Build Overview

======================================================

WELCOME

This is a comprehensive Level 1 to Uber Endgame min/max variant guide.

(NEW INTRO NOTE:) IF you are inexperienced in POE mechanics, and are not willing to "deep dive" the content to learn this build, you will not enjoy this build.

IF you are new or casual, I take special care to make the progression VERY clear and obvious.

IF you are a veteran, the endgame version of this archetype is going to push the limits, and you will enjoy how it works.

I respond to all relevant comments on YT and am active in our Discord. We also have some other GOATed Gurus in the Discord @arq @cur$e and @i9314. Give your thanks to these goats.

Please post questions in the Spark channel in Discord. TYTY GL! <3

Updates (09/06)

======================================================

Explanation of Primary End Game Mechanic

The main thing GGG targeted in caster nerfs for 0.5 is RESOURCE REPLENISHMENT. We caster bros have rushed to find more hacks at this, and GGG continues to slough off new findings. One methodology that should not get nerfed (because it is so core to Infernalist) is the node Pyromantic Pact.

Pyro Pact removes our mana (completely), and gives us infinite resources (literally). It also inverts how resources get used (rather than going from full to empty, they go from empty to full and reset). When your "mana" (called Infernal Flame) gets full, you take ALL OF YOUR HEALTH and ES as damage to yourself (sounds bad, right?).

Believe it or not, this build inverts this downside into an upside with recoup. We stack life/energy shield recoup, slot in Sacrosanctum, and become nearly invincible while also completely removing the downside from Pyromantic Pact and giving ourselves essentially infinite mana.

The mechanic is so powerful, and we invert the downside so dramatically, that we actually WANT to take the damage downside MORE frequently. So anywhere we can actually reduce our mana pool and increase the cost of spells turns into a GOOD thing.

Also, because our recoup becomes routinely 4000+ life/ES replenishment per second, in the early/cheaper endgame variant we can stack infinite Demon Form + Demonic Possession, giving us limitless spell damage over the course of an instance. In the later/$$$$ endgame variant, we drop Demon Form and stack crit with Grinning Immolation and a set of low life techs related to Coward's Legacy, Pain Attunement, and Execute III. The final form pulls off the traditional delete-any-boss-in-seconds mode without any pre-conditions.

Quest Bonuses:

A2 - Charm Duration (Valley of Titans)

A3 - Ailment Threshold (Venom Crypts)

A4 - 3x Resists (Halls of the Dead)

A4 - Eye of Hinekora (DO NOT VENERATE for the MANA - actually bad for the build, skip)

A4 - Life Recovery from Flasks (Abandoned Prison)

A4 - 30% Armour, Evasion, ES (The New Thing: Shark Fin)

I2 - Resists (Qimah)

Regex for Vendors:

Movement speed, rare items, cast speed, spell damage, damage as extra, lightning damage, gem level modifiers

Regex for Map Shopping:

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • End game archetype relies on complex interactions that are difficult to understand
  • If you are not familiar with Spark skill rotation/playstyle in campaign and early mapping, you will struggle

Build Variants

VARIANT: Late Maps (Frostbolt > Spark)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I snapshotted this POB shortly after completing T15 map progression. If done correctly, this variant clears T15 maps comfortably; can sustain about 50-75 Demon Form stacks; and can take down powerful map bosses (4-5 Million HP) in about 10 seconds. If not done correctly, none oft his will happen. :(

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gameplay

There is still a rotation

1 --> Sigil of Power (granted by Chiming Staff [quality it to 20%])

Spam spells in the circle to get 4 stages (this is 50%+ MORE spell damage)

See Weapon Set 2, which scales the AOE / Duration for this skill.

2 --> Frost Bomb (the support gems have changed!)

New support gems promote the EXPOSURE effect of the gem

We no longer care about the cold infusions

Also Weapon Set 2, can scale the Exposure Effect on the second tree

3 --> Orb of Storms (supports have changed)

Again, we don't care AS MUCH about the infusion for Flame Wall

Orb is there as a debuff and as a crit generator for Cast on Critical

4 --> Elemental Weakness (spam this everywhere in the zone you are targeting)

This combined with Exposure on a boss should be 90% all res debuff

Keep this up on bosses at all times (and on certain rares)

5 --> Now you get to Frostbolt and use Spellslinger to proc the Flame Wall and the Spark (Wall and Spark here are generally for DEBUFF / damage adds)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

TIPS

A huge misconception is how to generate Cast on Critical energy. Read the gem. Read it. It matters how much damage you do when you crit (MORE than how often you crit). So 80% crit with no crit bonus is worse than 50% crit with lots of bonus.

Sustaining Demon Form in this variant took only about 80% recoup on life (no direct recoup on ES; it is dropped from the tree). But, when 50+ stacks comes, have to rinse and repeat. You are still strong outside of Demon Form, and then you are a moon eater within it.

Anywhere you can, you want to reduce mana, increase cost of skills, nuke your mana efficiency, and elevate your cast speed and your skill gem levels (which makes them cost more). All of this allows you to fill your infernal flame faster, and generate more recoup.

For anyone having issues with survivability/ not recouping enough life: drop your fire resistance to 10-15% i know it sounds counter intuitive but hear me out. You recoup more damage if you take more damage. Dont drop your fire res too low or the Pyro pact will outright kill you. Drop it enough to keep you alive while being able to stack recoup.

I would not recommend this build unless you really like exploring new builds.
I played 4days and 5 hours and died 428 times. Final build ~600D. Below some thoughts:
1. League Start: just dont do it, spark is not playable in campaign, you need 3-4 skills to get a decent damage.
2. T1-T10: no damage, no defense, very weak progression.
3. T11-T15 (4mods): you need around 50-100D to kick start transition to activiate the build mechanism, it does feel cool but you need infusion for decent damage so a lots of button. cant do much contents.
4. T15 onwards (8mods/expedition): horible. you need stacking skill speed/ recoup to make the build works "STABLE", stop constantly to cast. at the same time you need lots of gem levels to scale up your damage (personally i think you can skip rakiata's flow and go for some pen, take the 200D to play some meta build bro).
5. overall: very good experience to learn, but not playing.... regret a lot.. life would be happier to just play meta

I think my biggest issue is that there are so many mechanics that completely negate recoup/recovery effects, so you end up dying to getting completely countered as well.

This is my favorite build mechanically because it's so unique, but in practice it isn't holding up to the standard S or A tier builds.

I’ve been doing this build the whole new mini leagu. it’s very good but he is right you must be willing to learn the mechanics. If you’re having a problem damage scaling it’s definitely you. My gems are much lower and I haven’t had an issue as soon as I learned how to play correctly. The issue was survivability. As soon as I was high enough level to equip the chest piece I was fine. The issue is it’s a minimum 68 level requirement and he has it equipped on Early maps which only goes up to level 60..

I've been following this guide since interlude or so (leveled up with a plants build until then). Now at T12 maps, I am level 83.

My experience has been rough with it, lacking damage for rares and bosses most of the time. I feel like the more I invest, the harder it is to keep up with mobs scaling at higher tier waystones.

I can sustain demon form no problem, more than 100 recoup. +7 levels on wand+amulet+focus and all skills pretty much equal to the Endgame Cheap variant. Missing a few crit chance bonuses on items, but man those wands are not cheap.
Rare mobs and rogues are super hard to kill. I mean I can kill them eventually but it feels really slow. And that's standing on the sigil and clicking all the buttons to make spark glow with colors. Still feels underpowered.

I am starting to doubt things will improve much with higher crit chance on items. Maybe with super endgame gear it will feel amazing, but man I miss my whirling assault martial artist, that thing was solid always!

I made a mistake: I had the limit of 10 stacks on demon form still. Then pyromantic pact and Bringer of Flame. The guide prioritizes removing the 10 stacks before Bringer of Flame. At least while you don't have the fourth ascendency of course.

I changed that and yes, damage increased, but not dramatically. I was able to sustain up to about 60 stacks max. But still struggled with rare mobs, rogues and bosses.

Eventually switched to a chaos/curses build, which uses demon form and recoup so most of my equipment didn't need to change. It is better at least for me. I managed to do my fourth ascendency easily, which is more than I could say with this build.

I’m struggling so much with the game, I die so easily! I’m following the End Game (Expensive) build. What should I do?

W
WorthyFlame7d ago

I went for high energy shield items, like sirenscale gloves and skycrown tiara. Quality up to 20%, iron runes on them ideally. Try to get flat energy shield modifiers on them, better than percentage energy shield. Or get both, even better.

Resistances to 75%, chaos you can leave that for later depending on the level but chaos damage hits hard on shields so better to bring that to 75% too.

I don't know what's the point of this (definetly not) comprehensive guide if you have to build intuition to fulfil all the details you are missing.

Despite the learning curve the whole thing is like a sand castle, if you are "not poor" this and that...
Not gonna say whether you should play it or not, personally I made to T15 and it still feel like crap, just gave up, but good luck.

This build just sucks to play, at least early in maps. I'm sure it can get crazy late, but the experience is just miserable while you're gearing.

First major issue is that you simply cannot play half the waystones, as if they have reduced life and ES recovery, you're cooked, so that's a massive annoyance right off the bat.

Second issue is that to do damage, you need to enter nuclear launch codes every few seconds or it just doesn't do anything, you have to stay in the sigil of power and shoot through the fire wall, so positioning is also super annoying.

Why would I play a build that requires a PHD to play and still struggle, when I can play literally anything else and perform way better way earlier for way less investment and use 5% of the brainpower needed to play this build

It is interesting, and well done making it, but it was a massive mistake for me personally investing currency and time into this one, so anyone looking into this one, be careful

You cannot use Compressed Duration I or Compressed Duration II on the Time of Need skill anymore because the interval between its blessings is no longer classified as a skill duration.

what do i do?

Yeah they changed that, i just didnt socket any support gems in time of need.

This is rough for newer players, like me. If I’d picked an oracle or gemling I’d be at 15’s easily and im just getting to the interludes…but i am plugging along. It looks cool and fun and i have a buddy that played a similar one in .5 and it looked amazing. I hope i can get to that point but it is very slow going.

I can still appreciate the effort, thank you for the guide.
