Quick Disclaimers

Here are our rankings for the best multiclasses in Baldur’s Gate 3:

  • Play the way you want! In BG3, you can respec anything besides race, so there’s nothing stopping you from trying things out until you find what’s ideal for your playstyle.
  • Party composition will always trump the power of any individual class. If your party members collectively synergize with their strengths and cover each other’s weaknesses, you’ll be pretty solid!
  • We’ve beaten the game on Tactician (and even done 2-man party runs) to define our rankings. However, understand that although Tactician is the hardest difficulty in BG3, it isn’t insanely difficult relative to other games. Because of this, there is a wide spectrum of builds that can work and we likely missed some due to the sheer amount of multiclass combinations.

Multiclass Tier List Commentary

This tier list is designed to mix and match classes in the game to make a “new” class. A class that feels different than the current classes available. As such, we have left out the classes that dip into others to gain proficiency only, as they will not feel unique from their base classes.

Although multiclassing in BG3 is much more flexible than D&D 5th edition, there can still be awkward levels that feel underwhelming or weak.

Due to this, our rankings take into account not just the ultimate potential of the multiclass (aka the final destination) but also how smooth the leveling is along the way (aka the journey).

S-tier

S-tier multiclasses are a cut above the others due to their immense power to dominate fights and provide incredible value to their parties in a wide variety of ways. These classes will carry your party through the game with ease.

A-tier

A-tier multiclasses are very good but tend to be more specialized/less versatile than the S-tiers. They range from crushing all your enemies with lightning AoE abilities to being the best face of the party possible. Whatever you desire, these classes will not let you down. Choose these classes if you want your multiclass to be more focused in one area than others.

B-tier

B-tier multiclasses have some major strengths to them, but they do tend to struggle in some situations. These classes benefit more from a well-thought-out game plan than from a frontal assault. Choose these classes if you are the type of player who wants a unique class experience but still wants the game to provide some difficulties.

C-tier

The C-tier multiclasses are the fun builds! These classes each provide something unique and make you laugh when your maneuver succeeds. These classes are not recommended for Tactician, unless of course, you are the GOAT.

M-tier

This is the Meme-tier specifically for the 1 Level Every Class build. We’ll have more info on this soon in terms of the best way to progress it from level 1 through 12.
