8 Tips and Tricks to Improve in Warcraft Rumble

In this guide, we’ll be going over 8 Warcraft Rumble tips and tricks to improve your skills in both PvP and PvE.

Progression in Warcraft Rumble is slow. In PvE, you can make the most out of the mini levels you have with improving at the game.

Meanwhile in PvP levels, are capped and skills are a major factor in winning and losing to get the great rewards PvP has to offer.

Not only do most of these tips apply to both PvP and PvE, but most apply to both new and experienced players.

Tip #1: Fight for Gold Chests and Mines

Controlling the gold sources resources is the best way to snowball a game in your favor. Even if you spend more gold acquiring a chest than what it yields it is typically worth it.

A 3 gold S.A.F.E. Pilot is worth a 2 gold chest as it denies your opponent 2 gold, which is net 4 gold. Not only does acquiring the chest or mine give gold, but you also have a unit on the board which has inherent value.

Mid Gold Fight

Only ground units can secure chests but utilize air units to gain map control around and above chests to secure them. An advanced means of getting an advantage on your opponent for gold sources is to track their timers. Chests spawn 40 seconds after they were collected. Use the match timer to figure out when the chests will spawn next. You can even preemptively drop a S.A.F.E. Pilot or other unbound unit to hit the chest as it is spawning in.

Tip #2: Tower Health is a Resource

Tower health is how you win and lose games, but sometimes it is worth prioritizing gold or creating a counter-push in exchange for tower health. Unless your tower is almost destroyed or the game is about to end it is worth it to eat a little damage to save gold. There is little need to sacrifice a unit and its gold value to save a small percentage of your tower’s health.

Tower Health

Preventing any small amount of tower damage will get you behind on gold and ultimately lead to a loss. A middle ground of this is to use the tower to tank damage while a glass cannon is behind it and use that unit to counter-push after dealing with the threat.

Tip #3: Prioritize using a Troop over a Spell

If a troop and spell kill the same enemies, use the troop. This is because the troop can counter-push while a spell cannot.

If a group of low-health units is storming your tower opt for a Pyromancer over a Blizzard. These cost the same, but the Pyromancer will continue on the field. This gives it extra value over dealing with the threat and forces the opponent to respond.

Tip #4: Tank and Spank!

This applies to any game with tanks in it. Place the tank unit in front of a fragile, high-damage dealing unit. There is more nuance to this than having the tank in front and the glass cannon in the back. The main thing to take from this tip is to have the tank take aggro instead of the glass cannon. Quilboar is an example of a mini where this can be taken to an advanced level.

Tank and Spank

The picture below shows a wave of Murloc Tidehunters that are going to be taken out by the splash damage of Cairne. A Quillboar is placed behind Cairne, tanking and redirecting his splash attack so the Tidehunters can take Cairne out and carry on.

Tip#5: Learn Interactions Between Minis

Knowledge is power. Knowing how your minis interact against others is imperative for using gold efficiently. Learning which units are killed by spells is a good starting spot for this. For example, if you use Chain Lightning, learn which units die to the spell.

After that move into learning how units interact in a 1v1. If you run Gryphon Rider learn how it trades with other units. If the opponent has Harpies you should learn who wins in a 1v1. This way you can properly defend when the opposing unit is on the board. Learning these interactions for your favorite minis helps you pick the perfect mini for almost any situation.

Tip #6: Track your Opponent’s Mini Rotation

Knowing what is in your opponent’s hand gives you a massive advantage. You can do this by tracking their rotation. Start learning this skill by tracking high-priority counters. There are 8 minis in a deck due to the presence of Kobold and 4 minis in hand at a time.

kobold

This means after a mini is played it will be back in hand after 4 other minis are played. After the high-priority mini is played, count the next 4 and then you know it is back in your opponent’s hand. Once you get comfortable with tracking one mini, increase this to 2 high-priority minis, and so on.

Tip #7: Track your Opponent’s Gold

Just like knowing your opponent’s minis in hand, knowing how much gold they have gives you an advantage. If you are up on gold you can get more aggressive and punish them. If you are down on gold it’s best to play safer. To track an opponent’s gold compare it to your own rather than the exact amount they have. Both players regenerate gold at the same rate, you just have to account for gaining chests, mining gold, and playing units.

gold count

If you both play your first mini and your is 5 gold and there’s is 4 gold you know you are down 1 gold. If you then play a 3 gold unit and gain a mid-chest while they drop another 4 gold unit you’d then be up 2 gold. To know the exact amount the opponent is at you subtract 2 from your current gold count.

Tip #8: Save Counters for Priority Units

The first step of this is to identify which mini the opponent has that can potentially give you a hard time. Next, identify the most optimal way you can deal with this unit. For example, if the opponent has a Darkspear Troll that is wrecking your flying units, you should save your S.A.F.E. Pilot to immediately kill it.

Whelp Counter

This exchange is in your favor as a S.A.F.E. Pilot kills Darkspear Troll and she is still on the board. But it also takes away their best defensive option against you. In this example avoid using S.A.F.E. Pilot for other purposes unless dire as this opens up the opportunity for your opponent to get value from Darkspear Troll.
