Changes for Classic

• Vicious Strikes (W) grants attack damage, lifesteal and spell vamp
• Reckless Swing (E) does not heal the health cost

How to Play

Olaf is one of the strongest early game top laners in Classic. Use Q to poke and slow opponents before following up with auto attacks empowered by your W. Try to pick up your axe up after each throw to keep the cooldown low.

Olaf wins extended fights, so don't be afraid to trade aggressively against non melee champions as you gain lifesteal back up using your W. Your ultimate allows you to ignore crowd control and run down squishier targets which can be the game changer in teamfights.

Runes Explained

For Olaf's runes, we want flat amounts of Attack Damage alongside defensive stats. To get the most value, use Attack Damage Marks and Attack Damage Quintessences to increase his damage during trades and improve his overall pressure in lane.

Armor Seals and Magic Resist Glyphs provide the defenses needed to survive against both physical and magic damage throughout the game.

Masteries Explained

While playing Olaf, you want a good balance between offense and defense. Make the Defense tree your main tree since the extra resistances, combined with his items and abilities, make him extremely difficult to take down.

Olaf is still able to make great use of offensive stats, so put your remaining points into the Offense tree for extra Attack Damage and Armor Penetration, allowing him to trade more effectively and have a stronger presence during the laning phase.
