In 2026, Riot Games will be completely changing the League of Legends dynamic. Every year, Riot makes a lot of promising changes to make the game slightly different, and this year is no different. In the new season of League of Legends, we will see a variety of changes, from buffs, nerfs and changes. We will be getting new quests, new items, and some of the objectives have been changed too.
In this Mobalytics article, we will be breaking down everything you need to know about the new changes coming to Season 1 2026. If you prefer to watch the breakdown instead, you can check out Riot’s official video here.
This guide will be quite long, so keep an eye out for the headers!!!
Objective Removals
In 2025, Riot introduced Atakhan. This monster would provide a buff to the team that captured it. Unfortunately, Riot will be removing Atakhan from the game. They will also be removing the Roses that spawn, too. Feats of Strength, which was a mission to complete 2 of 3 quests, has also been removed and no longer gives you the boots upgrade.
Objectives Changes
Alongside the removal of Atakhan and Feats of Strength, Riot is moving the strength to other objectives. They are increasing the epic monsters' durability and decreasing the damage they take.
For epic monsters, they have reduced the gold, the buffs, and made some changes to how they scale.

Faster Loading Times
In 2025, games will start quicker. Minions will start spawning at 30 seconds, rather than the 65 seconds like before. This will reduce the time waiting around in lane, guarding the jungle, or going to the bathroom.
The jungle camps and Rift Scuttler will also spawn 35 seconds earlier than before, so you can start clearing camps earlier too!
Role Quests
Each role will now have a separate quest. Once you have completed your quest, you will get a special bonus. You need to kill minions, champions, get tower plates, destroy towers and secure epic objectives to progress in the quest.
Top Lane: Will gain the Teleport Summoner Spell. If you already have Teleport, it will be upgraded, and when you use it, you’ll have a shield. You will also gain increased XP from all sources, and your new max level is 20 rather than 18.
Jungle: Your pet will be upgraded, and you can Smite enemies. Junglers will gain increased gold and XP from killing monsters. You’ll also have extra movement speed when moving around the jungle.
Mid Lane: You will get tier 3 boot upgrades. You will also get faster recall, which has a cooldown, but you’ll be able to reset quicker.
ADC: You will get a ton of gold. Your gold income from killing minions, getting assists and killing enemies will increase. You’ll have a 7th item slot to hold your boots, allowing ADC players to have 7 full items.
Support: You will receive an additional item slot exclusively for Control Wards. You will also get a discount on Control Wards and increased passive gold generation, which will help you buy items.

Vision and Wards
Riot is introducing Faelights. If you place a ward on these, they grant extra vision. These Faelights will spawn across the map, and will make it easier for people to ward. Keep an eye out on the map as these will spawn throughout the game.
Also, they are changing the recharge rates of yellow trinkets, so you can ward more often.
Split Pushing Power
Crystalline Overgrowth has been introduced, which will help with taking towers and pushing. They build up over time and when you deal damage to the objective, it explodes. Along side this, they are making plates permanent throughout the game. They will also be added to inner and inhib towers.

9 New Items, and 2 Returning Items
There are 9 new items coming to League, and 2 old and familiar items will make a return. There will also be a lot of item changes, but Riot hasn’t really told us about any of them yet.
The items, outside of Hextech Gunblade and Stormrazor, are placeholder names, and taken from Riot’s official release.
Scepter of Bonking: An AP Fighter Sheen item that doubles your on-hits, letting some AP fighters with powerful on-hits in their kit pop off by skipping forward one hit of Diana’s passive or getting an extra Snippy stack for Gwen’s Q.
Emblem of All-Inning: A Zeal item for ADCs that like to ult and pop off. This item gives ultimate ability haste plus a burst of attack speed and guaranteed critical strikes for three attacks after ulting. If you would’ve already crit on these autos, instead you get some bonus true damage.
Blood Sphere: This AD omnivamp item also gives some Tenacity and Haste that scales with your bonus AD. For light fighters, this should be the lategame sustain item of choice, particularly since it gives a large amount of extra omnivamp after you get a takedown to help you pop off in teamfights.
Assassin Item: For AD assassins, this item offers a way to help end the game. Whenever you get a takedown, it grants a buff that makes your next attack against an epic monster or tower deal a large amount of damage over time scaling with your lethality, making it so that ahead AD assassins can close games out if they’re successfully assassinating their targets. It also gives some extra true damage to a spell every so often based on your lethality.
Mananomicon: An item with a new active! The first one in a while, this AP item can be activated to enter an empowered state for a short duration where you consume significantly more mana but your spells are more powerful and have lower cooldowns. The extra damage, healing, and shielding on your spells scales with your mana, so you’re rewarded for investing into it.
Snowbow: This is a long-range item for ADCs. It increases your attack damage based on how far away you are from your target and on takedowns, you also get a large amount of extra attack range for a while to help clean up teamfights.
Buff Engine: An aura item with a bit of gameplay. This is an attack speed aura item for tanky melee supports that turns on the aura for a while after you slow or immobilize an enemy. The duration is much longer for melee champions than ranged, so it’s easier to maintain the attack speed for your team if you’re a tanky melee support.
Mantle of the Twelfth Hour: A lifeline item for tanks, this item gives a large heal-over-time effect when you get low that scales off of your bonus armor and magic resistance. While you’re healing off this item, you also gain some movement speed and tenacity to enable you to go forward and tank more for your team or try to escape to make it out after you were chunked to low health.
Savior’s Manabell + Superbell: This two-item set is a new upgradeable Tear item for enchanters. Manabell grants heal and shield power based on your mana, and when upgraded into Superbell at maximum Tear stacks it also heals your lowest nearby ally every second while you’re in combat with enemy champions, scaling the heal based on your mana.
Hextech Gunblade: One of League’s signature hybrid items, Gunblade gives both AP and AD, spell vamp and lifesteal, and a targeted active dealing damage and slowing the target.
Stormrazor: Stormrazor returns as an Attack Damage, Critical Strike Chance, and Attack Speed item with an Energized effect that deals damage and grants movement speed when primed.
