Overview

The Mystic class is made for support, utilizing Mana Regen as its primary stat in order to cast frequently and bolster the team. Shield is an essential part of their kit, and is commonly desired no matter what comp you're playing.

While each Mystic shares the same objective, they each have their own methods for accomplishing their goal. Let's explore the ins and outs of their unique tactics.

How to Play Mystic

Mystic Mechanics: Shield, Shard, Debuffs, Stall

Mystic heroes are often essential to keeping your team alive. While the Tank can often hold their own for a time, it's the Mystic that helps ensure they survive until the next cast. A split second can make all the difference, and in Guildrun, you're better off safe than sorry.

Among the classes, Mystics tend to be the weakest early on. Their active abilities typically cost a lot of Mana, meaning items are necessary to make them reliable. In particular, and even more important than Mages, Starting Mana is absolutely key. There's nothing worse than dying before the first cast.

During the late game, Mystics can help you reach the point where your team feels unkillable. However, be mindful of your damage output so that you don't lose out to the storm. Since Stall plays a key role, you'll definitely want to have enough scaling for longer combats.

Mystic Heroes

Fiona

  • Base Class: Mystic
  • Multiclass: Vanguard
  • Starting Ability: Vault Spark
  • Specializations: The Right Hand, The Lustrous, The Tycoon

Fiona is an opportunist among Mystic heroes. Her strengths come from capitalizing on the right moment, rather than forcing her into position. It's all about timing.

  • The Right Hand — This spec offers incredible value if found early, especially at A/S rank. However, you need to be able to cast often to make it worth it, so having Starting Mana/Mana Regen helps.
  • The Lustrous — A decent low commitment Backup option if you have enough Shield.
  • The Tycoon — It's got potential to scale a good amount of Max HP, which would be an excellent bonus from the bench. That said, it requires a lot of casts in order to build up stacks.

Grace

  • Base Class: Mystic
  • Multiclass: None
  • Starting Ability: Salvation
  • Specializations: The Selfless, The Benevolent, The Radiant

Grace is the quintessential support hero that is welcome on any team, despite rarely appearing on the frontlines. She's a classic healer with global Shield capabilities.

  • The Selfless — Most commonly utilized for its Backup Only effect, providing a team-wide Heal and Shield twice during the fight. A staple addition to any composition.
  • The Benevolent — A solid choice when acquired early on, allowing you to permanently scale the primary stats of targeted heroes. It'll likely hit the Tank most of the time, and that's great.
  • The Radiant — Best utilized on Backup when running more than one Mystic. If you've got consistent sources of Shield, it can solve the need for Attack/Magic scaling.

Gustav

  • Base Class: Mystic
  • Multiclass: Tank
  • Starting Ability: Blizzard
  • Specializations: The Investor, The Glacier, The Avalanche

Gustav can play multiple roles, acting as a supportive caster, defensive Tank, or even a Shard investor. Whatever you choose, Frost and Shield are at the heart of his abilities.

  • The Investor — If found early and you can spare the Shards, the payoff is extremely rewarding. Extra income aside, having passive class-agnostic Mana Regen on Backup is really strong.
  • The Glacier — Allows Gustav to double as Tank and support, while also scaling Defense permanently over time. That said, he'll definitely need some Starting Mana in order to cast on time.
  • The Avalanche — Only worth using if you have extra Shard generation, as he won't cast quickly enough to sustain the spec himself.

Pollen

  • Base Class: Mystic
  • Multiclass: Mage
  • Starting Ability: Sanctuary of Bloom
  • Specializations: The Bloomer, The Fae's Kiss, The Earth's Child

guildrun pollen splash

Pollen excels as a backline support unit with her combined Healing and Shielding. She needs some items and/or scaling to truly come online, but once active, she becomes a vital means of survival.

  • The Bloomer — Always a reliable choice for the improved Healing and Shielding.
  • The Fae's Kiss — This can be useful if you're building specifically towards Poison synergies, but otherwise it's a fine Backup effect on slower Debuff-based teams.
  • The Earth's Child — Adds Frost and Burn into the mix, but more importantly, allows Pollen to benefit from Mage synergies (and there's a lot of good ones).

Multiclass Heroes

Aria

  • Base Class: Mage
  • Multiclass: Mystic
  • Starting Ability: Requiem Barrage
  • Specializations: The Crescendo, The Resplendent, The Harmony

Aria has high potential as a Mystic, but requires good item investment to truly make her shine. With The Harmony and proper positioning, Requiem Barrage can apply a ton of Shield.

Hoyoung

  • Base Class: Assassin
  • Multiclass: Mystic, Warrior
  • Starting Ability: Killshot
  • Specializations: The Conduit, The Hunter, The Sniper

guildrun hoyoung splash

Hoyoung gains access to a powerful Backup effect with The Conduit, but it requires a lot of early investment to make it work. A high ceiling, but a low floor.

Ratna

  • Base Class: Mage
  • Multiclass: Mystic, Assassin
  • Starting Ability: Starfall
  • Specializations: The Fashionable, The Ostentatious, The Magnanimous

guildrun ratna splash

Ratna The Ostentatious is a great choice if you need to solve scaling for your casters. If you've scaled her Magic enough with Starfall, even a single cast can be a big help to the team. Worst case, she can fall back onto the bench for Backup support.
