Diablo 4 Spiritborn BuildThorns Rocksplitter

Gorilla (Primary - Level 15)

Used in the following variants:

• T1 - T2
• T3
• T4

The obvious choice for this build as it gives us 100% Thorns Damage on EVERY attack on top of our 100% Rocksplitter Thorns Damage. It also grants us a form of constant Barrier Generation so adds an extra layer of early defense to the build as well.

Gorilla (Secondary - Level 15)

Used in the following variants:

• T1 - T2
• T3
• T4
• Uber (Farming)

We take the double Gorilla Spirit Hall setup in preparation for later on when we will look to double down on the Thorns Damage when using a Loyalty's Mantle Helm.

This provides us with extra Resolve Stacks and a means of frequent Unstoppable on the build very early on which is very useful for combatting Crowd Control Effects

Jaguar (Primary - Mythic+)

Used in the following variants:

• Uber (Farming)
• Uber (Pit Pushing)

The Jaguar Primary Spirit Hall gives us incredble damage output by encapsulating all the damage dealt in the past 0.5 seconds and deal that to all enemies hit by that attack instance. If we deal big damage to a lot of enemies around us just before this activates, it creates a big burst of damage which outweights what the Gorilla Primary Spirit Hall can do for us right now.

On top of this it makes all our skills Jaguar Skills which means that we will activate the Primary Effect more often as well as unlock any Jaguar Skill mechanics our Rocksplitter Skill didn't have access to before.

Jaguar (Secondary - Mythic+)

Used in the following variants:

• Uber (Pit Pushing)

The Jaguar Secondary Spirit Hall grants us an additional 2 stacks of Ferocity which in turn grants us 10% Attack Speed and More Mystic Circle Damage. When it comes to Pit Pushing this just helps us squeeze out every little bit of damage we can.

If you happen to come across any of the following uniques whilst levelling they will greatly boost your build:

Razorplate (Chest Armour)

This chest piece is the bread and butter of any pure Thorns build and will greatly boost the damage of the build if you're lucky enough to stumble across one whilst levelling. It may not seem by much but don't be deceived, with the Gorilla Primary Spirit Hall plus the baked in Rocksplitter Thorns Damage it packs a punch!

Sepazontec (Quarterstaff)

If you find one of these whilst levelling you will almost certainly annihilate the level 1 - 60 run. This weapon is what brings the Rocksplitter Thorns online properly in the endgame. It is possible that the Obol Vendor will be stronger in Season 8 so maybe gambling one will be possible early on.

Balazan's Maxtlatl (Unique Pants)

This Unique pants is newly added to Season 9 and allows a far greater and more consitent level of Thorns Damage on any skill setup that uses them due to the nature of the Close Damage Thorns Damage and scaling Poision Damage.

Loyalty's Mantle (Helm)

This is non essential but if you do come across one it will double down on your Double Gorilla Spirit Halls boosting your Damage, Barrier Generation and making it even easier to sustain permanent Unstoppable early on.

Harlequin Crest

This Helm is extremely strong for this setup because of the following:

• The sheer amount of Cooldown Reduction it offers us.
• Helps us solve Armour.
• Gives us a load of Maximum Health.
• Grants us 20% Damage Reduction.
• Grants us +4 All Ranks.

The Damage Reduction is very nice for helping us stay alive in the harder content whilst the +4 All Ranks boosts all our skills and reducing the Cooldown on The Hunter to the lowest it can be of 8.1 seconds.

Moni + Xan

Used as the following:

• Overpower Thorns

The Xan Rune is the Magic Sauce that allows us to Overpower our Thorns. This in conjunction with the Moni Rune allows us to activate this every 6 Attacks so stacking Attack Speed is extremely favourable on this build.

The Moni/Wat + Xol/Xan combo does allow us to activate the Overpower effect every 4 attacks but without Vortex in the build it feels worse to use than the above setup

Igni + Que

Used as the following:

• Generate Barrier

The Que Rune grants us the ability to generate *45%[x] of our Maximum Life as Barrier which with some Barrier Generation on the build it can allow us to permanently generate our Maximum Life as Barrier. This grants us incredible defence as well as our maximum damage from the Viscous Shield Legendary Paragon Node. The Igni Rune allows us to activate this frequently enough that it can be kep with a *100% uptime so long as you don't sustain too much damage between activations.

Neo + Kry

Used as the following:

• Adds Vortex to the build

The Kry Rune grants us access to the Vortex Skill without having to have it on our Skill Bar which is a problem for this build since there are a lot of passive abilities we want active in order to scale our Thorns Damage and none of the Unique Rings really play an optimal part in the build this season. The Neo Rune works very well here so long as you aren't sustaining Health Damage frequently and will allow us to activate Vortex** extremely frequently.

If you find you are sustaining Health Damage too often then I would recommend using the Igni Rune until you can get to the point you feel you can swap back to the Neo Rune.

I would recommend going and completing the new Season 9 mechanic so that you can get hold of the following Horadric Powers early on. These will boost your Damage Output and Movement Speed helping to speed up the levelling process:

Disintegrate (Main Power)

This is a great option now that it has been buffed to be larger and easier to use. This combined with the Luminate Eye Jewel means it can be cast roughly every 4 Seconds.

Corrosive Vapour (Infusion)

The obvious choice when using the Balazan's Maxtlatl Unique Pants as it helps scale the Poison Damage even further.

Bottled Wind (Arcana)

This is a great early option for the build as it gives us a way to generate Barrier through our Seasonal Mechanics adding another layer of defence to the build.

Sapping Crux (Arcana)

This will allow us to apply Vulnerable to enemies affected by our catalyst.

Bloody Charm (Arcana)

This grants the build the means to Execute Enemies using the catalyst power. This will be very helpful when trying to clear large group of mobs all tightly packed together.

I would recommend going and completing the new League Mechanics that are part of Season 9 that you can get hold of the following Horadric Jewels from Astaroth at the end of Escalation Dungeons in any Torment Difficulty.

Seal of Denial

This provides us with 30%[x] Thorns Damage and 30% Barrier Generation.

Luminate Eye

This grants our catalyst 25% Cooldown allowing us to use it more frequently.

Idol From Below

This provides us with a Primary Stat Boost as well as a boost to our Maximum Life and also making us Unhindered. It will spawn more difficult Jewel Guardian's to fight though.
