You can upgrade your Q by damaging enemies and getting kills early. The more kills you get, the stronger you will be early.
Your E allows you to reposition and get over walls, but think twice before using it.
Post 6, your Ultimate can deal a lot of AOE damage and provide you with sustain to survive the fight.
Smolder will be vulnerable when his E is down. You will be vulnerable to all-ins from the enemy.
If you do not get an early lead, your power spike will be delayed because you need to upgrade your Q as quickly as possible.
As an ADC, you rely on your allies more than you’d ideally want to. If you’re with a bad Support, it will be hard for you to win the lane.

Get level 2 first and look for a favourable trade with the enemy. Gaining an early health advantage will help you out.
Focus on farming and looking for aggressive plays once the enemy uses an ability. Play around their abilities and look to abuse their cooldowns with your early game damage.
After destroying the bottom lane tower, rotate to the mid lane and try to take that tower. This will open up the map and give your team a gold lead.

Stay with your Support throughout the mid-game. If you move away from them, you will be an easy target for the enemy. Make sure you’re always near at least 1 ally.
Group and stay with your team at all times. Do not split push or avoid grouping unless you have a good reason to be away from them.
Look for picks with your Support/Jungler to get kills and increase your lead. If you kill a key target, you could make the call for Baron.

Stick with your team in the later parts of the game. If you walk away from them and die, it will be 4v5 and the enemy may be able to force a fight or end the game.
Focus the nearest enemy champion in team fights and watch your positioning. Hold on to your for the right opportunity. Do not use it recklessly.
Stick towards the back of your team near the Support so they can peel and protect you.
Your first power spike is at level 3 where you unlock all 3 of your basic abilities. But, you’ll find your strongest at level 4 with 2 points in your first ability.
At level 6, you’ll spike once again as you have your Ultimate which will help in turning fights around.
Another spike in the very early game is when you get your first component item as it will help you trade with the enemy.
Smolder will max out his first ability at level 9, which is usually his Q. His damage output will be quite high in trades.
Furthermore, the more ahead he gets early on, the faster his Q upgrades will be. He should be able to get well-into maxing out his upgrades during the mid-game.
At level 11, Smolder will put his second point in his Ultimate, which will enhance his damage output further.
In the late game, you’ll put a third point in your Ultimate. Your Ultimate’s damage output in fights and skirmishes will be quite high.
Similarly, you would’ve picked up multiple items in the late game, so your damage output should be quite high.
Finally, you would’ve fully upgraded your Q in the earlier parts of the late game (even if you’re slow). So your Q damage will be quite good in the late game when combined with your items.
