Diablo 4 Build

Mekuna's Payback Thorns

presentationSpiritborn
Season 10
Updated on Nov 30, 2025

Build Overview

This is currently one of the strongest Spiritborn builds in the game. It focuses on the Spiritborn's gorilla skill, Payback, to unleash massive AoE damage.
Poised Payback turns the skill into a Core Skill, while the Rod of Kepeleke makes it a Basic Skill, letting us spam it endlessly. When combined with the seasonal power Combined Strikes, the build unleashes insane damage!

This is an endgame build that requires all the seasonal powers and Chaos Armor to function properly. I’d recommend using Evade build to progress through T1–T4 and farm the necessary gear.

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • Strongest Build
  • Good Mobility
  • Big AoE

Build Variants

  • This is the endgame version of the build with Mythic Uniques. It’s the most versatile setup, suitable for all content!
Make sure to always have Rod of Kepeleke
  • It does not matter which gear slot the Chaos unique occupies, as long as it isn’t a slot reserved for non-Chaos items.
  • If you don’t have the Chaos version, a regular Unique will still outperform a Legendary item. So make sure to have all the Unique, Chaos version or not.

Masterworking (MW) enhances an item's stats. Each MW rank boosts all affixes by 5%, but Ranks 4, 8, and 12 give a 25% bonus to one random affix.

  • MW Rank 4 (blue): one affix gets a +25% bonus.
  • MW Rank 8 (blue or yellow): a second +25% bonus is applied, if it hits the same affix again, it turns yellow.
  • MW Rank 12 (blue, yellow, or orange): a third +25% bonus is applied, if an affix is hit three times, it turns orange.

Use the Masterworking menu at Blacksmiths. MW ranks can be reset if needed.
You don't have to triple MW everything, but it's more optimal if you can. If not, aim for at least 2 MWs. Most of the time, other stats are fine.
