Helldivers 2 Warbond Review: Democratic Detonation

The new premium Helldivers 2 Democratic Detonation warbond has been released and it brings in a variety of new weapons, items, and armor to help defeat Automatons and Terminids in style.

It gives access to explosive weapons that deal area-of-effect damage and have armor penetration capabilities.

Today, we will review the contents of this warbond and analyze their potential use cases and niches where they can be used.

G-123

G-123

The G-123 Thermite grenade is highly effective against all armored targets, including heavy ones. It can potentially kill a Bile Titan with just a couple of grenades stuck near its head, while it takes 2-3 hits into the tower and one-two into the heatsink to kill a Tank.

If it hits the faceplate or heatsink of a Hulk, it’s a guaranteed kill, and if it sticks anywhere on the enemy, it causes decent damage. However, it has zero AOE, and it hits only a single target, although you can destroy bot fabricators and bug nests. To hit fabricator vents, you need to be precise since it has low velocity.

In terms of its purpose, it’s a solid 10/10, and the best anti-elite grenade in the game, capable of killing or heavily damaging almost any existing enemy. However, hitting aerial units might be a problem.

CE-27 Ground Breaker

CE-27 groundbreaker

The CE-27 Ground Breaker is a medium armor that provides the Engineering Kit passive, which reduces recoil by 30% when crouching or prone, adds two more grenades, and increases inventory, making it a basic engineer set passive on a medium armor.CE-07

BR-14 Adjudicator

BR-14 Adjudicator

The BR-14 Adjudicator is a marksman/assault hybrid weapon that doesn’t seem to have any substantial advantages at first glance. It is not effective against Terminids and it’s also likely to perform poorly against bots. For comparison, the JAR-5 deals 500-600 damage to medium bots with headshot killing devastators instantly, while the Adjudicator only deals around 160-200 damage.

Its automatic fire mode is also not useful due to the lower base damage and small ammo capacity. Furthermore, the weapon has a misaligned sight, making the bullet go slightly higher than the crosshair. Overall, it’s not a great weapon. The only good thing about it is its low sound profile, which could be useful for stealth.

Demolition Specialist

CE-07 Demolition Specialist

The CE-07 Demolition Specialist is a type of light armor set that is designed to be a lighter version of the CE-67 Titan. While it provides less armor, it enhances speed and stamina regeneration, and shares an identical passive called Engineering Kit.

The Engineering Kit reduces recoil by 30% when crouching or prone, adds two more grenades, and increases inventory, making it a basic engineer set passive. Overall, the CE-07 armor is more accessible than the CE-67 since it can be purchased with medals, unlike the variant obtainable from the shop rotation. This armor is an excellent choice, especially when paired with thermite grenades.

Expert Extraction Pilot Booster

expert extraction pilot booster

The Expert Extraction Pilot Booster reduces the extraction timer and can be very helpful, especially on difficult missions where the timer forces you to stay in one place while being attacked by the game’s strongest enemies. It’s essential for safely bringing back your super samples.

R-36 Eruptor

R-36 Eruptor

The R-36 Eruptor is a powerful rifle that can deal incredible damage, capable of taking down a Hulk in just three hits to the heatsink. However, due to its slow fire rate and small clip, it’s not ideal for dealing with large groups of enemies that are closing in on you. The weapon also deals explosion damage in a decent radius around it, so it’s important to avoid accidentally hitting yourself with its explosion.

The blast radius is approximately 5 meters, meaning it can easily kill or knock you off your feet if you’re not careful. Despite its limitations, the R-36 Eruptor is still a solid choice as a heavy sniper rifle. Just be sure to bring something for close range combat, since this gun lacks proper crowd control. Although it does have a good amount of stagger, the slow firing rate negates its usefulness in close quarters. Overall, it’s not a bad weapon, just somewhat less convenient than the JAR-5, which trades less damage per shot for greater versatility.

GP-31 Grenade Pistol

GP-31 Grenade Pistol

Are you in search of a new secondary weapon? Do you prefer using grenades over other weapons? If so, then the GP-31 Grenade Pistol is a perfect choice for you. Not only does it provide incredible damage, but it also comes with the option to clear bug nests and fabricators using only your secondary weapon.

Although the ammo capacity is somewhat low, you can consider it like a stack of bonus grenades. So, if you are looking for a secondary weapon with a unique edge, the GP-31 Grenade Pistol is definitely worth considering.

FS-55 Devastator

fs-55 devastator

The FS-55 Devastator is a heavy armor that reduces recoil and offers 50% explosion resistance. Not much to note besides its cool appearance.

CB-9 Exploding Crossbow

CB-9 Explosive Crossbow

The CB-9 Exploding Crossbow is a weapon that functions more like a grenade launcher than a crossbow, and it boasts one of the fastest aiming speeds in the game. However, it has a limited effective range and does relatively low damage unless you can penetrate enemy armor with an initial hit and preferably hit a headshot. If you manage to land a headshot, it can be incredibly powerful, but it’s not very effective against bots due to its low range and inability to deal most of its damage through armor.

On the other hand, it performs well against bugs as a wave-clearing weapon because of its fast reload and easy aiming at close range. However, like the R-36 Eruptor, it has the issue of potentially killing its user by splash damage, and unlike the Eruptor, surprisingly it cannot close bug nests and fabricators despite the fact that it has explosive AOE, likely due to it being unable to go through armor.

In conclusion

Overall, the Democratic Detonation warbond is definitely worth it, unlike the previous Warbond where the most valuable thing out of everything was the Arc Protection passive. This warbond offers weapons that are all pretty viable along with some nice armor sets.
