Anomaly

Miyabi’s kit has been revealed from both the Version 1.4 livestream and creator server info. As the game’s 4th Anomaly Agent, Miyabi is entering a space with lots of competition, but also synergy.

Lots of players are expecting Miyabi to be very powerful due to her canonical title of Void Hunter. From the looks of things, Miyabi may be the peak of what Anomaly teams can accomplish, but things can always change in the future.

ZZZ Miyabi Release Date

Miyabi’s banner last for the entire duration of Version 1.4, which will run from December 18th, 2024 to January 29th, 2025. This will be the first time a banner will run for the whole Version.

ZZZ Miyabi Kit Review

Frost

Firstly, Miyabi is introducing a “new” Attribute called Frost. For the most part, Frost is the same as Ice. Frost DMG will be affected by things like enemy Ice RES, Ice DMG%, etc. However, the main difference is that Frost will apply a special Anomaly that differs from Ice.

Frost Anomaly (Frostburn)

Frost will apply the same Anomaly effects as Ice (Freeze/Shatter/Frostbite). However, Miyabi’s Core Passive also introduces a new Anomaly effect: Frostburn. When dealing Frost DMG, Miyabi will apply Icefire. Icefire will buff Miyabi’s Anomaly Buildup, and when she applies Frostbite, it will consume the Icefire to trigger Frostburn.

Frostburn is a large single-damage tick of damage similar to Shatter. Frostburn will continue to linger (for 20 seconds) and buff the Anomaly Buildup of the entire team.

Icefire cannot be reapplied to enemies with Frostburn, but triggering another Anomaly will remove Frostburn, allowing you to reapply.

Lastly, the Freeze, Shatter, and Frostbite from Frost can trigger Disorder, including with another Ice Agent.

Anomaly Differences

While Miyabi is an Anomaly Agent, she does not scale in the same way as other Anomaly Agents. Most Anomaly Agents scale their damage with Anomaly Proficiency, Anomaly Mastery, and ATK%.

However, Miyabi’s Frost Buildup scales with Crit Rate through her Core Passive (up to 80% Crit Rate). Her Frostburn damage is also a large ATK% multiplier (and doesn’t scale with Anomaly Proficiency), meaning your two priority stats are Crit Rate and ATK%.

Note that Freeze/Shatter will scale with Anomaly Proficiency, but this is not the main source of damage from her kit.

Because of this, Miyabi will be built more like a traditional Crit DPS, but her damage will be done through Anomaly effects.

Fallen Frost / Enhanced Basic Attack

Miyabi has a special stack mechanic called Fallen Frost. Miyabi can have up to 6 stacks of Fallen Frost and will enter battle with 3. When holding Basic Attack, Miyabi will ready her stance and charge up to 3 levels, each consuming 2 stacks of Fallen Frost. This mechanic will be your main focus, and other parts of her kit look to build up Fallen Frost so you can expend it on charged Basic Attacks.

Here are the sources of Fallen Frost:

  • 1 Point – Trigger Frostburn (once every 10s)
  • 2 Points – Another squad member triggers Disorder
  • 2 Points – EX Special
  • 2 Points – EX Special part 2
  • 3 Points – Ultimate

ZZZ Miyabi Skills

Core Skills Zenless Zone Zero Core Passive (Max Level)

Core Passive: Searing Cold

When Hoshimi Miyabi deals Frost DMG, she applies Icefire to the target, lasting 30s. When accumulating Frost Anomaly Buildup against targets with Icefire, increases Frost Anomaly Buildup Rate by 100% of Hoshimi Miyabi’s CRIT Rate, up to a maximum increase of 80%. As Hoshimi Miyabi accumulates Frost Anomaly Buildup, it has its own independent Attribute Anomaly Buildup gauge and triggers Freeze, Shatter, and Frostbite that can react with other Attribute Anomalies, including Ice Attribute Anomaly, to trigger Disorder.

When Hoshimi Miyabi applies Frostbite to enemies with Icefire, it will consume the Icefire to trigger Frostburn – Break, dealing Frost DMG equal to 1500% of Hoshimi Miyabi’s ATK and causing the target to enter the Frostburn state. All squad members accumulate 20% more Anomaly Buildup against enemies under the Frostburn state, but Hoshimi Miyabi cannot reapply Icefire to these enemies. The Frostburn state ends when Frostbite expires. While this state remains active, triggering another Attribute Anomaly will overwrite Frostbite and remove Frostburn.

Upon triggering Frostburn – Break, Hoshimi Miyabi obtains 1 point of Fallen Frost. This effect can trigger once every 10s.

Additional Ability Bask in Frost

When another character in your squad is a Support character or shares the same faction:

Basic Attack: Shimotsuki DMG increases by 60%. When any squad member triggers Disorder, Hoshimi Miyabi obtains 2 points of Fallen Frost and Basic Attack: Shimotsuki during the next Shimotsuki Stance will ignore 30% of the target’s Ice Res.

Miyabi ZZZ Mindscape Cinema

M1 Frost Atop the Snow: While in Shimotsuki Stance, every 1 point of Fallen Frost consumed will allow Basic Attack: Shimotsuki to ignore 6% of DEF, stacking up to 6 times and lasting until Shimotsuki Stance ends. When the slash for charge level three of Basic Attack: Shimotsuki hits an enemy under Frostburn, it will immediately remove the Frostburn state and increase all squad members’ Anomaly Buildup Rate by 20% for 10s.
M2 Breath Technique: Basic Attack: Kazahana and Dodge Counter DMG increases by 30%. Hoshimi Miyabi gains 1 point of Fallen Frost when the final move of the 5th hit of Basic Attack: Kazahana hits an enemy. Upon entering the battlefield, Hoshimi Miyabi immediately obtains 6 points of Fallen Frost and her CRIT Rate increases by 15%.
M3 Martial Discipline: Basic Attack, Dodge, Assist, Special Attack, and Chain Attack Lv. +2
M4 Rupture: Frostburn – Break DMG increases by 30%. Upon triggering Frostburn – Break, Hoshimi Miyabi generates 250 more Decibels.
M5 Anniversary: Basic Attack, Dodge, Assist, Special Attack, and Chain Attack Lv. +2
M6 Prodigious Talent: During Shimotsuki Stance, Hoshimi Miyabi obtains Polar, which increases Basic Attack: Shimotsuki DMG by 30%. After obtaining Polar, Hoshimi Miyabi will automatically draw her blade and unleash powerful slashes based on the current charge level upon consuming Fallen Frost. Before Fallen Frost is completely depleted, the draw and slashes will not interrupt charging under Shimotsuki Stance. Each occurrence of Shimotsuki Stance can perform up to 3 draws and slashes.

ZZZ Miyabi Mindscape Value

Overall, all of Miyabi’s Mindscapes provide solid value, but I would advise pulling for her signature W-Engine first. Secondly, while the Mindscapes all provide solid damage increases, the effects generally push her toward a more hyper carry playstyle. This can be good for longevity, as we don’t know if Disorder teams will continue to be top meta teams, but it’s interesting to see.

  • M1: Medium Value
    • Grants a solid damage buff and also allows Miyabi to remove the Frostburn effect by herself, improving hyper carry/non-disorder setups. However, still recommended to play Disorder team.
  • M2: Medium Value
    • Once again, Miyabi’s M2 looks to enhance the hyper carry playstyle, giving her more ways to generate Fallen Frost without relying on a Disorder teammate. The Crit Rate buff also reduces the Disc requirements to hit 80% Crit Rate, leaving more room for ATK% and Crit DMG. Lastly, starting with 6 points of Fallen Frost is also big for speedrun purposes, but not impactful in longer fights.
  •  M4: Low Value
    • The extra damage on Frostburn is good, but not a major buff considering the investment of 4 Mindscapes. The Decibels are also good, and can result in more damage/Fallen Frost stacks, once again improving non-disorder teams.
  • M6: High Value
    • As usual, M6 provides a big damage increase, but Miyabi’s M6 also unlocks a new part of her kit. With this, Miyabi will deal more instances of damage while she is charging and consuming Fallen Frost. With M6 and all the previous Mindscapes combined, Miyabi will start the fight with a massive amount of burst damage and likely decimate most content in the game.

ZZZ Miyabi Best W-Engines

Hailstorm Shrine

zzz_Hailstorm_Shrine

Base ATK: 743 | Crit Rate: 24%
CRIT DMG increases by 50/57/65/72/80%. When using an EX Special Attack or when any squad member applies an Attribute Anomaly to an enemy, the equipper’s Ice DMG increases by 20/23/26/29/32%, stacking up to 2 times and lasting 15s. The duration of each stack is calculated separately.

As is often the case, Miyabi’s signature W-Engine performs the best and synergizes perfectly with her kit. There are no other Anomaly W-Engines that have Crit Rate as the main stat, so this is already a huge bonus for her kit.

Furthermore, the Engine gives a massive amount of Crit DMG and Ice DMG%. Since Miyabi is such a specialized unit, other W-Engine options unfortunately don’t compete very well compared to her signature.

Steel Cushion / Deep Sea Visitor

Steel_Cushion

Another option you have for a W-Engine is using an Attack Engine  that gives Crit Rate as the main stat. While you won’t get any passive effect from the Engine, getting 24% Crit Rate (from an S-Rank Engine) is a big way to get closer to 80% Crit Rate.

You can certainly reach 80% Crit Rate on Miyabi without a Crit Rate Main Stat, but it may not be easy.

Let’s say you have:

  • Crit Rate Disc 4 (24%)
  • Woodpecker 2 (8%)
  • Branch & Blade Song (12%)

You would need an additional 36% Crit Rate to hit 80%. This is equivalent to 15 Crit Rate substats, which would be 3 substats on your other 5 Discs. This is certainly achievable, but can be difficult if you’re just starting out. If you happened to pull a Steel Cushion from the Standard Banner, it can be a good option. Or if you pulled for Ellen’s Signature, this can also be good as well.

Once your substats get better, the need for a Crit Rate Main Stat goes down, but it will make building Miyabi much more comfortable. (and you get to put more substats into ATK% and Crit DMG)

Rainforest Gourmet / Electro Lip Gloss

Electro_Lip_Gloss

Lastly, if you don’t have the above options, Rainforest Gourmet/Electro Lip Gloss can be decent alternatives. Rainforest will grant a short Combat ATK% buff when expending Energy, and Miyabi’s two part EX Special Attack can be used to maximize this buff. Electro Lip Gloss is also solid, granting DMG% and ATK% against enemies with Anomaly effects on them.

While not amazing, these W-Engines should perform decently well.

ZZZ Miyabi Drive Discs

Branch & Blade Song

branch-and-blade-song

  • (2): CRIT DMG +16%.
  • (4): When Anomaly Mastery exceeds or equals 115 points, the equipper’s CRIT damage increases by 30%. When any squad member applies Freeze or triggers the Shatter effect on an enemy, the equipper’s CRIT Rate increases by 12%, lasting 15s.

Version 1.4 is also releasing a new Drive Disc set, and the effect is tailor-made for Miyabi. At full output, the set gives a whopping 70% worth of Crit stats. (Crit Rate being 2% and Crit DMG being 1%).

It’s slightly awkward that you get the Crit Rate buff after applying Freeze/Shatter, but 15s should be long enough of a buff that you can swap back into Miyabi (after triggering Disorder from another Agent) and make use of the buff.

The 12% Crit Rate passive greatly reduces the build requirements for Miyabi, but going past 80% is not a bad idea either. If you have her Signature, Woodpecker (2), Branch, and Disc 4, you’ll end up with 68% Crit Rate. Getting to 100% Crit Rate (while buffed), is extremely doable and would only require 13.33 Crit Rate substats. If you have 13, you’ll be at 99% buffed, and 14 substats will get you all the way to 100%.

Lastly, Woodpecker 2 is important simply for the 8% Crit Rate it grants.

ZZZ Miyabi Drive Disc Stats

As mentioned above, Crit Rate is Miyabi’s most important stat as it will affect her Frost Buildup Rate. After that, you want to scale her Frostburn damage with things like Ice DMG% and ATK%. PEN Ratio is also an option, especially if you use Rina.

ZZZ Miyabi Teams

When it comes to Miyabi teams, it’s a fairly simple process. You can pair her with just about any Anomaly Agent to trigger Disorder and clear Frostburn. From there, you want to activate her Additional Ability either through a Support Agent or someone on Section 6.

Miyabi Yanagi Disorder

zzz miyabi yanagi disorder

This first team is the most flexible since Yanagi and Miyabi both satisfy each other’s Additional Ability. From there, you can flex into a variety of 3rd Agent options depending on who you have/want to use.

Caesar is the default go to as she simply provides the most offensive/defensive buffs currently in the game, but other options will do just fine.

Miyabi Burnice Disorder

zzz miyabi burnice disorder

When it comes to Burnice, things are a bit different. Since Burnice doesn’t satisfy Miyabi’s AA, you’ll want to run a Support in the third slot. For this team, Lucy is your best bet as she will activate all of the AAs on the team.

Soukaku/Rina will also work, but you’ll miss out on a few Additional Ability passives.

Miyabi F2P Disorder

zzz miyabi piper disorder

If you don’t have Burnice, Piper is also a serviceable option. Her main role will be to quickly trigger Disorder so you can swap back to Miyabi. Piper is no slouch when it comes to applying Anomaly quickly, but there is more room for vertical investment if you use Burnice or Yanagi.

Miyabi Hyper Carry

zzz miyabi lighter lucy

zzz miyabi caesar lucy

Lastly, let’s cover some hyper carry options. For players without Mindscapes, Disorder will likely be your preferred team setup. However, if you have M2, M4, or even M6, hyper carry Miyabi becomes more enticing, and you get to really juice up Miyabi for a huge amount of damage burst.

Lighter and Caesar are my picks for the best third options along with Lucy to round out the team. With both of these teams, you’ll also be able to stun enemies frequently, which will allow Miyabi to deal huge amounts of damage during the Stun window.
