5 Potential New Diablo 4 Classes

With the 2023 Blizzcon announcement of the new Vessel of Hatred expansion, we learned that there will be a new Diablo 4 class.

Not just a new class for Diablo 4, but a class that has never been in the franchise.

In this list, we’ll dive into five potential possibilities that tie into the jungle theme.

Note that some of this info may include leaks, so proceed at your own risk if you’re worried about spoilers!

As we learn more, we will update this article, so be sure to check back for more info.

1. Spiritborn

Warning! Potential leaks ahead.

The leading possibility for the new Diablo 4 class is the Spiritborn, which was part of a potential leak in October by YbuBaKa.

This particular leak has some validity, as they also predicted the expansion’s involvement of Mephisto.

Mechanically, the Spiritborn is another nature-based class, like the Druid, but focuses more on a special glaive weapon.

According to another mmo-champion thread, the glaive uses a two-resource system – one resource that focuses on physical traits and another that focuses on spellcasting.

2. Shaman

Up next on our list, is the Shaman! The Shaman would be sort of a successor or remix to the Witch Doctor of Diablo 3.

With the whole jungle theme, it would be a great fit, and we know there has been a decent amount of crossover with the World of Warcraft classes.

The Shaman would differ from the Witch Doctor by including totems in their gameplay, and perhaps specialize in AoE effects.

3. Spearman

Similar to our Shaman being somewhat of a callback to the Witch Doctor, the Spearman would be heir to the Diablo 2’s Amazon.

This would tie into the jungle with a tribal theme, and would include the use of javelins, spears, and potentially shields.

It’s been over twenty years since a class like this was in a Diablo roster, so it would definitely offer a distinct gameplay niche.

4. Chieftain

Rather than taking inspiration from a Diablo class, the Chieftain offers a playstyle from Path of Exile.

This Ascendancy class under the Marauder also involves totems like the Shaman, but leans more into debuffing enemies and life leeching.

So thematically, this wouldn’t be too different, but it does have some variations in terms of mechanics and specialization.

5. Pathfinder

Last but not least on our list is the Pathfinder, another possible class that is inspired by the PoE playbook.

A typical trope of jungle settings is the presence of poisons and other effects from the flora and fauna.

This would make the Pathfinder make sense, as it’s a class that focuses on flasks that protect it from ailments and offer other offensive/defensive effects.

Theme-wise, this would be like an explorer or archeologist. Definitely not what you would expect to face demons, but the skillset makes sense in the jungle!

Honorable Mentions

Here are some other classes that have not been in the Diablo franchise yet:

  • Bard
    • A class that sings might seem weird at first, but imagine a metal vocalist…
  • Priest
    • With a series that’s based on fighting demons from hell, not having a priest for this long seems a bit strange.
  • Warlock
    • Sometimes you have to dabble in dark arts to fight for good, the Warlock would offer an interesting spin on a more demonic kit.

In conclusion

Thanks for reading! This is of course mostly speculation with a dash of potential leaks, so let us know which class you’d like to see be added in the comment section.
