Hoyoverse recently revealed two new characters coming to ZZZ during their trailer for “The Game Awards.” These two characters will likely come with the Version 1.5 update, releasing in January.
Evelyn and Astra Yao are the two characters coming in Version 1.5, and they also introduce a new faction, Stars of Lyra. Astra Yao is a famous singer in the world of New Eridu, and Evelyn is her manager and bodyguard.
Overall, we don’t have too much to speculate for Evelyn outside of her specialty and attribute. Even still, these two things give us some room to work with when thinking of potential teams or builds.
Evelyn marks the first Limited Attack Agent since Version 1.0, which included both Ellen and Zhu Yuan. While those two are certainly still strong, the plethora of Anomaly Agents have overshadowed them for quite some time.
Many players are expecting Evelyn to breathe some life back into the Attack archetype.
Evelyn will likely release with Version 1.5 which releases on January 22nd, 2025. However, we don’t know if Evelyn will be on the first half or second half of the version.

We don’t really know anything about Evelyn’s kit, so we can’t give perfect recommendations for a build. Her signature engine will be good, but other options will depend on her exact kit and what she scales best with. Marcato Desire is a free event Engine from Version 1.4, which may indicate that it works well with Evelyn.
The same goes for Drive Discs, Main Stats, and Substats. However, Drive Discs can potentially be farmed ahead of time as there aren’t too many options to choose from.

As with most Limited Agents, Evelyn’s Signature will likely perform the best. It’s possible that her Engine doesn’t perform well above other options, but it’s a safe expectation to assume her Signature will result in approximately 30% more damage compared to F2P options.
This is generally the case with DPS Agents, but this is not always the case. For example, Zhu Yuan’s Signature W-Engine doesn’t perform significantly better compared to options like Brimstone or Starlight Engine.

When an EX Special Attack or Chain Attack hits an enemy, the equipper’s ATK increases by 9.6% for 8s. While the target is under an Attribute Anomaly, this effect is increased by an additional 9.6%.
Marcato Desire is a free event W-Engine available in Version 1.4. It’s interesting since it’s an Attack Engine and is releasing right before Evelyn. As such, it’s possible we can assume that this Engine will be a good F2P option for Evelyn.
This Engine can also be used on other Attack Agents like Ellen/Zhu Yuan/Soldier 11, but the timing suggests it will be good on Evelyn as well. Once we learn more about her kit, we’ll be able to see whether this Engine performs better than other options like Brimstone/Starlight Engine.
When it comes to Attack Agent Discs, there aren’t too many options outside the initial sets released in Version 1.0. Inferno Metal and Woodpecker Electro are the two sets that immediately stick out.
While Hormone Punk and Puffer Electro are possibilities, the buffs from Inferno Metal/Woodpecker Electro are simply stronger unless Evelyn has a very specific kit. If you already have a good Inferno/Woodpecker set farmed up, it likely will perform well on Evelyn as well.
If we assume that Evelyn is a traditional Attack DPS Agent, we can assume that the usual stats will be good. It’s unlikely that she will scale well with PEN, but it is certainly possible. I make this assumption as Rina is often seen used with Anomaly Agents, so having her be used again for Evelyn seems like too much.
When it comes to Crit Rate vs Crit DMG, we’ll need to see the details of her kit before recommending one over the other for Partition IV.

When it comes to teams, most players are expecting Lighter to be an amazing teammate. Lighter’s kit provides an immense amount of offensive utility. At Mindscape 0 + Signature 1, Lighter will provide up to 75% Fire DMG, 15% Fire RES Shred, and 30% Crit DMG. On top of that, he can extend the duration of the Stun Window by 3 seconds, making him an absolute powerhouse stunner.
However, Lighter didn’t make it into the top meta teams due to lacking a strong team to utilize his buffs. With Evelyn, things may change and this duo may output some of the highest damage in the game. (Speculation)
When it comes to a third teammate, many options are good. Lucy and Caesar will provide ATK buffs, while Burnice will be a secondary DPS who can deal damage off-field while also providing more Fire Anomaly Buildup for Inferno Metal.
Astra Yao will surely also pair well with Evelyn as a Support Agent. While we don’t know her exact kit, it’s almost a guarantee that the two will synergize together since they’re releasing in the same Version and are from the same Faction.
If you don’t have Lighter, you can still use other options like Lucy + Caesar, Lucy + Burnice, Koleda + Lucy, etc. It’s uncertain what will work best since we don’t know the exact details of Evelyn’s kit.
This wraps up our initial impression on Evelyn. Evelyn marks the return to Attack Agents in ZZZ, an archetype that has long been underserved for quite some time now. While we don’t know the exact ceiling of Evelyn’s damage, we can assume she will perform at or above the level of the Version 1.0 Attack Agents: Ellen & Zhu Yuan.
Evelyn will likely also be a big upgrade for anyone who has Lighter, as she may turn out to be the ideal teammate for him.
