kogmaw classic runes

The best Runes for Kog'Maw are 9x Mark of Attack Damage, 9x Seal of Armor, 9x Glyph of Magic Resist, and 3x Quintessence of Life Steal. As Kog'Maw is quite squishy and susceptible to poke, the extra Armor and Magic Resist will protect him from incoming damage. The AD and Life Steal will help Kog'Maw while trading.

Masteries

MF Masteries

As Kog'Maw is an ADC, he will be putting 21 points into the offensive tree and 9 points into the defensive tree. The offensive tree is going to help him farm in the early game, as Kog'Maw isn’t the greatest farmer early. We will take the defensive tree to protect him against all-in, as he is notoriously squishy.

How to Play

Kog'Maw is a very squishy and immobile champion, especially in the early game, so you should prioritise farming and getting as much gold and XP as possible, while remaining in a safe position as much as possible. You need time to come online, and are strongest after level 6. However, your Ultimate isn’t as good compared to many ADCs post 6, and you should focus on only taking favourable trades when the enemy missteps or wastes an ability.

In teamfights, make sure you’re as far back as possible behind your frontline so the enemy doesn’t all-in and focus you. As you’re very vulnerable and squishy, if you get blown up and killed, it will be impossible for your team to win the fight. Make sure you’re always with your Support as well.
