Recommended battle items

Key Mechanics

x200 Boulder

The boss throws a boulder you need to dodge.

The indicator is the shadow.

He executes this mechanics after most Key Mechanics and Fire Ring Perfect Guard.

x175 Ghost

The boss teleports to the middle and attacks left and right using his scythe.

  • Left: Banished to ghost realm
  • Right: Stays outside

The scythe attacks deal high damage, but get dispersed between the players hit. However, if more than 4 people get hit by a single attack it will kill.

Therefore, each party should stand on their respective side and get hit by the attack.

Banished Party

8 Ghosts spawn in cardinal and ordinal positions. 4 Ghosts must be successfully staggered.

In Hard Mode there will be 4 symbols beneath 4 ghosts:

  • Red Eye
  • Green Heart
  • Black Scythe
  • Blue Horns

You must type the positions of each symbol in chat. For example, "5 Horns".

Be careful, if the boss' head is tilted then so will the ghost positions, make sure his head it straight.

Outside Party

You must complete a stagger check. Following this, 4 players will get a symbol above their head and a set of ghosts will spawn in cardinal and ordinal positions. Each one of these players will have a beam going through them.

These players must point their beam to the symbol position corresponding to the Banished Party. Pay attention to chat as the Banished Party should type their positions.

x145 Pillars

A cutscene plays and the perspective changes. Projectiles will spawn all around the map marked by red indicators.

Larger yellow indicators mean a pillar will spawn in that position.

Hide behind a pillar to dodge the boss' attack.

x115 DPS Check & Counter

The following will happen in order:

  1. Inside-safe or outside-safe blue telegraph attack.
  2. Counter like Valtan's ghosts, there may be up to 3 counters. Pizza attacks will also be cast.
  3. Alternated blue telegraph attack.
  4. Repeat

x90 Dodge Phase

You must simply dodge the attacks signaled by red indicators.

Getting hit by these attacks grants a debuff stack that causes you to take additional damage.

Perfect Block

In general, Perfect Block attacks are those that require you to press "G" with specific timing. The following occurs after the dodge phase.

The boss smashes the battlefield with its arm, marked by a red indicator.

The hand will start glowing and pulsate, followed by a wave of fire.

Stay away from the hand to avoid getting immediately hit by the wave of fire.

When the wave of fire reaches about 1-character size distance away from you, press "G". It is better to press sooner rather than later.

x58 DPS Check & Stagger

The boss disappears and appears on the right side of the map, this can be seen on the minimap.

A large slow red telegraph will be cast, the safe spot is all the way to the left on the edge of the battlefield.

A DPS check will then commence, waves of attacks will be cast whilst performing the DPS check.

After the DPS check, the arm will swing at you, make sure to Perfect Block using "G".

The boss commences a stagger check. You can use Thar to help.

x30 Stagger Check

A stagger check will commence in the middle of the battlefield with similar attacks to the dodge phase.

It is recommended to use Thar to help with this mechanic.

Be mindful of the Perfect Block. Press "G" when the green rings/effects appear.

Counter Mechanics

Blue Slashes

The boss dashes away and multiple blue telegraphs will appear, the boss will appear counterable in the center.

Normal Mechanics

Green Orbs

Large green orbs will appear, they are inside safe.

Green Blue Lines

In Normal Mode, blue lines are always safe.

In Hard Mode, it's random and will be cast twice. So, you can use a skill with tenacity to take the first hit, and dodge the second hit. The second hit's safe spots will be the same colour as the first hit.

Shadow Clone Slash

A shadow will appear and the boss will slash in the opposite direction. The shadow area is the safe spot.

Medusa

The boss will cast a medusa mechanic, he may teleport.

Skulls

The boss dashes, turns around and casts skull projectiles. These projectiles will fear you.

He will then follow up with a beam attack, make sure to stay behind him.

Flame Breath

The boss charges up and then casts a large cone Flame Breath.

Exploding Ghosts

Green indicators will appear and spawn ghosts. Be careful because these ghosts explode.

Post x90 Normal Mechanics

Huge Boulder

A player is marked and their screen will glow. The boss will cast a huge boulder at the target.

If you're targeted then move far away from the boss and the rest of the party.

Huge Scythe

The boss' scythe grows and red indicators appear. Before the red indicator attack gets executed, the boss will first cast a pushing attack.

Stand in front of the red indicator safe space so the push attack pushes you to the safe space. You can also use tenacity.

Valtan Portals

The boss will spawn Valtan Portals, just like in Valtan Gate 2.

However, if the boss dashes away and raises its hand then the portals will spawn Valtan clones which can grab you.

Grab

Semi-circle red indicators will appear to grab players.

Valtan Perfect Block

Valtan will appear and cast a pizza attack. Following this attack he will charge a golden circle indicator, when it reaches the end you should Perfect Block by pressing "G".

Scythe Split

The boss splits the battlefield into green and blue, the safe colour is the opposite of his scythe's colour.
