League of Legends Classic is Coming Soon!

League of Legends Classic is a new game mode that relives the experience of veteran players. In this game mode, you are taken back to League of Legends in Season 3. You will be playing League of Legends the old way, before many of the champions were added to the game, with the old map and much more.

In this brief guide, we will discuss what we know so far about LoL Classic. This will be a living article and will be updated frequently as we learn more about this game mode. Right now, it is unclear to what extent Riot will time-warp us back to Season 3 and how long LoL Classic Mode will be around.

More details will be revealed during the MSI 2026 Finals on July 11, 2026

Old Summoners Rift Map

In this new game mode, we will have access to the original Summoner’s Rift Map. This map was very green, didn’t have alcoves, and had a different jungle layout. It is quite different from the current Summoners Rift Map.

Items, Runes and Masteries

In Season 3, we had a variety of items, some of which are completely different from what we have in the current game. For example, back in the day, you could have multiple jungle items (looking at you, Master Yi and Udyr). The items from the game back then will be in this game mode.

Similarly, the Rune system, which was awful in Season 3, will return as well. It is not yet known if you have to buy the individual Runes as you did before.

Also, Mastery pages will return, but it is not yet known if you start at level 30 and unlock all Masteries at the beginning. While writing this article, I remembered that you had to level slowly and could only earn 1 Mastery point per level… Let’s hope everything is already unlocked.

Game Modes

There isn’t too much information about what game modes will be in League of Legends classic, but there are a few options: normal mode, ranked, co-op vs AI and Dominion. Personally, I really hope Dominion returns, as I actually enjoyed that game mode.

Playable Champions

There are over 60 champions playable in the new game mode, and the picture below, provided by LeagueOfLeaks, showcases some of them. The list includes: Wukong, Ashe, Garen, Malphite, Pantheon, Taric and many more.

There is no confirmed full list of champions who will be in LoL Classic yet, though.

New Battle Pass

There will be a Battle Pass alongside League of Legends Classic. It will give you extra rewards, but nothing is known about it yet. It will probably be IP to buy champions, skins, XP, and IP boosts.
