Early Game
Extra Stamina is a mandatory item that helps you fight and gank more.Look to play aggressive and risky during laning phase as you'll often have more health and tankiness than your opponents with
Extra Health. Based on your matchup considering building
Reactive Barrier or 
Healing Rite.
Mid Game (Core Items)
Buy these ASAP after lane phase.
Heroic Aura's active gives you additional oomph to catch enemies and gun them down. Don't forget to use it! 
Healbane works particularly well with Shiv due to its instant heal, which synergizes very well with 
Bloodletting and 
Killing Blow.
Late Game
These are often luxury items, so upgrade your slots as needed.
Buy
Leech , the other items are important too but Leech is key.
Situational Items
If you're filthy rich and the game goes long, consider
Curse, 
Inhibitor, and 
Vampiric Burst.Against
Pocket and/or 
Infernus, 
Debuff Remover is a good pick up.
