How to Play

Leona is an aggressive engage support who should look to make all-ins frequently. During the laning phase, wait for enemies to misposition before engaging with E and using Q to lock them down. While your W makes you super tanky, it is best to wait for the enemy to use one of their abilities and then play aggressively while it is on cooldown. Post 6, you want to be trigger-happy with your Ultimate and look to make plays and get picks.

As you’re the Support, you need to get a Ruby Crystal as soon as you can and make sure you’re constantly buying and placing wards. During mid and late game, look for more opportunities to engage with your Ultimate. Once you’ve gone in, retreat and peel for your ADC and protect them from the enemy frontline.

Runes Explained

The best Runes for Leona are 9x Armor Marks, 9x Armor Seals, 9x Magic Resist Glyphs, and 3x Movement Speed Quintessences. The additional Armor gives Leona some extra protection in lane versus basic attacks, so she can still engage with her E>Q combo, and the Magic Resist Glyphs help against AP Supports and other sources of AP damage. Movement Speed Quintessences make it easier for Leona to roam around the map and create opportunities or gank her Mid Laner.

Masteries Explained

We recommend taking a mix of Offence, Defence and Utility when playing Leona Support. We invest 1 point in Offence to make Ignite and Exhaust more powerful, which is going to increase our kill pressure throughout the game. The rest of the points go into Defence to make her tankier when diving into fights, and Utility for additional gold, mana and vision.
