How to Play
Heimerdinger controls the lane through great waveclear and turret placement. Set your turrets up so they can protect each other while also making it difficult for the enemy to farm.
Use your W whenever your opponent dispositions, but avoid wasting mana trying to constantly poke until you have items.
Your lane naturally pushes because of your turrets, so keep river wards up to avoid jungle ganks. Once level 6 is unlocked, your upgrade to your spells make defending objectives and winning team fights much easier.
Runes Explained
For
Heimerdinger's runes, you'll want to prioritize damage and defensive stats. Take Magic Penetration Marks to increase the damage of your abilities and turrets, especially against enemies building Magic Resist.
Ability Power Quintessences provide a strong boost to your overall damage. Since
Heimerdinger is extremely squishy, Armor Seals and Magic Resist Glyphs are excellent defensive choices, helping you survive enemy ganks, lane trades, and teamfights.
Masteries Explained
When playing
Heimerdinger, you should prioritize the Offense tree, as it provides Ability Power, Magic Penetration, and increased damage, all of which greatly enhance the effectiveness of his turrets and abilities.
For your secondary tree, Utility is the best choice. The bonus Mana Regeneration is especially valuable during the laning phase, allowing you to continually place turrets and harass opponents without running out of mana.
