and Quality, as well as show only Gems of a specific type

Delirium Tab

40 Points / 30 Points on Special

The Delirium Tab has individual slots for storage of all Distilled Emotions that you find, as well as Simulacrum Splinters and full Simulacrums. The slots seen at the bottom can also store Waystones that you have affected with Distilled Emotions

Flask Tab

40 Points / 30 Points on Special

The Flask Tab can be used to store up to 500 Flasks of your choosing. This Tab can be useful for storing various Flask setups, or lower level Flasks for new Characters that you level, but its usefulness is questionable in Path of Exile 2 compared to the previous game in which Utility Flasks existed and having a dedicated storage place for them was quite handy.

Premium Quad Tab

150 Points / 120 Points on Special

A Quad Tab is just what it sounds like: four regular Premium Stash Tabs stuffed into one. Instead of being 12x12, a Quad Tab is 24x24, providing four times as much space as a regular Tab. These are very popular for dumping items into to be organised at a later time, but are incredibly useful for whatever you may need them for.

Currently Unavailable Tabs

Many Tabs that were present in Path of Exile 1 are not currently available in Path of Exile 2. In some cases, this is because the Leagues or content that those Tabs were designed for aren't in the game and have no place, or simply because they haven't been added to the Early Access version of the game yet.

The main Tab that people are waiting for is the Map Tab: this is one of the most useful special Tabs as it allowed you to store thousands of Maps in Path of Exile 1. In PoE 2, Maps have been renamed to Waystones and it's almost without doubt that there will be a special Tab for these items which will be incredibly useful. We will update this section of the guide once they have been added.

Stash Tab Functionality

Your Stash Tabs are more than mere storage and can be used to help organise, sell and store items more efficiently.

Stash Affinities

Stash Affinities allow you to instantly send certain types of items to a particular Tab when you move it to your Stash by ctrl+clicking the item. This means you don't have to navigate to an exact Tab to place an item in it which is a huge time save.

Stash Affinities can be set by right-clicking on a Stash Tab nameplate, and then selecting one of the Affinities: Currency, Essence, Flask, Delirium, Unique, Gem - the same types as the special Tabs we just listed. You can even set basic Stash Tabs to have a particular Affinity to designate it as a storage spot for a specific item type such as Currency.

There is also a "Affinity Auto-Navigation" setting which you can find by clicking the cog at the top right of your Stash Tab window. This function will automatically navigate you to a particular Tab as you place an item type that corresponds to that Tab's Affinity. This can be quite disorienting and is off by default.

There is also an option to Enable Tab Affinities: this is on by default, but be aware of it in case your Affinities stop working and you aren't certain why

Folders

Folders can be used to further organise your Stash. These are free and can be created by clicking the folder icon with the + at the top right of your Stash window beside the cog wheel. Folders can be named freely and new Tabs can be added and removed from it by dragging the name plate of a Stash Tab over the nameplate of a Folder. Folders can also be deleted at any time by right-clicking its nameplate and selecting the Delete Folder option.

Folders are very useful for keeping Tabs of a similar type together, such as all of the Tabs you're using to sell items to other players, or even just to keep all unused Tabs out of sight until you need them.

Navigation

  • You can move Stash Tabs by clicking and dragging on their nameplate.
  • Many functions of Stash Tabs can be accessed by right-clicking on the nameplate.
  • You can also move between Tabs by using the cursor keys on your keyboard, or by hovering over the nameplates and using the scroll wheel if your Tab List is hidden. There are also buttons to the left and right of the nameplates which you can click to move between your Tabs
  • You can toggle Show/Hide the Tab List which will show a list of all available Stash Tabs and Folders you currently own by clicking the small arrow to the right of your Stash Tab nameplates. This disables scrolling through Tabs by hovering over the nameplates and scrolling
  • Pin Dropdown List: there is a small Lock icon to the right of the Stash Tab Window above the Tab List which can be clicked to either pin or unpin your Tab List. If this is unlocked, whenever you click a new Tab, the Tab List will automatically close. It's preferable to keep this locked if you prefer having your Tab List open at all times
  • You can add or remove items from your Stash quickly by Ctrl+clicking them
  • You can separate stacks of items while removing them from your Stash by Shift-clicking them

Selling Items

One of the most important functions of all non-basic Stash Tabs is the ability to set them to "Public" and adding prices to the contained items so that they can be listed for sale on the Trade Site. While it is possible to list items for Trade in basic Tabs, this is a fairly complex process that will be covered in another guide. For now, this section focuses on Premium and Special Tabs which make listing items for trade very simple.

In order to make a Tab Public, right click the Tab nameplate and check the "Public" circle. A dropdown box will appear to the right allowing a few things:

1. Each Item Individually Priced: Allows you to specify the exact price of an item within the Tab for an exact price.

2. Set Negotiable Price On All Items: Allows you to set the same price for all items contained within the Tab, and also shows the item on the Trade Site as being open for negotiation on the price.

3. Set Exact Price On All Items: Allows you to set the same price on all items within the Tab, and shows an exact price on the Trade Site for those items. This is a popular option for players who have dozens of Tabs who want to be able to have Tabs prepared for items of a certain value so they can sell them more quickly without having to first manually list the price. For example, a player might have various Tabs with set prices like "1 Exalted, 5 Exalted, 10 Exalted, 20 Exalted, 50 Exalted" and so on, so that they can place items that they deem to be of that value, in that Tab, without manually adding the price each time.

Individual Pricing

Once a Tab is set to Public, and "Each Item Individually Priced", item prices can be specified by right-clicking on the item, selecting either "Exact Price" or "Negotiable Price", then selecting a value and the Currency type you wish to sell the item for. The number can also contain decimals, such as "1.5 Exalted Orbs". Of course, 0.5 Exalted Orbs doesn't exist, and usually this decimal implies a certain amount of additional lower-value Currency as well as the 1 full Exalted Orb, such as 1 Exalted Orb and 2 Regal Orbs as an example.

The note at the bottom stating "Exact Price: 55x Mirror of Kalandra" lets you know that the item has been publicly listed for trade on the Trade Site.

Do Not Index

This function allows you to have an item in a Public Tab, but prevent it from being listed on the Trade Site. This is useful when you're still trying to determine the value of an item you want to sell, or aren't certain if you want to sell it yet.

Notes

You can also add Notes to items. This can be useful to have additional information about an item, such as who it belongs to or why you have it. However, you can also use Notes to add prices to items without clicking any buttons if you know the code to do so.

For example instead of manually clicking the dropdowns and boxes to add a 4 Orbs of Alchemy price to an item, you could instead type the following in the Notes: ~price 4 alch

For now, I won't list the shorthand for every possible situation, but if you wish to learn it, you can set an item to a specific price the usual way, then right-click it again and select Note from the dropdown box to see the text that appears that the game uses to list your item on the Trade Site.

Bulk Listing

You can also list stackable items, such as Currency Orbs or Essences, for a specific rate. If you have 3 Essences, you can indicate that you want 4 Orbs of Alchemy for all of them by typing the quantity of what you want, followed by the amount you have, separated by a slash. That sounded confusing, but remember it like this:

Price/Quantity

3/4 - Your 3 Orbs of Alchemy for My 4 Essences

This can be incredibly useful in certain situations, but with the inclusion of The Currency Exchange in Path of Exile 2, you won't need to use this function as often as before. We will have a guide up on the Trade Site and Currency Market soon, so check it out here once it is up!
