How to Play

Kennen is a lane bully who excels at wearing down his opponent before looking for an all-in. Use Thundering Shuriken (Q) and Electrical Surge (W) to constantly poke in lane while stacking your passive. Once an enemy reaches three Marks of the Storm, they'll be stunned, giving you the perfect opportunity to trade or secure a kill. Lightning Rush (E) lets you dodge skillshots, chase fleeing enemies, or escape ganks, so use it wisely rather than wasting it for poke.

Once you unlock Slicing Maelstrom (R) at level 6, your kill pressure skyrockets. Look to flash or dash into the enemy team, lock down multiple targets with your ultimate, and let your teammates clean up the fight. Kennen scales well into the late game, where one well-timed ultimate can completely win a teamfight.

Runes Explained

Kennen's Rune page is built to maximize his early laning strength while ensuring he scales well into teamfights. Magic Penetration Marks increase the damage from all of his abilities, making his poke and all-ins much more threatening. Armor Seals provide valuable protection against auto-attacks during the laning phase, while Magic Resist Glyphs help him trade more effectively against other AP mid laners.

Finally, Ability Power Quintessences give Kennen a strong level 1 power spike, allowing him to harass more effectively and making it easier to pressure opponents from the very start of the game.

Masteries Explained

For Kennen's masteries, you want to max out the Offense tree to boost your damage throughout every stage of the game. The bonus Ability Power, Magic Penetration, and cooldown reduction all work perfectly with Kennen's kit, allowing him to poke more effectively in lane and become a much bigger threat in teamfights.

For your secondary tree, Defense is the best choice. Kennen often has to dive into the enemy team with Slicing Maelstrom, so the extra health, armor, and magic resist help him survive long enough to lock down multiple targets and get the most value out of his ultimate.
