Draven Strengths & Weaknesses

Draven is one of the strongest ADC champions around. Use your early game pressure to play aggressive and get kills.

Thanks to his Passive and Spinning AxeQ, Draven can earn more gold than a lot of champions if he is able to cash out on his stacks.

Draven is an incredibly strong 1v1 champion and he can out damage and beat most enemy ADC’s in a 1v1. This makes him a great pick into the majority of ADC matchups.

He has a unique mechanic that makes him incredibly hard to master. Playing around his Spinning AxeQ is crucial for a good Draven, and it does take some time to get used to.

If you die when you have lots of stacks, you’ll miss out on a lot of free gold. Expect the enemy to overwhelm you in the bottom lane to try to shut you down. Make sure you keep the lane warded at all times to reduce the chances of this happening.

Team fighting can be difficult for Draven as he needs to pick up his Axe’s Spinning AxeQ in the fights. If he drops them, he will miss out on damage. Dodging damage, kiting and picking up Axe’s Spinning AxeQ can be quite challenging.

Game plan
Early game
0 - 15 min
Draven is Strong

Use Draven’s early game strength to get kills in lane and gain a gold lead over the enemy. Draven needs to play aggressive in lane.

Play around the enemies abilities to increase your chances of surviving and killing the enemy. If they waste their dash or if the Support uses a hook ability, try to play aggressive.

If you’ve got lots of stacks Spinning AxeQ, don’t be afraid to call for ganks. You have tons of damage and should be able to cash out easily if you can overwhelm the enemy with a gank.

Mid game
15 - 25 min
Draven is Strong

Once you’ve destroyed the first tower in lane, rotate to the mid lane and try to siege the mid tower to open up the map.

While Draven does have tons of kill pressure, it’s important that you do not walk too far away from your team at any given time. Stick with your Support and hold their hand.

Wait for your teammates to make the first move. Let them engage while you focus on auto-attacking the nearest enemy champion and picking up your Axes Spinning AxeQ.

Late game
25+ min
Draven is Average

It is important that you stick with your team in the late game. Do not move around the map or go anywhere unless someone is with you.

Stand towards the back end of your team near your Support. Avoid walking too far away from anyone in the late game. Getting caught out will result in the enemy being able to push their advantage and finish the game.

Watch your positioning in the late game. Focus on kiting and auto-attacking the nearest enemy champion. Avoid walking too far forward so you do not get caught out and focused by the enemy. Use your Stand AsideE as a self peel tool.

Power Spikes
Early game0 - 15 min

Draven’s early game is solid. He can out trade most bottom lane champions due to his Spinning AxeQ. You must look for fights in the early game to cash out from your Passive.

Draven’s level 6 power spike is powerful. His Ultimate Whirling DeathR can be used during skirmishes, unlike some ADC’s such as Caitlyn. Commit to all-ins if you have a slight lead so you can, again, cash out from your Passive.

After Draven’s first back, he will be able to out trade the enemy laners because of his Spinning AxeQ. Regardless of if the enemy ADC picked up the same items as you, you will still win a fight. A good Draven is not scared of the enemy- keep that in mind.

Mid game15 - 25 min

When Draven maxes his Spinning AxeQ at level 9, his damage output will be incredibly high when trading with the enemy. It will also be on a shorter cooldown which is helpful if you’ve recently dropped an Axe Spinning AxeQ.

Depending on how far or behind Draven is, he may be very strong in the mid-game or incredibly weak. It is vital that he doesn’t overextend or get killed at the start of the fight to ensure he can dish out as much damage as possible.

Regardless of how ahead or behind he is, Draven will have a lot of damage in the mid-game thanks to his Spinning AxeQ.

Late game25+ min

Draven will be able to one-shot the enemy in the late game as long as he watches his positioning and doesn’t get caught out.

At level 13, Draven will max his second ability. This is great for Draven because it will allow offer him additional protection in the late game.

Draven’s level 16 is pretty good. The extra damage his Ultimate Whirling DeathR offers him will come in handy and allow him to execute enemies. As his Ultimate Whirling DeathR is an AOE ability, it will also deal damage to multiple champions at once.
