Build Overview

Poison Pathfinder is a build that deals tons of damage with a simple playstyle. All you really need to make quick work of the entire campaign is a bow with some good physical damage rolls, so this build is a terrific league starter!

The build scales extremely well in the endgame. It easily clears all content, including high-tier delirious maps and uber pinnacle bosses.

How This Build Scales Damage:

There are a lot of ways to scale damage with a poison build!

Below is a complete list of all primary damage scaling methods available.

  • High physical damage (bow)
  • Damage with bow skills (quiver)
  • Added physical damage to attacks (quiver/rings/gloves)
  • Skill gem levels (skill gems/amulet/bow/quiver)
  • Increased poison stacks
  • Poison magnitude/Ailment magnitude/Damaging ailment magnitude (all three of these stats are different, and they all stack!)
  • Crit chance
  • Crit damage bonus
  • Poison duration
  • Poison deals damage faster
  • Shock (increases enemy damage taken)
  • Added chaos damage to attacks (rings/bows, very rare)
  • Increased attack damage
  • Increased physical damage
  • Increased projectile damage

Below is a list of mods that don't help with damage, and should not be prioritized.

  • Added elemental damage (unless using Plaguefinger)
  • Attack speed (feels good, but doesn't add damage)
  • Chance to poison (Poisonburst Arrow, Toxic Growth, etc. already have 100%)
  • Increased chaos damage (only works with direct damage, not poison)

Useful Uniques

  • Slivertongue - Can be used from Act 3 through Tier 15 maps.
  • Plaguefinger - Allows elemental damage to contribute to poison magnitude. Super strong in early acts. Also very good at endgame if you build for it!
  • Corpsewade - Poison damage spreading boots. Helpful for clear early in the campaign.
  • Snakebite - Gives +1 maximum poison stack, allowing for more single-target damage on campaign bosses.
  • Voltaxic Rift - Potentially very strong for dealing tons of damage on a relative budget in maps. Grants the ability to shock with all damage!

Act 1:

Cast Lightning Arrow to clear packs of small enemies and combo Lightning Rod and Lightning Arrow to kill bosses and rare monsters.

Use these skills until level 14 (The Executioner). The limitation of one poison stack at a time makes Poisonburst Arrow weak in early Act 1.

When you get your first Spirit Gem for killing The King in the Mists, take Plague Bearer. You will use it throughout the campaign.

How to Clear Zones (Act 2+):

Cast Poisonburst Arrow. Use Plague Bearer against large packs of enemies.

Use Toxic Growth to kill tanky rares. You can quickly trigger Toxic Growth pods with Gas Arrow once you unlock it at level 22, and Plague Bearer prior to that point.

How to Kill Bosses (Act 2+):

Cast Gas Arrow. Fire Toxic Growth into the gas cloud until it dissipates. Use Gas Arrow again and continue casting Toxic Growth.

You can also use Plague Bearer to trigger Toxic Growth pods.

League Start Regex:

You can input this string into vendor windows to quickly search for movement speed boots and physical damage bows: "(10|15)% i.+mov|ph.*da|s: bow"
