LoL Classic - Malzahar Build

Changes for Classic

• Null Zone (W) is an AoE area for a short time
• Summon Voidling (P) creates a voidling after a number of casts
• Nether Grasp (R) does not have the null zone around the target

How to Play

Focus on controlling the wave with E while harassing opponents with Q. Your lane naturally pushes, so make sure vision is maintained on both sides of the rivers. Don't waste mana trying to constantly poke, your goal is to reach level 6 with good farm so you can buy your first item.

Once you have unlocked your ultimate, coordinate with your jungler whenever possible. Very few champions can survive a full combo if they don't have Flash available. Remember to always press W before you ult to get even more damage out.

Runes Explained

For Malzahar's runes, we want a combination of Ability Power and Magic Penetration to maximize his damage. Magic Penetration Marks are the best choice for increasing the damage of his spells, while Flat Ability Power Quintessences provide a strong boost to his early and late game damage.

Malzahar is at his weakest during the early levels and can be vulnerable to ganks due to his lack of mobility, so Armor Seals and Magic Resist Glyphs help him survive the laning phase and give him the extra defenses he needs to scale into the game.

Masteries Explained

When playing Malzahar, you ideally want to stay at a safe distance and constantly cast your spells, which is why we want to max out the Offense tree. The bonus Cooldown Reduction, Ability Power, and Magic Penetration all work extremely well with Malzahar, increasing the damage of both his abilities and his Voidlings.

We don't gain as much from the Defense tree, so the remaining points should go into Utility. The extra mana regeneration and faster Recall help you stay in lane longer, farm more efficiently, and reach your core items faster.
