Best Mid Lane Champions to Climb With in LoL Season 26

The Mid Lane is the most popular role in the game, and you will often find yourself coming up against a very diverse champion pool. In the Mid Lane, so many different champions can be played there: from mages, to bruisers, assassins and marksman, basically anybody can be picked there. However, with such a diverse lineup, it can be tricky to understand which champions are currently the best to play in the Mid Lane.

In this article, we will discuss five of the strongest Mid-Lane champions currently dominating all ELOs and ranks. These champions are consistently strong, are great in team fights, and if you put a lot of practice into them, you see yourself climbing in no time at all.

Before we begin, the data in this article is from our Mobalytics tier list. It is also using Platinum+, global and mid-patch data. While some of these champions might not be statistically the best, they’re very strong overall, and our list is in no order...

1. Talon

Talon remains one of the strongest Mid-lane assassins heading into season 26. His strength lies in his ability to dominate the laning phase and then apply pressure to the side lanes through frequent roaming. Talon is pretty good in both the Mid and Jungle roles right now.

As I said, he is a great roamer, which allows him to leave the lane and impact side lanes to pick up kills. Talon performs well against mages and squishy targets but can struggle against some ranged champions, meaning he often has to play carefully around enemy cooldowns and look to make frequent plays around the map instead so he doesn’t fall behind. This has contributed to his 49.7% win rate on patch 16.1.

In the mid to late game, Talon is excellent at split pushing and assassinating priority targets like the enemy Support or ADC. However, he does suffer against Faelights when the enemy has placed control wards in them, which can limit his all-in potential.

2. Sylas

Sylas has a 48.7% win rate on patch 16.1, but he has benefited from recent item changes that help his scaling and survivability. While his win rate is low, his impact remains very high in both the Mid and Jungle roles.

He is slightly harder to play than many other champions on this list and struggles significantly against long-range mages such as Cassiopeia and Orianna. These matchups are really difficult for him, so you might want to ask your Top Laner to switch. Nonetheless, Sylas requires patience, good awareness, and quite a bit of knowledge and skill to master.

Sylas has good lane pressure, allowing him to rotate and assist his jungler if they choose to invade. He has good pushing power, so he can quickly push and rotate, but this also makes him a strong split pusher during the mid and late game.

3. Syndra

Syndra has a 50.9% win rate on patch 16.1 and performs well against many of the current top mid lane picks. Her reliability and consistent damage make her a strong control mage option.

She excels in team fights, using her E to catch enemies out of position and her ultimate to one-shot carries. This makes her extremely valuable when playing around objectives and coordinated fights, as she can CC multiple champions, or even blow up the enemy carry. When she is full build, her damage output is really high!

Syndra also has good wave clear, allowing her to split push during the mid game. She is relatively simple to play, with the main challenges being proper orb management and maintaining good positioning in lane.

4. Zed

Zed is a fantastic choice to play in League of Legends right now. He is great in both the Mid and Jungle roles, making him a great option for those who like to play both roles. Zed currently has a 49.4% win rate on patch 16.1 and a high play rate in both roles.

As an assassin, Zed is very good at taking down squishy targets in the mid and late game, which has become easier thanks to the introduction of Faelights. Zed can pick up kills on the enemy Support when they go to ward them. After level 6, his ultimate and mobility allow him to outplay opponents and get kill after kill.

Zed also has strong roaming potential, which helps him secure kills for his side lanes or his Jungler. When played well, he can control the game and apply constant pressure across the map.

5. Kassadin

Kassadin has a 51.5% win rate on patch 16.1 and is a strong scaling champion in the current meta. Although he takes time to come online, his late-game power is extremely high. Kassadin has benefited from the mid lane quest and boot bonuses, which help him during the earlier parts of the game where he tends to struggle.

Once Kassadin reaches level 11 and level 16, he becomes incredibly strong and difficult to deal with. This is because he puts the second and third point in his Ultimate, which increases his damage output and his mobility, allowing him to get in and out of fights, chase opponents down and deal tons of damage!

Kassadin is quite difficult to play and requires a strong understanding of wave management. You need to learn how to manipulate waves to ensure you do not fall behind and never get into the game.
