Zenless Zone Zero Ben Bigger Overview
Welcome to our Zenless Zone Zero character guide, where we cover everything you need to know about Ben.
Ben Bigger is an A Rank Agent from the Belobog Heavy Industries Faction with the Fire Attribute and Defense Fighting Style. He is a Standard A Rank Agent, meaning you can obtain more copies of Ben on any character banner through the Gacha System.
Ben is currently the only Defense Agent in the game, making him quite unique compared to other Agents. His kit provides a lot of defensive utility with things like Shields, Blocking, DEF scaling, etc.
In CBT2, many players reported Ben being extremely powerful. This is because you were able to “cheese” bosses with his defensive kit and breeze through the fight.
We don’t know for sure if this will be the case for release, but the potential is there for the ZZZ agents meta. With his Special Attack, he can easily parry attacks while also dishing out decent damage.
For release, we do expect Hoyo to rebalance things, so Ben may not necessarily be overpowered anymore. Even still, there is no “Healer” in the game currently, so Ben provides that extra survivability/sustain you may want for comfy gameplay.

Zenless Zone Zero Ben Build Guide Overview
W-Engine | Drive Disc | ||

|
When building Ben, there are two main considerations.
Scaling into DEF stats will increase his personal damage and supportive capability. Ben’s ATK stat is tied to his DEF through his Core Passive, giving him more damage even if you build DEF.
His shield also scales off his DEF which will be the main form of utility for the entire team.
If you plan to build Ben mainly as a supportive Agent, you can mostly focus on DEF stats and have other stats be a nice bonus to have. If you want to tackle bosses with Ben as your main on-field Agent, you should look to also increase his personal damage through the usual stats like PEN/Crit/ATK, etc.
Ben W-Engines
Big Cylinder |
ATK: 42/624 | DEF%: 16%/40% Reduces DMG taken by 7.5/8.5/9.5/10.5/12%. After being attacked, the next attack to hit an enemy will trigger a critical hit and deal 600/690/780/870/960% of the equipper’s DEF as additional DMG. This effect can be triggered once every 7.5s. |
Bunny Band |
ATK: 40/594 | DEF%: 16%/40% Increases Max HP by 8/9.2/10.4/11.6/12.8%. Increases the equipper’s ATK by 10/11.5/13/14.5/16% when they are shielded. |
When it comes to W-Engines in ZZZ, every Agent has a signature weapon. You can definitely tell as one W-Engine will match the aesthetic and kit of every character.
For Ben, his signature W-Engine is Big Cylinder. This has higher Base ATK compared to other A Rank Engines and also has DEF% Main Stat. The passive is also nice as it synergizes with Ben’s kit very well.
There aren’t too many Defense W-Engines in the game, and there isn’t even an S Rank Defense Engine. Bunny Band is our next recommendation since it has DEF% Main Stat, but you can use the other A Rank Engines if you don’t have these two.
Ben Drive Discs
Soul Rock |
(2): Increases DEF by 16%. (4): Upon receiving an enemy attack and losing HP, the equipper takes 40% less DMG for 2.5s. This effect can trigger once every 15s. |
Swing Jazz |
(2): Energy Regen increases by 20%. (4): Launching a Chain Attack or Ultimate increases all squad members’ DMG by 15% for 12s. Passive effects of the same name do not stack. |
Inferno Metal |
(2): Increases Fire DMG by 10%. (4): Upon hitting a Burning enemy, increase CRIT by 28% for 8s. |
When it comes to Drive Discs for Ben, there are three main sets to highlight: Soul Rock, Swing Jazz, and Inferno Metal.
Soul Rock is the DEF Drive Disc set, and the 2-piece bonus grants some extra DEF% which is great. However, we’re not too impressed with the 4-piece. Ben already excels at surviving through content, so giving him more survivability doesn’t seem ideal. However, if you want to be as tanky as possible, Soul Rock (4) is definitely something to consider.
Swing Jazz is the next set and a great fit for Ben. The 2-piece grants Energy Regen% which is great for just about any Agent. The 4-piece bonus also increases the entire team’s damage, which is another great effect. This set can be used even if you run Ben as your main damage or as a support.
Inferno Metal the last set to consider, and is a selfish set that only buffs Ben’s personal damage. This is the set to pick if you want to “main” Ben and have him be on field most of the fight.
While combining 4-piece + 2-piece is generally advised, Ben can also be very strong by combining these sets in a 2/2/2 setup. A little mix of everything can be good, so keep that in mind as well.
Ben Drive Disc Stats
Main Stats
- (4) DEF%
- (5) DEF%/Fire DMG%
- (6) Energy Regen%
When it comes to Main Stats, building Ben can be pretty straight forward. You can grab DEF% on Partition IV and V as it’s the main stat of importance for Ben.
Energy Regen is a simple and effective pick for Partition VI. If you wanted, you could even just run DEF% on all three Partitions.
If you want to increase the personal damage of Ben, you can experiment with trading out the DEF% for offensive stats like Crit (IV) or Fire DMG% (V).
Substats
- DEF%
- PEN
- Impact
- Crit Rate%/Crit DMG%
When it comes to Substats, things are mostly the same. DEF% is your first priority, followed by small bonuses with things like Impact or Crit stats, PEN, ATK%, etc.
If you really want to maximize Ben’s personal damage, you can try to build pieces with high Crit and DEF%. But for value, simply getting lots of DEF% Substats will be easier and efficient.
Ben Skill Priority
Once the game releases, we’ll update this section. In general, leveling up an Agent’s Core Passive is the most effective, as this levels up their Core Passive, Additional Ability, and Assist Moves.
Ben Teams
As with all characters, Ben pairs best with other Agents that are either the same Attribute or Faction. This activates his Additional Ability, which provides strong passive buffs.
This is especially important if you run Ben as a “support.” His Additional Ability grants a large Crit Rate bonus, so having at least one Belobog/Fire Agent with Ben will be important.
Lastly, Koleda is another Agent that synergizes even more with Ben. Not only is she Fire Attribute and from Belobog, but her kit deals extra damage when you have both Koleda and Ben on your team.
However, you can definitely use Ben efficiently without Koleda. It’s more so Ben makes Koleda better, while Ben by himself is already a solid Agent.
Mono Fire Team
Soldier 11, Koleda, Ben
This first team is the first thing people think of for Ben. This is because you have the obvious pair of Koleda (Stun) and Ben (Defense). From there, you add Soldier 11 who is Fire and Attack.
Since Soldier 11 doesn’t have any other Agents in her Faction yet, you’ll need Fire Agents to activate her Additional Ability, which is where Koleda/Ben come in.
This team requires 3 specific Agents, which can be difficult/expensive to obtain.
Replacements: If you don’t have Soldier 11, the third slot is generally quite flexible. Koleda + Ben make a strong duo in terms of both utility and damage, so your third slot is extremely flexible.
You can go with an Attack Agent like Anton (Electric/Belobog) or a Support like Nicole (Ether/Cunning Hares).
Belobog Disorder Team
Koleda, Ben, Grace
Next up, let’s talk about a team with Grace as the 3rd piece. We have the duo of Koleda and Ben with space for one more Agent.
One of the best choices might be Grace, since she provides strong damage with her Anomaly, while also being Belobog to activate her Additional Ability.
Having Grace also allows this team to trigger Disorder (two different types of Attribute Anomaly on one enemy) very efficiently. Ben can either build towards Defense sets/stats or a supportive effect to empower the other two Agents.
Ben F2P Team
Anton, Anby, Ben
This team uses only A Rank Agents and is an example team of something you can put together. We have all Additional Abilities activated through Attributes or Faction. (Anton Electric/Belobog) (Anby Electric/Cunning Hares) (Ben Fire/Belobog)
Anton takes a traditional “carry” role with his Attack Style, Anby will help inflict Daze with her Stun Style, and Ben is a multi purpose tank/support with his Defense Style.
Since the roster is quite limited, there are only so many Attribute/Faction synergies, but as more Fire/Belobog Agents release, Ben will always be a solid option with his unique kit.
Closing Words
This wraps up our guide for Ben in Zenless Zone Zero. Overall, Ben is a unique Agent due to him being the only Defense Agent in the game currently.
While he might not top the damage charts, he allows you to play comfortably, parrying/blocking enemy attacks with ease. This is even better early on since there are no healers in the game (yet).
Uutside of his defensive utility, he even provides the team with a solid Crit buff through his Additional Ability. This makes him a great Agent for any account, as he can fit into a variety of teams and bring a lot to the table.
