Bethesda Confirms Fallout 3 and New Vegas Remasters Are in the Works
Bethesda Game Studios has confirmed it's working on remasters of both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, tucked inside a wide-ranging studio update on its plans for the years ahead.
The reveal came on X/Twitter, where the team acknowledged that many players want to revisit older Fallout games. "While we're not announcing any dates today, we have been working on remasters for both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas," the studio said. No release window, platforms or further details were given.
Obsidian, the original developers of New Vegas, will be teaming up with Bethesda once more on an all-new Fallout project, separate from the remasters, with more to share in the future.
Bethesda reaffirmed that Fallout 5 remains the long-range goal and is currently in preproduction, being built on the new Creation Engine 3 platform alongside The Elder Scrolls VI. In the nearer term, Fallout 76 has a major expansion lined up for next year called Raven Rock, a prequel story to Fallout 3.
Fallout Shelter, which the studio says has topped 250 million players, has more Seasons on the way plus an unscripted TV project in development with Amazon Studios and Kilter Films. The main Fallout show, meanwhile, landed 10 Emmy nominations for its second season, with Season 3 already in production.
Bethesda is skipping its traditional Fallout Day broadcast this year, but teased "something special" for the franchise's 30th anniversary in 2027, when Fallout Day will be celebrated live in Washington, D.C.
