Diablo 4 Renown (How It Works)

Diablo 4 Renown Explanation

In Diablo 4, Renown is a progress system for account-wide bonuses as you explore and complete objectives in the five main Diablo 4 areas.

Whenever you start a new character it will have most of the renown bonuses you previously earned.

The Renown bonuses that are not account-wide include things like gold and a flat amount of XP, meanwhile, the account-wide will provide Talent points, Paragon points, and even potion charges.

Here’s everything we know so far based on the beta and we’ll be sure to add more after Diablo 4’s release date.

How to Get Renown

diablo 4 renown system

In Diablo 4 renown is earned in various ways as you play through the game.

Here are the Renown points awarded for completing different tasks:

  • Discover areas: 5 Renown
  • Altar of Lilith: 10 Renown
  • Unlock waypoints: 20 Renown
  • Side quests: 20 Renown
  • Dungeons: 30 Renown
  • Strongholds: 100 Renown

Dungeons and Strongholds can only be completed once each, side quests are multiple and each of them can be completed once, Altars of Lilith are spread all over the map and there is a large amount of them, they provide a large amount of renown and unlike side quests, they are something you want to complete as they grant buffs like +2 to INT, DEX, WILL, STR which you will need in the future.

All Known Diablo 4 Renown Rewards

So far, here are the rewards you can unlock:

  • Tier 1 (200 Renown Points)
    • XP + 3,000 gold
    • 1 Skill Point
  • Tier 2 (500 Renown Points)
    • XP + 10,000 gold

    • 80 Max Obols
  • Tier 5 (1,500 Renown Points)

Do I have to complete everything single one of these objectives?

No, completing a portion of them will be enough to earn all 5 Renown rewards, going overboard and completing every single thing will not provide additional benefits for your character.

Why is Renown important in Diablo 4?

By completing the Renown you earn a massive amount of Talent Points and Paragon Points:

  • Paragon: 20 Points
  • Talents: 10 Points

These are all massive parts of your final builds, so being able to collect Renown points as your progress your campaign is advised.
