How to Play Conqueror — TFT Set 13: Into the Arcane

Welcome to our trait guide, where we’ll be covering the X trait in the new TFT Set 13: Into the Arcane. In this guide, we’ll explain how X works, cover the different champions, provide notable Augment choices, and cover some potential team comps.

Explore all of the new Set 13 traits here!

Conqueror is one of the largest vertical traits in Set 13 which means you can play every Conqueror champion on the same board and have a strong team. It is also a fun trait as it gives the player loot throughout the game! I expect this one to be one of the favorite traits for a lot of players along with Chem-Baron due to the extra resources it gives. The Conquerors are also made up of mostly Noxus champions that are favorites such as Draven, Swain, and the addition of Ambessa.

How TFT Conqueror Works

Conqueror Trait Bonus

tft set 13 conqueror

Champions: Darius 1g / Draven 1g / Rell 2g / Swain 3g / Ambessa 4g / Mordekaiser 5g

Conquerors’ takedowns grant stacks of Conquest. After gaining enough Conquest, open War Chests full of loot! Conquerors gain Attack Damage and Ability Power, increased by 3% for each War Chest opened.

  • (2) 18% AD & AP; 1x Conquest
  • (4) 27% AD & AP; 3x Conquest
  • (6) 42% AD & AP; 6x Conquest
  • (9) 100% AD & AP; 20x Conquest

Conqueror Synergy

Conqueror champions have several opportunities to expand their trait web:

  • Darius (1G) – Watcher
  • Draven (1G) – Pit Fighter
  • Rell (2G) – Sentinel + Visionary
  • Swain (3G) – Form Swapper + Sorcerer
  • Ambessa (4G) – Emissary + Quickstriker
  • Mordekaiser (5G) – Dominator

The Conqueror Trait

The Conqueror trait has 6 champions and playing all of them on the board is rewarding as you get 6x Conquest along with load of AP and AD. In a dream scenario – you can even hit 9 Conqueror and essentially win the game outright. However, this requires 3 spatulas which is exceptionally rare in TFT although possible!

Conquerors benefit from killing opponents, so make sure if you are looking to play this trait that you have a strong early game opener with at least 2 Conquerer units and are able to build your team from there!

TFT Conqueror Champions

Darius (1G) – Conqueror + Watcher

tft set 13 darius

Darius spins dealing (AD) physical damage to adjacent enemies and healing (AP) and applying 2 (AD) physical damage bleed on a target over 4 seconds.

Darius benefits from AP and AD which means items such as Titan’s Resolve will be a solid option on him and he will likely carry Ambessa’s items in the early game.

Draven (1G) – Conqueror + Pit Fighter

tft set 13 draven

[Link to Champion Page]

Draven has a passive where if he has an empowered axe in hand it replaces his next attack dealing additional (AD) physical damage. Empowered axes return of Draven after hitting an emmy. His active makes him spin an empowered axe. This allows him to be a strong carry in the early game and able to hold ranged AD items. However, with most of the Conqueror champions being melee – you likely will have to go outside of the Conqueror trait to hold his items if you do opt to carry him in the early game.

Rell (2G) – Conqueror + Sentinel + Visionary

tft set 13 rell

[Link to Champion Page]

Rell gains an (AP) shield for 4 seconds. She then lances enemies in a line for (AP) magic damage and steals Armor and Magic Resistance from enemies hit. Her utility along with being a 3 trait unit including the very useful Sentinel trait will make her a premium unit in the set. This 2 cost unit is one that will be seen on multiple late game boards as she reduces an opponent’s resistances while having solid traits and has an ability that helps her have additional tankiness.

Swain (3G) – Conqueror + Form Swapper + Sorcerer

tft set 13 swain

[Link to Champion Page]

Swain is another unit who has 3 traits. His ability heals him and he ascends for 6 seconds. While ascended, he heals an deals (AP) magic damage to adjacent enemies every second. On takedown, the ascensions’s duration is extended to 2 seconds.

Swain works very similarly to his ult on the rift. In TFT, he is an AP tank in the front line that is able to help delay opponents while dishing out some additional damage.

Ambessa (4G) – Conqueror + Emissary + Quickstriker

tft set 13 ambessa

[Link to Champion Page]

Ambessa is the third 3 trait unit of Conquerors. She has an unique ability as switches between two stances on cast. Chains she gains +1 range where attacks deal (AD) physical damage. On cast, she dashes to a target and strikes in a half-circle dealing (AD) physical damage to enemies hit. Her other ability, fists, she gains Omnivamp (AP) and attacks twice as fast. On cast, she briefly stuns a target before slamming them into the ground dealing (AD) physical damage and dashes away.

As mentioned earlier she has AD and AP scaling along with being a melee carry which will make Titan’s Resolve a premium item on her.

Mordekaiser (5G) – Conqueror + Dominator

tft set 13 mordekaiser

[Link to Champion Page]

Mordekaiser is the 5 AP cost carry of the Conquerors. His ability allow shim to gain durability and summon a massive claw which deals (AP) magic damage to the most enemies in a line. The 4 closest enemies take additional damage and are pulled towards Mordekaiser.

For the next 10 seconds, he gains omnivamp, +1 attack range, and replaces every attack with a slam that deals (AP) magic damage to a target and (AP) magic damage to all other enemies within 2 hexes.
As an AP melee fighter Mordekaiser can be benefits from a variety of AP and even tank items. On top of this, since he hits multiple enemies with his ult he also becomes a solid Morello holder for the Conqueror comp.

Best TFT Conqueror Augments

In general, Augments like Crest and Crown will always be good, but there are definitely more notable ones to explore and discover. As we make our way to the PBE, we’ll be sure to test a variety of combinations and update this article with what we find.

TFT Conqueror Team Comps

The set has yet to even come out on PBE yet, and unfortunately, our team was unable to playtest the Set this time around. While we can’t recommend team comps at the moment, we’ll be sure to come back and update this article once we have a good feel for things.

Thanks for Reading! If you want to try and come up with your own team comps for Set 13, check out our Team Builder. For a full overview on the new set, check out our TFT Set 13 Reveal Page.
