Overview

In Guildrun, all heroes can be viable under the right circumstances. You could easily make a case for almost every spec in the game, because when the stars align, any hero can be outstanding in their role.

However, due to the random nature of the game, certain heroes will shine more often than others. And so, we're here to provide a tier list to help guide your decision-making on the rift!

Disclaimer: This guide is based on the Guildrun Demo, so please keep in mind that everything is subject to change as new patches get released.

Methodology

We're ranking all 25 heroes based on their viability in Red Rifts. If you're playing on any of the Endless difficulties, take these rankings with a grain of salt. After all, team size is a much lower priority when funds are limited and death count matters.

Heroes will be ordered based on how frequently they can be used overall (from C to S). Those who fulfill a wider range of roles, such as helping in both Act 1 and Act 2, will generally be rated higher. However, there may be cases where a hero's limited performance is so strong that it justifies a higher placement.

All that said, Guildrun is patched frequently, so expect things to change.

S-Tier: The over-performers. These heroes stand out in terms of power and utility, often acting as a key component of many teams, regardless of synergies. Low commitment, high payoff.

A-Tier: Strong heroes that are generally flexible and well worth investing into. They excel in their role, and have the potential to carry you through the early, mid, and/or late game (usually 2 of 3).

B-Tier: Important role players that either define their archetype, or shine during a particular phase of the run. They aren't far behind in power level, but generally require more item investment and/or synergies.

C-Tier: Solid but situational. Heroes in this tier often lack utility compared to the others of their class, or require optimal timing in order to stand out. They can still work, but have less common use cases.

D-Tier: Extremely niche. While their power ceiling may be high, they can be difficult to use compared to other heroes. Often purchasable at higher ranks, but rarely a go-to choice early on.

S-Tier Heroes

Grace — Always useful on any team thanks to The Selfless spec, adding Shield on Backup. She also has the unique ability to revive team members in battle, which can potentially save a run.

Funke — He provides reliable AoE damage, and all three specs are strong and flexible to use. He can easily carry non-boss fights with the right synergies, but even without he's still solid.

SalFrost is the strongest Debuff in the game and Permafrost provides it by default. All three specs can be really strong, and when utilized well, she greatly amplifies your team.

A-Tier Heroes

Aria – She has power and utility thanks to the combined Burn and Frost of Requiem Barrage, while also offering excellent Shield support with The Harmony.

Ratna — There's huge snowball potential with Starfall, which combines well with all three specs (she can even tank with Mage Armor). Best used when found early, but still great as a Backup.

Rowan — As a dual-class Tank + Vanguard, he has great defenses from the start, while also scaling HP throughout the game with The Friend spec.

Pimenta — One of the most flexible Tank heroes that provides a ton of utility with each spec. She can stack Debuffs, scale Attack Speed, or strengthen her Poison and defenses.

Kai — Has absurd burst damage with Resolute Strike, especially with dedicated Mystic support to provide him more Shield. With proper investment he can also become the lead Tank.

Gustav — He fulfills a unique role as a Tank and Mystic. While weak early, he has very strong Shielding once equipped. He can also grant team-wide Mana Regen and Shards on Backup.

Tilly — A great unit from the start who can help generate Shards. She mainly excels in Act 1, but can occasionally function as a Tank using defensive items plus Omnivamp from The Elegant.

B-Tier Heroes

Irini — She massively benefits from scaling Stall and Rush triggers, dealing huge damage with The Electric spec. A very strong DPS, but requires investing into synergies.

Pollen — A very strong source of healing and Shielding during the later parts of a run. She can fit flexibly onto most teams, but definitely requires Mana items to be effective.

Yuuna — She's a strong early game DPS that has access to Shard generation as The Collector, along with potential for long-term scaling when building The Shadow.

Dragomir — His Devour offers Shards on-kill from C-Rank, giving him nice early utility. He also scales very well with Omnivamp, giving him some innate defenses over other DPS heroes.

Nyx — The absolute best hero for scaling both Stall and Rush triggers, allowing you to build up a ton of stacks over the course of the game. Definitely requires synergies to be worth using.

Ming — A strong early game frontliner that can actually double as your DPS. Requires Rush support to succeed later on, but is still a great pickup to help get through Act 1.

Karsu — She excels at applying Frost during boss fights, making her an ideal swap-in from the bench. However, the random targeting of Snowpiercer means she fairs poorly everywhere else.

Fiona — Less combat utility than other Mystic heroes, but she can Shield much more often. However, her greatest strength is spawning items as The Right Hand.

Rip — He has a huge ceiling with dedicated Rush support, functioning as a large HP Tank that can also become your carry. Synergies are a must, but the power is there.

C-Tier Heroes

Logan — He has the potential to become an insane carry with The Momentous if found and invested into early. That said, his floor is very low, outside of The Juggernaut (which is alright).

Zuri — As The Bladedancer she feels unkillable in Act 1, but she will quickly fall off compared to other Tank heroes. If you can fuel her Mana via Backup effects, The Cruel does have potential.

Skorn — Having Frost is nice, but waiting for Stall to trigger it can be a real issue. He definitely needs help with sustain, whereas most other Tank heroes have some by default.

Reyna — She can be strong when found early at higher ranks, but fills an awkward niche as a semi-tanky DPS. You'll often need extra sources of Shield to keep her going on the frontlines.

Hoyoung — He has solid early game damage and can generate Shards like other Assassins, but his highest potential is The Conduit, if found early. However, outside of that he's pretty mediocre.

D-Tier Heroes

Niklas — A very wacky hero due to his item eating mechanic, making him an awkward choice when funds are limited. That said, at A or S rank as The Dealer, he can pump out a TON of value.
