Gaming releases tend to ramp up towards the end of the year, and 2025 is no different. In September, some fantastic games are being released, and here are some of the biggest releases to look forward to this month.

The Games

Hell Is Us

Release Date: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S - September 4

Hell Is Us

From an established franchise to a fresh IP, we have Hell Is Us. Developed by Rogue Factor and published by Nacon, Hell Is Us is looking to carve out its own space in the action-adventure genre.

The game takes place in a war-torn country plagued by supernatural creatures known as the Hollow Walkers. Players assume the role of Rémi, a soldier returning to his homeland only to find it consumed by an eerie calamity.

What sets Hell Is Us apart is its design philosophy—there’s no traditional map, quest markers, or hand-holding navigation. Exploration is organic, driven by player curiosity and environmental storytelling. Combat emphasizes weight and unpredictability, with melee weapons such as swords, polearms, and axes offering unique fighting styles.

A drone companion adds tactical depth, distracting enemies or scouting ahead while the player manages scarce stamina and health resources. The game leans heavily into atmosphere, marrying dark surrealism with grounded, visceral combat.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: The Order of Giants

Release Date: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2 - September 4

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: The Order of Giants

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was one of the most pleasant surprises in recent gaming memory. MachineGames and Lucasfilm Games are expanding their acclaimed adventure with its first major story DLC, The Order of Giants.

Set in 1937 Rome, this expansion drops Indy beneath the Vatican to uncover the truth behind a mysterious cult tied to the biblical Nephilim. The story introduces new puzzles, crypts, and labyrinthine environments designed to test both platforming skill and intellect, while combat blends classic brawling with gunplay and whip mechanics.

Notably, the DLC can be played standalone, independent of progress in the base game, meaning if you’ve never touched it before, you can hop straight into the DLC story.

Players can expect new relics to uncover, enemy archetypes to battle, and a storyline that leans deeper into mysticism than the globe-trotting archaeology of the main campaign and what we expect from Indy.

Hollow Knight: Silksong

Release Date: PC, Mac, Linux, Switch, Switch 2, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S - September 4

Hollow Knight: Silksong

Team Cherry’s long-awaited sequel finally got its release date! Hollow Knight: Silksong shifts focus to Hornet. Unlike the atmospheric descent of the original, this journey is an ascent—players must climb through varied biomes, from moss-covered caverns to gothic towers, each hand-drawn with Team Cherry’s signature artistry.

Gameplay expands with new movement options like dashing and acrobatic climbing. Combat is faster, with precision strikes, silk-based abilities, and craftable tools such as traps, gadgets, and explosive bells. The quest system has been expanded, featuring hunts, grand hunts, and multi-step missions that deepen the world’s lore.

The world itself teems with over 200 enemy types and more than 40 bosses, offering some of the most challenging encounters in the genre.

While Team Cherry is a small studio, they’ve avoided crunch and let creativity dictate its pace, so it’s almost guaranteed we’ll get a highly polished release. With an expanded scale but the same haunting beauty, Silksong is poised to be one of the most important indie releases of recent times.

2XKO (Closed Beta)

Release Date: September 9th on PC, with the full release coming to consoles later.

2XKO (Closed Beta)

2XKO isn’t set to be fully released on the 9th of September, but expect it to be out sooner rather than later. Riot Games is launching 2XKO into a closed beta. Early testers describe it as fast, fluid, and highly approachable, aiming to bridge casual accessibility with esports-ready depth.

Riot’s stepping into a new genre, this time it's a fighting game, a free-to-play 2v2 tag-fighter set in the League of Legends universe. It's designed to prioritise teamwork; players select a primary champion and an assist champion, creating endless synergies and tactical combinations.

Each character brings unique abilities inspired by their League of Legends counterparts, from rapid assassins to long-range spellcasters. Unlike traditional one-on-one fighters, the action here is about dynamic switching and chaining abilities between teammates, rewarding coordination and creativity.

Borderlands 4

Release Date: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2 - September 12

Borderlands 4

Gearbox Software and 2K are bringing Borderlands back in a big way. Borderlands 4 takes players to the chaotic planet of Kairos, a sprawling, interconnected world designed to minimise load times and maximise exploration.

The game introduces four new Vault Hunters. Loot is deeper than ever thanks to the “Licensed Parts” system, which allows weapon variations to shift mid-fight, adding new layers of customisation.

The skill trees are also brand new, and here at Mobalytics, we have been working hard on making a fully functional, easy-to-use build planner to help you and your friends get started with the strongest builds to help you in Borderlands.

Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor

Release Date: PC and Xbox Series X|S - September 17

Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor

Funday Games and Ghost Ship Publishing have transformed Deep Rock Galactic’s co-op mining chaos into a roguelike auto-shooter with Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor. Inspired by the emerging bulletstorm genre and games like Vampire Survivors, the game places players in the role of a lone dwarf fighting through endless alien swarms.

Each run involves mining resources, fending off waves of enemies, and upgrading gear through randomised overclocks. Progression ties back into permanent upgrades, letting players unlock new weapons, classes, and tech between runs.

What began as an early access experiment exploded in popularity, selling over a million copies within months and was praised for its addictiveness. Now, with a full release, the game promises refined mechanics, expanded biomes, and polished progression systems.

Dying Light: The Beast

Release Date: PS4/5, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S - September 19

Dyling Light The Beast

Techland returns to its survival-horror roots with Dying Light: The Beast, a standalone spin-off originally conceived as DLC for Dying Light 2. Set in the haunting Castor Woods, a remote, forested region filled with villages and derelict industry, the game pivots away from massive cityscapes toward a more intimate, narrative-driven structure.

Unlike the open-world sprawl of its predecessors, The Beast is a contained, story-first experience, with Crane embarking on a personal quest for vengeance against the enigmatic villain known only as “The Baron.

Dynamic day-night cycles and co-op for up to four players keep the signature survival tension intact. While previously delayed, Techland has reworked the animations, UI, and gore effects to heighten immersion. With a darker, more linear story and visceral combat loop, The Beast feels like a return to horror fundamentals while still celebrating the kinetic parkour and co-op mayhem that define the series.

Slime Rancher 2

Release Date: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S - September 23

Slime Rancher 2

Monomi Park’s charming life-sim Slime Rancher 2 is finally leaving early access. Once again, players step into the boots of Beatrix LeBeau, this time exploring the technicoloured Rainbow Island. The game builds upon the cosy foundation of the original with new slimes, biomes, and much more.

Players can discover hybrid “Largo” slimes, manage slime diets to produce valuable plorts, and craft gadgets using expanded resource systems. Exploration is central: each biome offers unique challenges and secrets. New upgrade paths allow for jetpacks, energy management, and automated farming systems, helping streamline operations. After years of player feedback during early access, Monomi Park has refined pacing, economy, and progression loops to balance accessibility with long-term depth.

On the visual front, Slime Rancher 2 embraces a pastel, storybook aesthetic, with lush landscapes and charming animations. This is both a relaxing sandbox and a surprisingly deep simulation, cementing the series as a cosy gaming staple.

Blade & Soul Heroes

Release Date: PC and mobile - September 24

Blade & Soul Heroes

NCSoft expands its martial arts MMO universe with Blade & Soul Heroes, a new multiplayer action-RPG. Designed as a spiritual successor to the original Blade & Soul, this entry focuses on streamlined action combat while retaining the franchise’s signature aesthetics.

Players select from a roster of martial heroes, each with a unique fighting style rooted in Chinese martial arts, ranging from lightning-fast dual blades to staff-based crowd control. Unlike its MMO origins, Heroes leans more toward small-squad co-op and competitive modes, emphasising short session play and accessible progression.

It’ll launch with cross-play, reflecting NCSoft’s ongoing pivot toward global, multi-platform releases. For long-time fans, Heroes promises to blend beloved lore with modernised gameplay. For newcomers, it’s an entry point into one of the most visually stunning martial arts fantasy settings in gaming.

Silent Hill f

Release Date: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S - September 25

Silent Hill f

Konami is breaking new ground with Silent Hill f. It’s the first mainline entry in the franchise in over a decade. Developed by NeoBards Entertainment, the game is set in 1960s rural Japan—an evocative departure from the foggy streets of Silent Hill itself. Players follow Hinako, a frail schoolgirl, as she confronts grotesque fungal horrors tied to her town’s dark history.

Unlike previous entries that leaned heavily on firearms, Silent Hill f focuses on melee combat using improvised weapons like iron pipes and sickles, forcing players into close-quarters encounters with disturbing enemies.

Multiple endings, New Game Plus, and branching choices reinforce its replayability. The story, written by acclaimed Japanese visual novelist Ryukishi07, explores themes of repression, tragedy, and supernatural infection.

Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles

Release Date: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch - September 30

Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles

Square Enix is reviving a legendary strategy RPG with Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles. Built as a comprehensive remaster of the original 1997 classic and its PSP remake, War of the Lions, this edition features modernised visuals, fully voiced dialogue, remastered music, and quality-of-life improvements such as auto-saving and improved UI navigation.

The tactical gameplay remains intact, challenging players to position units across isometric battlefields, exploit terrain advantages, and manage complex job systems with over 20 classes. The tale of political intrigue, betrayal, and war within Ivalice remains one of Square’s most mature narratives, blending Shakespearean drama with fantasy warfare.

Alien: Rogue Incursion – Evolved Edition

Release Date: PC, PS5 - September 30

Alien: Rogue Incursion

Developed by Survios in partnership with 20th Century Studios, Alien: Rogue Incursion first launched as a VR survival experience. With the Evolved Edition, the game has been rebuilt as a traditional flat-screen title, making it accessible to a broader audience.

Players will face relentless xenomorph encounters in claustrophobic environments, where resource management and stealth are often more viable than direct combat. The Evolved Edition features upgraded visuals, rebalanced gameplay for non-VR controls, and additional story content that expands on Zula’s mission.

By fusing the immersive horror roots of the VR game with the accessibility of console and PC play, Rogue Incursion aims to capture the essence of Ridley Scott’s original terror while modernising the experience for new audiences.
