Hey guys, KallTorak here! I'm an Off-Meta creator with an affinity for silly goose time builds! This is my Freezing Rapid Shot Witch Hunter build for Leveling & End Game.

Freezing Rapid Shot Witch Hunter - Video Guide

WARNING!!!! RAPID SHOT WAS REWORKED IN THE MOST RECENT PATCH 0.3. APPARENTLY THIS BUILD NO LONGER FUNCTIONS HOW IT USED TO. I HAVE NOT HAD TIME TO LOOK INTO IT BUT APPARENTLY THIS BUILD IS DEAD. I AM SORRY IF YOU ATTEMPTED IT.

Rapid Shot is the core of this build. It is a crossbow skill that shoots....really fast! What's important here is when you are using Rapid Shot you heat up over time. Rapid Shots Gains 7% of Damage as extra Fire Damage per Heat. When combined with the support gem Embitter, Rapid Shot no longer does fire damage but will now freeze!

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • Fun alternative playstyle for Rapid Shot using Freeze via Embitter!
  • Viable for leveling and end game. You can start leveling with the skill at level 14. I was able to use it very easily deep into waystone 16s.
  • Bossing made easy! High dps with freezes and stuns means bosses don't really get a chance to touch you. +3 Xecht confirmed.
  • No viable for Simulacrum. Herald of Ice builds struggle there because of no corpses.
  • Constantly having to hold left click makes it not the fastest mapping build.
  • Unique heavy and support gem heavy. Not viable for league starts.

Build Variants

You don't get access to Rapid Shot until level 14. Use Armour Piercing Rounds rounds until then you'll be fine. It has solid single target and Armour Explosion has decent clear.

Gear You Use Through End Game

  • Polcirkeln is core to enabling Herald of Ice. While I have been able to remove it for pinnacle bossing it feels pretty nice always for mapping.
  • Finally found a build where Thrillsteel felt good in. Increased move speed and skill speed is amazing for this build.

Important Notes For Leveling

  • Rapid Shot was able to handle all content for me. The most important thing for scaling its damage is your cross bows dps. Just good a good damage crossbow and you can coast the entire campaign.
  • For Herald of Ice to work you need to have Polcirkeln and Embitter supporting Rapid Shot. Once you do this you'll easily be able to handle any aoe clear during the campaign.

How it Plays

Rapid Shot builds up heat as you are shooting it. That heat gets converted to cold damage via Embitter. Run around holding left clip spraying and freezing your enemies to death!.
