Starting Out – Normal Difficulty

When you first step into Season 10, there’s no need to overcomplicate things. Begin on Normal difficulty to get a smooth start. This makes it easier to complete early objectives while still being able to kill monsters fast and efficiently.

Equip Yourself

  • Equip your pet – this is easily forgotten at the start and is very important for saving time.
  • Put on cosmetics – You can’t do good, if you don’t look good!
  • Unlock Mercenaries – If you have the Vessel of Hatred, head to the Den to equip your Mercenaries for aid during leveling.

First Quests to Tackle

  • Raising Spirits Quest – Knock this out early for both herbs and a chunk of XP. This is located in Kyovashad next to the World Tree. Accept the quest and walk to the training soldiers training very close to the quest start. Pull up your emote wheel and cheer. This will complete the quest.
  • Seasonal Questline – Start this as soon as possible. Unlocking your seasonal perks and reputation board early sets the tone for the rest of your leveling journey.

Early Game Grinding – Helltides

Helltides are the backbone of early leveling in Season 10.

  • By level 15, aim to farm 800 Cinders. Swap to the hardest difficulty that you can survive in once you’re ready, mount up, and rush to open as many Helltide chests as possible. The experience boost is substantial.
  • If whispers are available, save them for after swapping to Pentitent difficulty. Turning them in at a higher difficulty gives even better rewards.
  • Always budget at least 10 minutes before Helltide ends to ensure you can open your chests.

Transition to Nightmare Dungeons

Your next big step is Nightmare Dungeons.

  • Farm Nightmare Sigil Powder from Helltide chests, Whisper Caches (the most reliable source), and standard dungeon clears.
  • Use this powder to craft your first Nightmare Sigil. If luck is on your side, you may even create a Forgotten Whisper Sigil.
  • Once you’ve crafted your first sigil, Nightmare Dungeons become your new home. These provide incredible XP and gear progression as you scale up.
  • To break up the grind, complete Grim Favors for Whisper Caches—these can be turned in at any major city for rewards and more Sigil opportunities.

Levels 45–50+ – Strongholds to Push to 60

Once you’re in the mid-40s, it’s time to change gears. Strongholds scattered around Sanctuary become the most efficient way to finish your journey to level 60.

  • Why Strongholds? Each stronghold provides a massive chunk of XP upon completion, often outpacing traditional dungeon farming at this stage.
  • Best Timing: Start them around level 45–50, when your build feels solid and you can clear the tougher enemy packs efficiently.
  • Chain Them Together: Plan a route across the map to clear multiple strongholds in one session. This not only pushes you to 60 faster but also unlocks new waypoints, vendors, and activities in each zone.

By the time you finish most of the strongholds, you should be well on your way to level 60 and ready for endgame systems.

Don’t Skip the Undercity

The Undercity’s Tributes of Growth offer a strong source of XP early on. If you manage to complete a Forgotten Wisdom Nightmare Dungeon, your gains are even better. Don’t overlook this area, especially in the early stretch.

Mid-Game Flow – Alternating Systems

Each time Helltides rotate, jump back in to finish all Grim Favors, then return to your Nightmare Dungeon loop.

This back-and-forth ensures you’re constantly gaining XP, resources, and fresh sigils.

Final Notes on Efficiency

  • Prioritize scaling content where your build can clear quickly—don’t push higher difficulties too early if it slows you down.
  • Remember: consistency beats bursts. Sticking to the loop of Helltides → Nightmare Dungeons → Grim Favors → repeat is the proven fastest way forward.
