How to Play

When playing Veigar, you want to farm as many minions as possible with Q to steadily increase his Ability Power. Play patiently during the early game and avoid unnecessary trades until you've built your first AP item.

Ganking for Veigar is great as your E creates amazing opportunities for your jungler to just land your Q + W combo for big damage. When you hit level 6, your ultimate gives you enough burst to instantly threaten enemy mages and other squishy champions.

Runes Explained

For Veigar's runes, we want to start with Magic Penetration Marks since he benefits greatly from increasing the damage of his abilities, especially when combined with his items.

Flat Ability Power Quintessences help boost his early-game damage, making it easier to farm and trade during the laning phase. Armor Seals and Magic Resist Glyphs provide the defensive stats needed to survive the early game and help when Veigar becomes a priority target during team fights.

Masteries Explained

While playing Veigar, you want to play safely, farm up, and scale into a late-game damage threat, which is where the Offense and Utility trees come into play. Prioritize the Offense tree since Veigar makes excellent use of the Cooldown Reduction, Ability Power, and Magic Penetration, allowing him to cast more often and deal even more damage.

For your secondary tree, take Utility for the extra Mana Regeneration and faster Recall, helping you stay in lane longer, farm more efficiently, and reach your power spikes faster.
