How to Play

As Taric, your goal is to play safely early until you’re at least level 4. Unless you have an aggressive ADC who can win a fight at levels 1 or 2, you could go for an aggressive play early with your E. Keep the minion wave closer to your side of the map early and force the enemy to overextend, and then you can all-in them with your E stun and chase them down the lane.

In team fights, protect and peel for your ADC with your E. You should then activate your Ultimate and just keep auto-attacking the CC’d target or the person closest to your ADC. Your goal is to keep them alive and soak up as much damage as you can.

Runes Explained

The best Runes for Taric are 9x Armor Marks, 9x Armor Seals, 9x Magic Resist Glyphs, and 3x Quintessences of Gold. While Taric will get tanky in the mid and late game, going for Armor for Marks and Seals is going to make him even tankier early and protect him from enemy auto-attacks in lane.

The Magic Resistance Glyphs are a good option against AP champions and poke damage, while the gold generated from the Gold Quintessences will help him get his core items earlier.

Masteries Explained

Even though Taric can be quite tanky, he is mostly a utility champion, and thus it’s recommended to take points in the Utility tree rather than the Defensive or Offence tree. We will put 21 points into Utility and 9 into Defence.

The 9 in Defence will help to keep him alive and block incoming AD and AP damage. The 21 points in Utility are key for additional mana so he can make plays in lane, extra gold for more vision and to get his items quicker, and the whole page is designed to make his abilities stronger.
