Huohuo: Guide, Skills, Builds, Teams & More

Huohuo is an Energy-based healer with excellent cleansing capability. Her powerful Ultimate functions as a teamwide Energy battery, making her one of the go-to sustain options not only for Energy-based damage dealers but also for many Energy-hungry support units. With Patch 4.2, Huohuo receives a Novaflare that modestly improves her sustaining capacity and ease of use, helping her stay relevant as more high-Energy units continue to be released.

HSR Huohuo Release Date

After Patch 4.2, Huohuo is available to be purchased from the shop with Golden Companion Spirit.

Huohuo HSR Kit Overview (Trace Level 10)

Huohuo’s kit and main selling points can essentially be split into two major parts: her Ultimate and her Talent.

Her Ultimate — Tail: Spiritual Domination — restores all allies’ Energy by 20% of their maximum Energy cap and increases their Attack by 40%. Since this is based on each unit’s maximum Energy cap, units with exceptionally high Energy costs, such as Evanescia, Saber, or The Herta, will gain significantly more Energy than lower-cost units. As of now, Huohuo is the only unit with a teamwide Energy Regeneration effect — and large Energy injections are intentionally rare, as many powerful units have a significant portion of their power locked behind their Ultimate.

The main drawback of this Ultimate is its very high Energy cost of 140, which limits how frequently Huohuo can use it. After her Novaflare update, this Ultimate also increases the Attack of allies with 160 or more maximum Energy by an additional 24%, courtesy of her second major trace.

Huohuo’s Skill is a Blast Heal that heals a primary target, dispels 1 debuff from them, and also heals the two adjacent units. The Skill itself is not particularly powerful on its own — even after the Novaflare update increases its multiplier — but rather serves as the trigger for her Talent: Possession: Ethereal Metaflow. After using her Skill, Huohuo gains a special effect called Divine Provision that lasts for 3 turns. While this status is active, whenever an ally takes an action or uses their Ultimate, they heal and cleanse themselves of a debuff.

The cleanse is capped at 6 triggers during Divine Provision’s duration, while the healing is only limited by the number of actions and Ultimates the team can squeeze in during that window. Additionally, any ally at 50% HP or below receives healing whenever Divine Provision triggers, serving as emergency healing.

Huohuo’s cleansing capacity is also highly potent thanks to Divine Provision. It is particularly effective against Crowd Control effects, as the cleanse triggers before the affected character’s turn — making it especially strong against bosses that frequently spam disabling effects. Before her Novaflare update, Huohuo had to refresh Divine Provision by using her Skill once every other turn, but after the upgrade, she only needs to do so once every 2 turns. That said, continuously using her Skill in teams that generate excess Skill Points still has considerable merit, providing additional Energy and healing in the process.

Huohuo’s traces are all quite useful. Her first trace activates Divine Provision for 2 turns at the start of battle, eliminating the need to use her Skill immediately. More importantly, it also grants her 30 Energy at the start of battle, allowing her to access her first Ultimate very quickly — which can be crucial for teammates like Yao Guang or Robin to kickstart their gameplay loops.

Beyond the extra Attack boost, her second trace also provides a 35% increased chance to resist Crowd Control, which is quite handy since she needs to remain available to emergency-cleanse allies with her Skill at all times. Her third trace grants her 1 Energy every time Divine Provision’s healing effect triggers, further improving her access to her Ultimate.

Huohuo’s Technique releases Tail — the Heliobus that possesses her — to terrorize a small area around her. All enemies within this area become Terrorstruck and flee from Huohuo. The more practical effect of this Technique is a small Attack debuff applied to all Terrorstruck enemies upon entering battle.

Huohuo HSR Core Skills

Basic Attack – Stormcaller: Deals Wind Damage equal to 50% of Huohuo’s Max HP to a target enemy.

Skill - Talisman Protection

Skill – Talisman: Protection: Dispels 1 debuff(s) from one designated ally and immediately restores this ally’s HP by an amount equal to 24% of Huohuo’s Max HP plus 640. At the same time, restores HP for allies that are adjacent to this target ally by an amount equal to 19.2% of Huohuo’s Max HP plus 512.

Ultimate – Tail: Spiritual Domination: Regenerates Energy for all teammates (excluding this unit) by an amount equal to 20% of their respective Max Energy. At the same time, increases their ATK by 40% for 2 turn(s).

Talent - Possession Ethereal Metaflow

Talent – Possession: Ethereal Metaflow: After using her Skill or Ultimate, Huohuo gains “Divine Provision,” lasting for 3 turn(s). This duration decreases by 1 turn at the start of Huohuo’s every turn. When Huohuo has “Divine Provision” at the start of an ally target’s turn or when they use their Ultimate, restores HP for that ally target and the ally target with the lowest HP percentage by an amount equal to 4.5% of Huohuo’s Max HP plus 120. Then, restores HP for every ally with a current HP percentage at or below 50% by an amount equal to 4.5% of Huohuo’s Max HP plus 120.

When “Divine Provision” is triggered to heal an ally target, dispels 1 debuff(s) from that target. This effect can be triggered 6 time(s). Gaining “Divine Provision” again resets the effect’s trigger count.

Technique - Fiend Impeachment of Evil

Technique – Fiend: Impeachment of Evil: Huohuo terrorizes surrounding enemies, inflicting “Horror-Struck” on them. Enemies in “Horror-Struck” will flee away from Huohuo for 10 second(s). When entering combat with enemies in “Horror-Struck,” there is a 100% base chance of reducing every single enemy’s ATK by 25% for 2 turn(s).

Huohuo HSR Traces

Fearful to Act: When battle starts, Huohuo gains 30 Energy and “Divine Provision,” lasting for 2 turn(s).

The Cursed One HSR

The Cursed One: Increases the chance to resist Crowd Control debuffs by 35%. When using Ultimate, if an ally target’s Max Energy is 160 or higher, additionally increases their ATK by 24%.

Stress Reaction to Horror HSR

Stress Reaction to Horror: When her Talent is triggered to heal allies, Huohuo regenerates 1 Energy.

Huohuo HSR Eidolons

  1. Anchored to Vessel, Specters Nestled: The duration of “Divine Provision” produced by the Talent is extended by 1 turn(s). When Huohuo possesses “Divine Provision,” her Outgoing Healing increases by 20%, all allies’ SPD increases by 12%.
  2. Sealed in Tail, Wraith Subdued: If Huohuo possesses “Divine Provision” when an ally target is struck by a killing blow, the ally will not be knocked down and their HP will immediately be restored by an amount equal to 50% of their Max HP. This reduces the duration of “Divine Provision” by 1 turn. This effect can only be triggered 2 time per battle.
  3. Cursed by Fate, Moths to Flame: Ultimate Lv. +2, up to a maximum of Lv. 15. Talent Lv. +2, up to a maximum of Lv. 15.
  4. Tied in Life, Bound to Strife: When healing a target ally via Skill or Talent, the less HP the target ally currently has, the higher the amount of healing they will receive. The maximum increase in healing provided by Huohuo is 80%.
  5. Mandated by Edict, Evils Evicted: Skill Lv. +2, up to a maximum of Lv. 15. Basic Attack Lv. +1, up to a maximum of Lv. 10.
  6. Woven Together, Cohere Forever: When healing a target ally, increases the target ally’s Damage dealt by 50% for 2 turns.

Eidolon Priority

Since Huohuo is available from the Golden Companion Spirit shop, players can purchase her Eidolons with their spare currency.

For vertical investment, her E1 is the best option, especially since her Signature Light Cone is not essential to her function. This Eidolon further extends Divine Provision’s duration, increases her outgoing healing by 20% — allowing Huohuo to conserve more Skill Points when needed — and grants a highly valuable 12% teamwide Speed boost.

Her remaining Eidolons are fairly mediocre and not worth actively chasing. Her E2 provides up to 2 revives per battle for teammates while Divine Provision is active, which can help alleviate some sustaining pressure in difficult content. Her E4 further increases her healing capacity, particularly when targets are at low HP. Finally, her E6 grants all allies a 50% damage boost for 2 turns whenever she provides healing.

  • Eidolon 1: Very High
  • Eidolon 2: Low
  • Eidolon 4: Very Low
  • Eidolon 6: Medium

Premium Options

Honkai Star Rail Night of Fright

Night of Fright: Increases the wearer’s Energy Regeneration Rate by 12% / 14% / 16% / 18% / 20%. When any ally uses their Ultimate, the wearer restores HP for the ally currently with the lowest HP percentage by an amount equal to 10% / 11% / 12% / 13% / 14% of the healed ally’s Max HP. When the wearer provides healing for an ally, it increases the healed ally’s Attack by 2.4% / 2.8% / 3.2% / 3.6% / 4%. This effect can stack up to 5 times and lasts for 2 turns.

Despite being Huohuo’s Signature Light Cone, Night of Fright is less impactful than most other characters’ Signature Light Cones. While it makes her sustaining more comfortable and comes with a useful Energy Regeneration Rate boost, its teamwide offensive support is noticeably weaker than her other options, which is precisely what sets Huohuo apart from other sustainers. It remains a strong choice, but unlike most Signature Light Cones, it is not a clear-cut best-in-slot above all alternatives.

Honkai Star Rail Post-Op Conversation

Post-Op Conversation: Increases the wearer’s Energy Regeneration Rate by 8% and increases Outgoing Healing when they use their Ultimate by 12%

Post-Op Conversation is a highly usable option that players can obtain naturally through pulling. It is one of the rare Light Cones that offers a significant Energy Regeneration Rate boost, helping Huohuo access her Ultimate more frequently.

Honkai Star Rail Shared Feeling

Shared Feeling: Increases the wearer’s Outgoing Healing by 10%. When using Skill, regenerates 2 Energy for all allies.

Shared Feeling is one of the two best teamwide support Light Cones for Huohuo. It increases her healing capacity while also granting an Energy boost to all allies whenever she uses her Skill. Generally, Huohuo only uses her Skill when Divine Provision is about to expire or when an ally needs emergency healing or cleansing, so this effect may not always be fully utilized.

However, in certain teams — such as those built around Sparkle or Sunday — Huohuo can afford to use her Skill far more frequently, making this effect considerably more pronounced.

F2P Options

Honkai Star Rail Quid Pro Quo

Quid Pro Quo: At the start of the wearer’s turn, regenerates 8 Energy for a randomly chosen ally (excluding the wearer) whose current Energy is lower than 50%.

Quid Pro Quo is widely considered one of the strongest utility Light Cones for Abundance characters, and it is completely free for most players. Huohuo’s primary build aims for high Speed to maximize the effect of this Light Cone, further cementing her role as an Energy battery for the team.

HSR Huohuo Main Stats

  • Body: HP %/ Healing %
  • Feet: Speed
  • Orb: HP%
  • Rope: Energy Regeneration Rope %

Huohuo’s healing scales off two stats — HP% and Healing Boost% — making these the most logical choices for her Body piece and Planar Sphere respectively.

For Boots, Huohuo wants to be as fast as possible to improve her Skill Point economy and take full advantage of Light Cones like Quid Pro Quo. Additionally, refreshing Divine Provision more frequently resets the cap on her cleanse effect, which is highly valuable against enemies that spam debuffs. Speed Boots are therefore the ideal choice.

For the Link Rope, Energy Regeneration Rate is non-negotiable. Huohuo’s primary value comes from her Ultimate, and gaining faster and more frequent access to it is essential to maximizing her contribution to the team.

Speed Tuning:

When it comes to Speed tuning, Huohuo is straightforward — she simply wants to be as fast as possible. The easiest breakpoint to aim for is 134 Speed, which allows her to act twice in Cycle 0. The next major breakpoint is 200 Speed, which lets her act twice every cycle after Cycle 0.

While this is normally extremely difficult to reach on her own, it can be achieved by combining multiple Speed-boosting effects with Action Advance effects, such as the Dance! Dance! Dance! Light Cone or the Eagle of Twilight Line set.

Since the optimal approach varies depending on each account’s resources — and given that her HP and Effect Resistance scaling are not particularly influential — the general rule of thumb is simply to stack as much Speed on her as possible.

HSR Huohuo Sub Stats

  • Speed
  • HP%
  • Effect Res %

Beyond Speed and HP%, which directly affect her performance, Effect Resistance can be a clutch stat in high-difficulty content when combined with her Crowd Control resistance trace. Huohuo generally does not want to be inflicted with Crowd Control, as she is the team’s primary source of cleansing and healing — being unavailable during an enemy’s burst window can easily spell the end of a run.

HSR Huohuo Relics

Option A

Warrior Goddess of Sun and Thunder

Warrior Goddess of Sun and Thunder

  • 2-Pc: Increases SPD by 6%.
  • 4-Pc: When the wearer or their memosprite provides healing to ally targets other than themselves, the wearer gains “Gentle Rain,” which lasts for 2 turn(s) and can only trigger once per turn. While the wearer has “Gentle Rain,” SPD increases by 6% and all allies’ CRIT DMG increases by 15%. This effect cannot stack.

This set is ideal for any healer. It provides a strong Speed boost to help reach notable breakpoints, while also enhancing their team support through a teamwide Crit Damage boost.

Option B

Messenger Traversing Hackerspace

Messenger Traversing Hackerspace

  • 2-Pc: Increases SPD by 6%.
  • 4-Pc: When the wearer uses their Ultimate on an ally, SPD for all allies increases by 12% for 1 turn. This effect cannot be stacked.

Huohuo can trigger Messenger Traversing Hackerspace’s effect whenever she uses her Ultimate. The impact of this varies depending on her teammates and their setup, but when utilized well, it can help conserve the team’s Action Value.

Option C

Eagle of Twilight Line

Eagle of Twilight Line

  • 2-Pc: Increases Wind Damage by 10%.
  • 4-Pc: After the wearer uses their Ultimate, their action is Advanced Forward by 25%.

Eagle of Twilight Line is one of the ways to increase Huohuo’s effective Speed, but like any Speed tuning tool, its value is highly dependent on other factors. Additionally, the other set available in the same Domain is extremely mediocre, so farming here is only recommended for players with a surplus of Stamina to spare.

HSR Huohuo Planar Sets

Option A

Lushaka, the Sunken Seas

Lushaka, the Sunken Seas

  • 2-Pc: Increases the wearer’s Energy Regeneration Rate by 5%. If the wearer is not the first character in the team lineup, then increases the Attack of the first character in the team lineup by 12%.

Lushaka, the Sunken Seas not only provides one of the strongest offensive buffs for allies but is also one of only three Planar sets that grant additional Energy Regeneration Rate.

Option B

Sprightly Vonwacq

Sprightly Vonwacq

  • 2-Pc: Increases the wearer’s Energy Regeneration Rate by 5%. When the wearer’s SPD reaches 120 or higher, the wearer’s action is Advanced Forward by 40% immediately upon entering battle.

Similar to Lushaka, the Sunken Seas, Sprightly Vonwacq grants additional Energy Regeneration Rate — a highly valued stat for Huohuo. Its Action Advance effect can also be quite impactful in squeezing out an extra action for Huohuo within a set amount of Action Value.

Option C

fleet of the ageless

Fleet of the Ageless

  • 2-Pc: Increases the wearer’s Max HP by 12%. When the wearer’s SPD reaches 120 or higher, all allies’ Attack increases by 8%.

Fleet of the Ageless is the only Planar set that provides a Max HP boost, which Huohuo naturally appreciates. The teamwide Attack increase is also valuable — particularly since it applies to the whole team rather than a single ally like Lushaka, and Huohuo is often paired with Robin, an Attack-scaling amplifier.

Option D

Broken Keel

Broken Keel

  • 2-Pc: Increases the wearer’s Effect RES by 10%. When the wearer’s Effect RES is at 30% or higher, all allies’ Critical Damage increases by 10%.

Broken Keel provides a solid amount of Effect Resistance, which can greatly benefit Huohuo against enemies that frequently apply Crowd Control effects, while also offering a decent teamwide support buff.

HSR Huohuo Teammates

Huohuo can serve as a sustain option in most teams post-Novaflare, but she has particular synergy with units that have large maximum Energy caps, allowing them to take full advantage of her teamwide Energy Regeneration.

Main DPS

Evanescia: Evanescia is one of Huohuo’s best teammates — not only because she herself has a very large maximum Energy cap, but also because every unit in Evanescia’s team greatly benefits from the extra Energy, including Yao Guang and Elation Trailblazer.

Evanescia

Energy-Based Damage Dealers: These units all have large Energy caps and scale off Attack, allowing them to take full advantage of everything Huohuo’s kit has to offer.

DoT Team: The DoT archetype scales well with teamwide Attack boosts and greatly appreciates extra Energy to increase their damage instances.

Amplifiers

Robin / Yao Guang: Robin and Yao Guang are pillars of their respective teams, boasting high Energy caps and extraordinarily powerful Ultimates that enable their teammates, making them prime candidates to pair with Huohuo.

Sunday: Sunday is the other limited Energy support, and he is often paired with Huohuo to support high Energy cost hypercarries such as Saber or Aglaea.

HSR Huohuo Pull Value and Conclusion

Sustains are always the lowest pulling priority, as most accounts only need two competent sustain options to cover most content in the game. As a result, sustainers often need to offer more than just their sustaining capability to stand out from the competition.

In that regard, Huohuo makes a highly convincing case despite being a relatively old unit. Most powerful effects in the game are locked behind Ultimates, and Huohuo has a very rare niche of teamwide Energy Regeneration. She also boasts exceptional cleansing capability — a trait that has aged remarkably well as boss gimmicks in endgame content have grown increasingly complex.

Energy has been a pillar of the game since launch, and the number of Energy-reliant units has grown significantly over time — particularly with the Elation archetype introducing multiple Energy-hungry units, further increasing Huohuo’s relevance.

Despite her Novaflare being relatively modest in terms of raw improvement, Huohuo is available from the Golden Companion Shop and is highly recommended for players who lack a strong sustain option capable of supporting multiple team archetypes simultaneously. That said, pulling on her banner is not advised.
