Guildrun Class Guide: How to Play Warrior

Overview

The Warrior class utilizes its high Attack stat to deal big damage with its auto attacks and abilities. It leans aggressively with its Rush synergies, while packing some Shield to keep them going. As melee units, they are less bulky than Tanks and Vanguards, but can still hold their own for a time.

Builds can definitely impact their usage, more so than other classes, as it'll determine whether you're leaning towards offense or defense. Let's take a closer look to better evaluate their potential.

How to Play Warrior

Warrior Mechanics: Crit, Rush, Shield

Warrior heroes are quite strong out the gate at C-Rank, as they have some natural bulk while still hitting for impressive damage. However, given how fast enemies scale, you'll need to have a game plan to keep them going effectively.

Their Shield capabilities are mostly limited to cast, meaning they can be rather vulnerable before the first activation goes off. Plus, without defensive items, they may also need extra support in between casts. As usual, having a reliable Mystic definitely helps.

Overall, Warriors are a class that rewards proper investment. Since hero space is limited, they do compete with Tanks and Vanguards on the frontlines. But if you're able to scale them accordingly, they can definitely stand out on the battlefield.

Warrior Heroes

Kai

  • Base Class: Warrior
  • Multiclass: Tank
  • Starting Ability: Resolute Strike
  • Specializations: The Unstoppable, The Bold, The Intrepid

Kai has impressive Shield and burst potential right from the beginning, allowing him to carry early fights even without any investment. Resolute Strike effectively makes him a Tank on its own.

  • The Unstoppable — A really solid choice if you have multiple sources of Shield. Usually at least one Mystic, plus a combination of relics and/or Backup effects.
  • The Bold — Often the go-to as it improves his Resolute Strike, while also granting the Tank class. If acquired early, it helps charge the Tank part of the Rift Seal in Red Rift runs.
  • The Intrepid — A lot more narrow in usage, but does provide strong (temporary) Crit for Warriors. If anything, it's at least a Backup Rush trigger to help scale other abilities.

Logan

  • Base Class: Warrior
  • Multiclass: None
  • Starting Ability: Execution
  • Specializations: The Iron, The Juggernaut, The Momentous

Logan is the warrior counterpart of Ratna, offering a huge payoff if you can invest early and start snowballing. The Quests make it harder to pull off, but he has great potential if used accordingly.

  • The Iron — Provides a Rush trigger alongside a Backup effect that scales throughout the run. If you're heavily invested into Rush synergies, it's a decent pickup.
  • The Juggernaut — Has the ability to make Logan function as a Tank, IF you're able to get him to cast in time. The Shield gain is potentially massive if you've built up his offense.
  • The Momentous — Only worth choosing when found early. This spec combined with Execution gives Logan a huge ceiling, but you'll need to ensure he can secure enough kills.

Reyna

  • Base Class: Warrior
  • Multiclass: Vanguard, Duelist
  • Starting Ability: Triple Threat
  • Specializations: The Champion, The Brawler, The Boxer

Reyna comes with built-in sustain, as Triple Threat can create a large amount of lasting Shields. She hits fast and hard, and is pretty flexible with her choice to multiclass.

  • The Champion — Specifically dedicated to Rush synergies, especially alongside other Warriors. But just like Kai and Logan, it's always an optional Backup Rush trigger.
  • The Brawler — A solid choice to improve her Shielding. If you have additional ways to apply more Shield or scale Max HP permanently, this gets even better.
  • The Boxer — This greatly ramps up her damage while unlocking Duelist synergies, many of which are excellent. Reyna has carry potential with this spec.

Tilly

  • Base Class: Warrior, Duelist
  • Multiclass: None
  • Starting Ability: Luxurious
  • Specializations: The Stylish, The Sharp, The Elegant

guildrun tilly splash

Tilly is a great opening unit thanks to her passive Shard generation at C-Rank. This provides a reliable source of Shards early on, since it triggers on auto attacks instead of on-kill.

  • The Stylish — Often more niche in usage, but has real potential if you have a strong way to generate a lot of Shards (ex. Acceleration Filigree).
  • The Sharp — Great zero commitment Backup utility for Duelists and Warriors.
  • The Elegant — The obvious choice if you're investing items into Tilly, allowing her to deal impressive AoE damage that scales equally with Attack, Magic, and Attack Speed.

Multiclass Heroes

Hoyoung

  • Base Class: Assassin
  • Multiclass: Mystic, Warrior
  • Starting Ability: Killshot
  • Specializations: The Conduit, The Hunter, The Sniper

guildrun hoyoung splash

Hoyoung has the unique ability to target the enemy backliners as The Sniper. This can help solve certain positioning issues, and allow you to pick off key threats much earlier.

Karsu

  • Base Class: Duelist
  • Multiclass: Warrior
  • Starting Ability: Snowpiercer
  • Specializations: The Falling Snow, The Warband, The Frostbite

guildrun karsu splash

Karsu imbues her auto attacks with Frost as The Frostbite, making her shine as a Debuffer, especially in boss fights. It's one of the more consistent ways to apply Frost and doesn't require any Mana to get started.

Sal

  • Base Class: Mage
  • Multiclass: Duelist, Warrior
  • Starting Ability: Permafrost
  • Specializations: The Breezy, The Lover (Sal), The Brisk

Sal The Brisk gains an impressive damage increase and can apply even more Frost than before. You'll need to solve Crit in order to make it work, but the reward is well worth the effort.
