Ranked by how much faster and safer two classes level together than alone. Notes up to Oct 27.
Best Leveling Duos in WoW Forever - Duo Tier List
Tier List
The safest duo in WoW Forever. You almost can't die with
Lay on Hands,
Blessing of Protection and
Power Word: Shield, and
Power Word: Shield no longer overwrites
Seal of Fury. In dungeons the Paladin tanks and the Priest heals, and you never fight over gear. Start together as
Human,
Dwarf or
Undead.
The duo that never sits down. The Warlock trades health for mana with
Life Tap and the Priest heals it right back. It works from level 10 on and never really stops. Your only real weak spot is gear, because you both want cloth. Start together as
Human,
Gnome,
Undead or
Troll.
The Warrior needs a healer more than almost any other class, and the Shaman heals while fighting next to them.
Windfury Weapon at level 30 gives the Shaman big bursts of extra attacks and
Windfury Totem at 32 gives them to the Warrior too, so this duo gets stronger with every level. Start together as
Dwarf on Alliance, or as
Orc,
Tauren,
Troll or
Windshaper Skyborne on Horde.
You are both hard to kill and you can both tank. The Paladin heals and buffs the Warrior with
Blessing of Might and
Lay on Hands and still deals real damage, so you also kill fast. The one downside is gear, because you both want mail, later plate, and strength. Start together as
Human,
Dwarf or
Undead.
Impossible in Classic, possible now because the
Dwarf can play both classes, so you start together in the Dwarf starting zone. You both heal and you stack blessings with totems. In dungeons the Paladin tanks and the Shaman heals. You kill slowly in the early levels, but from about level 20 you are an unstoppable force, and
Windfury Weapon at 30 makes your clear speed skyrocket. On Horde you can't start together.
Two healers who will almost never die. From level 10 the Druid holds mobs in
Bear Form while the Priest heals, so your dungeon runs are effective early. The start is slow, so you could argue for A tier, but clear speed jumps once the Priest goes Shadow or the Druid gets
Cat Form at 20. Only the
Night Elf plays both classes, on Horde no race can.
High A tier. Two classes in stealth sneak past half a cave and open on exactly the mob you need, but only from level 20, when the Druid learns
Prowl. After that the Druid heals or tanks your dungeons, and in world PvP you are nasty together. You both want leather, so you fight over those drops. Start together as
Night Elf,
High Order Skyborne or
Windshaper Skyborne.
High A tier. The Hunter levels well alone, so the real question is who keeps up. The Druid heals while you run to the next mob, and
Cat Form at 20 and
Travel Form at 30 keep the pace. You can even do dungeons with the pet tanking and the Druid healing. The first ten levels are the slow part. Start together as
Night Elf,
Tauren,
High Order Skyborne or
Windshaper Skyborne.
Two very different classes, and that's why it works. The Mage brings water, food, damage and crowd control, the Paladin brings heals, blessings and safety. From level 20 the Paladin holds a pack with
Consecration and the Mage burns it down with
Arcane Explosion,
Flamestrike and
Blizzard. There is zero gear overlap. Start together as
Human or
Undead.
Power Word: Shield at 6 and
Renew at 8 remove the Warrior's food breaks, and absorbs are ignored for rage now, so the shield doesn't cost you rage anymore. You have a tank and a healer for every dungeon and no gear fight. It might even be S tier, it only lacks the burst of
Windfury Totem. Start together as
Human,
Dwarf,
Night Elf,
Gnome,
Undead or
Troll.
This is the duo I will play with a friend. The Warlock uses
Life Tap, the Paladin heals it back, and
Blessing of Wisdom means even less downtime.
Summon Voidwalker or the Paladin tanks, and there is zero gear overlap. It misses S tier because the Paladin heals with big casts that cost a lot of mana. Start together as
Human or
Undead.
The Hunter doesn't need this duo, it just makes the trip a lot more comfortable. The Shaman heals the Hunter and the pet and adds damage.
Ghost Wolf and
Aspect of the Cheetah both come at level 20, and
Aspect of the Pack at 40 speeds up both of you. Start together as
Dwarf on Alliance, or as
Orc,
Tauren,
Troll or
Windshaper Skyborne on Horde.
A Rogue alone eats after almost every fight, and the Priest fixes that with
Power Word: Shield and
Renew. Your crowd control is great with
Sap,
Psychic Scream,
Shackle Undead and
Mind Control, and on a PvP server this duo is nasty. The only downside is that the Priest can't follow you in stealth. Start together as
Human,
Dwarf,
Night Elf,
Gnome,
Undead or
Troll.
The most flexible duo in the game. You can both heal, you can both deal damage, and the Druid can tank, so you can join any dungeon.
Ghost Wolf at 20 and
Travel Form at 30 keep you moving fast. The catch is the start, because on Alliance no race plays both classes. To start together, go Horde as
Tauren or
Windshaper Skyborne.
The Druid's heal over time spells keep the Warrior pulling and
Entangling Roots stops runners. From level 10 the Druid can use
Bear Form, so in dungeons one of you tanks and the other heals or deals damage. It ranks below Warrior + Shaman because the Druid is slow in the first ten levels and you have no
Windfury Totem. Start together as
Night Elf,
Tauren,
High Order Skyborne or
Windshaper Skyborne.
On paper this is almost Warlock + Priest. The Warlock uses
Life Tap, the Druid heals it back with
Rejuvenation and
Regrowth, and you both put damage over time on everything. It misses S tier because no race plays both classes, so you can't start together. On Horde an
Orc or
Troll Warlock and a
Tauren Druid at least meet in the Barrens.
B tier, but close to A. The Shaman heals the Rogue, so you don't eat after every pull, and
Strength of Earth Totem at 10 makes the Rogue hit harder. The big payoff comes late with
Windfury Totem at 32, and until 40 the Shaman wears leather too, so you fight over gear. Start together as
Dwarf on Alliance, or as
Orc,
Troll or
Windshaper Skyborne on Horde.
The Mage's water covers your mana, the Druid heals, and
Entangling Roots plus
Frost Nova give you a lot of control. From level 20 the bear holds the pack with
Swipe and the Mage drops
Blizzard on it. Only the
High Order Skyborne plays both classes. On Horde a
Tauren Druid and an
Orc,
Troll or
Undead Mage meet up later. The first ten levels are slow.
Fast, with a lot of damage and almost no mana breaks thanks to
Conjure Water and
Life Tap. From level 10 the Voidwalker is your tank. But you have no real healer, you both wear cloth and roll for the same items, and you always have to find a healer and a tank for groups.
Great crowd control with
Sap and
Frost Nova, and
Conjure Food means nobody buys anything. But nobody heals and both classes break fast when something goes wrong, so one bad pull costs you a long break. A fun duo for world PvP, but other class combinations level better.
A lot of damage on the same target, but neither of you can heal.
Victory Rush is almost all the healing you get, so after every second pull you both sit down and eat. You also fight over a lot of the same weapons. It can work if you really want it, with a lot of downtime.
Not ranked, just really fun. You both conjure food and water and burn down big packs with
Frost Nova and
Blizzard, so you don't really need a heal. Not perfect, but fun.
Not ranked, just really fun. Nobody heals, but you go for quest objectives together, use
Sap and burst things down. On a PvP server you simply delete people.
Ranking Explanations
Paladin + Priest is my safest pick: two classes that almost can't die, a ready tank and healer for dungeons and no fight over gear. Warlock + Priest is the duo that never sits down, because the Priest heals back everything
Life Tap costs.
The closest call is Warrior + Priest in A tier, which might even be S tier. A Shaman brings
Windfury Totem and a Paladin deals real damage, so both rank higher for leveling.
Every row is one duo, and the icons show one key ability per class. The comment on each row says why it ranks there and, where a shared race matters, which races can start together. I rank by downtime, covered weak spots, dungeons and a shared race at level 1. The beta stopped at level 30, so everything above comes from the spell data in the beta client and can still change.
