Aim your E so it goes through as many minions as possible. The more minions it goes through, the longer the root duration will be if it hits an enemy champion.

For runes, you should pick Press the Attack as your keystone, followed by Triumph, Legend: Bloodline and Last Stand in the primary tree, as well as Conditioning and Overgrowth in the secondary tree.
