Overview

Restoration Druid has been buffed into an absolute freak beast of a healer. Regrowth is one of the highest value single target heals in the entire game. Swiftmend and Nature's Swiftness are able to save party members with huge instant heals. Wild Growth and Tranquility make Druid the ultimate party healer, both healing an insane amount of health and able to do it with surprising mana cost efficiency. Innervate and Reflection give Druid unbelievable amounts of mana regen, which combined with their already incredibly mana efficient heals gives Restoration a never ending well of heals. Mark of the Wild as well as Thorns are extremely powerful tank buffs, giving large amounts of armor, stats, damage, and threat generation to your party members.

In WoW: Forever, Restoration Druid has a tool for every situation and is an incredibly powerful healer.

Restoration is an absolute bonkers healer in WoW: Forever that comes with a tool for every job. In this guide I will show you how to play a setup that's primarily focused on healing, but thanks to the new Druid talent trees we actually still get a few tools for solo World Questing. However this is a healing build, and I highly suggest you opt into Duel Spec at level 40. More info about Duel Specing will be at the bottom of the talent page!

Talent Order

Restoration Tree

5/5 Nature's Focus: Getting a 70% chance to avoid spell push back on both our healing and damage spells is very nice for both healing parties and for Solo Questing. It allows us to face tank mobs as we dps them down in the world, and in parties if we get aggro this talent allows us to still get our spell casts off.

5/5 Naturalist: We are taking this talent primarily for the 5% damage, although the reduced cast time on Healing Touch is a nice bonus. This 5% damage applies to literally everything, meaning we are free to dps in whatever way makes sense. If we pull multiple enemies we can Moonfire them and then go Bear Form to Swipe them down. If fighting one enemy we can just spam Starfire and burn them down. This talent even applies to our basic attacks, meaning we can even just stay human form and staff bash down enemies.

3/3 Reflection: Keeping 50% of our mana regen going at all times is just amazing. Like our previous talents, this is extremely effective both for healing parties and for Solo Questing. This talent is amazing for both long, extended fights but also for easy encounters as we can convert this extra mana into damage. For Solo Questing this talent gives us fantastic uptime, allowing us to clear several more enemies without drinking.

2/5 Gift of Nature: Getting 4% more healing on all effects is a nice bonus that in my opinion outweighs Gift of the Earthmother, at least at this early stage. Druid has so much healing throughput that getting out your heals faster will rarely be the deciding factor in wipes. More often than not, mana efficiency will actually be what determines party wipes. Because of this, extra healing is more powerful than reduced global cooldown.

1/1 Swiftmend: An instant cast burst heal with fantastic mana efficiency. This will be your highest priority single target heal after Regrowth, and unlocking this talent represent a significant power spike. Generally your best target will be Regrowth, but if you have Improved Rejuvenation then at certain levels Rejuvenation will actually be slightly stronger. Just check the tooltip values and whichever is higher is your preferred target.

5/5 Gift of Nature: At this point we round out Gift of Nature for a total of 10% increased healing. Great for both raw healing per second but also for mana cost efficiency.

1/3 Improved Rejuvenation: Rejuvenation is a solid instant cast spell and at times will actually pass Regrowth for our Swiftmend target.

1/1 Nature's Swiftness: This typically be used to make our Healing Touch instant cast, but we can also use it to make Entangling Roots instant.

3/3 Improved Rejuvenation: Rounding out this talent will make our Rejuvenation even more powerful. This is valuable because we can preemptively Regrowth and Rejuvenation the tank and then let our mana regen, which allows us to stay way ahead on healing and stay very mana efficient.

2/2 Improved Tranquility: Tranquility is mana efficient when just healing just two targets, and is also already hps efficient around 3 targets. If your whole party is losing health, Tranquility is unbelievably strong for its mana cost. However, a major draw back of Tranquility is that it generates a TON of threat. Adding to this threat problem, its also most powerful after your tank has already lost control of the pack. The threat generation of Tranquility can quickly turn a powerful group heal into a death sentence for you as all the loss mobs quickly find you as their new target. This is where Improved Tranquility comes into play as it fully removes the threat generation of Tranquility while also reducing its cooldown by 60%.

3/3 Living Spirit: A pretty strong talent when paired with Reflection, which allows the extra mana regen from this spirit to continue working while casting. It's not the strongest talent ever, but we need it for Wild Growth.

2/5 Improved Regrowth: Regrowth is already our most mana efficient single target heal, and with this 40% extra crit chance the efficiency get even higher. This is particularly powerful now that heal over time effects can crit.

1/1 Wild Growth: It's hard to over state just how powerful of a group heal this is. You can basically think about it as an instant cast Rejuvenation that goes on your entire party and does all of its healing 5 seconds faster. At just two targets Wild Growth is already vastly higher HPS than any other spell we have and at 4 targets its also very mana efficient. Use this spell anytime at least 4 party members are missing a small chunk of hp. However what's incredible about this spell is that it gives Druid a way to very quickly convert mana into party health. So anytime you have some extra mana and multiple party members are getting low, you can throw out a quick Wild Growth to quickly top everyone off. Just remember that Wild Growth is only mana efficient when healing at least 4 targets.

Balance Tree

With Wild Growth and the most powerful Restoration talents unlocked we can now swap into the Balance tree. We are specifically looking to take Nature's Splendor, which will provide massive buffs to both our Rejuvenation as well as our Regrowth.

5/5 Genesis: will increase both our Heal Over Time effects as well as our Damage Over Time effects by 5%. This hits most of ours heals, and also Moonfire.

2/2 Nature's Majesty: 4% crit chance will give us a little bit of damage and a little bit of healing. Not super strong but its the best thing we can take.

2/2 Improved Moonfire: This gives about 15% damage to Moonfire, which is a nice buff and allows us to use it when we have extra mana to get some free damage out.

1/3 Moonglow: This will cut 8% mana off of our Moonfire, increasing the mana efficiency. Again not the strongest talent but needed to get access to Nature's Splendor.

1/1 Nature's Splendor We now get 3 extra seconds on Moonfire and Rejuvenation as well as 6 extra seconds on Regrowth. This comes out to be a 25% increase on our Rejuvenation healing, a ~13% increase on our total Regrowth healing, and a ~16% increase on our total Moonfire damage.

Remaining Points

Now at this point with Nature's Splendor we've pretty much got everything we want outside of the Restoration tree, so we're going to come back and pick up some strong points that we left behind.

5/5 Improved Regrowth: Regrowth is already our most mana efficient single target heal, and with this 40% extra crit chance the efficiency get even higher. This is particularly powerful now that heal over time effects can crit.

1/1 Gift of the Earthmother: This talent becomes much more powerful as dungeons get harder and as we scale our Rejuvenation harder and harder. Now that we have Nature's Splendor, the value of spamming out Rejuvenation is extremely high, so reducing the Global Cooldown on it is very powerful. Gift of the Earthmother also reducing the global cooldown on Swiftmend and Wild Growth is a nice bonus.

5/5 Tranquil Spirit: Reducing the mana cost on both our Healing Touch and our Tranquility is nice for increasing our mana efficiency. This isn't a super powerful talent, but its the best we can get!

Duel Spec

As strong of a healer as Restoration is, a big weakness of this spec is that it is not a very good solo world quester. You can level all the way to 60 playing Restoration while questing, however at level 40 you will unlock the ability to duel spec, meaning you can swap in and out of Restoration based on your needs. The duel spec is actually a bit of a tough choice. Feral Combat is stronger than Balance for leveling, but the gear for your Restoration build and the gear for yourFeral Combat build are complete opposites. Balance meanwhile has very similar desires to Restoration for itemization. I would suggest playing Feral Combat if you're up for constant big gear swaps and managing two sets of gear, but if that sounds overly tedious I would suggest Balance instead. Any of the three specs can get to 60 without too much frustration, but if you're willing to put in the extra work duel specing and managing an extra set of gear will save you some time.

If you want to make changes to your build you can use our Druid Talent Calculator to adjust talents according to your needs.

Gameplay and Main Abilities

Restoration is an extremely fun and in depth healer. Its easy to learn but has so many tool for so many situations that the skill ceiling is surprisingly high.

What Druid lacks in utility it makes up for with insane healing throughput and healing flexability, allowing them to easily handle any situation that arises. For sustained mana efficient single target healing they have Rejuvenation and Regrowth. For burst single target healing they have Swiftmend and Nature's Swiftness. For burst party healing they bring Wild Growth, and for sustained party healing they have Tranquility.

This absolute arsenal of powerful healing spells allows the Druid to easily handle any healing situation that arises.

Major Changes

Druid is one of the most changed classes in WoW: Forever, and if you're a returning player here's a quick overview to get you caught up.

1. Heal Over Time and Damage Over Time effects can now crit! This is huge for Restoration Druid as a huge amount of our healing comes from Heal Over Time Effects!

2. Mana and energy regen now occur continuously instead ticking up every 2 seconds. This changes a lot about druid, but at a basic level means its a lot easier to spend down to 0 energy and its much less important to time spell casts around mana ticks.

3. Faerie Fire and Nature's Grasp are now baseline and do not require talent points to unlock or upgrade.

4. There have been massive talent tree changes, including some nerfs and some buffs. There's a lot to look into, but overall Druid has a lot more options and a lot more power from their talent tree.

5. Druid can now use Polearms!

Healing Spell Breakdowns

Rejuvenation: This simple, instant, heal over time spell is actually surprisingly deep and nuanced. Rejuvenation scales very well with Magic Healing on gear, making it both mana efficient and giving it decent HPS. On top of that, because its a Heal Over Time, you can precast it before the damage actually happens. This allows your mana to start regening while the Rejuvenation keeps the target healthy. Because its instant cast, its also great to use if enemies are hitting you as you don't have to worry about spell pushback.

Regrowth: By far our most mana efficient single target heal that is also very HPS efficient. Always use as your highest priority single target heal unless you know for sure the player will be full life before most of the healing will happen.

Swiftmend: This spell is so mana efficient that it's competitive with Regrowth for single target healing. Think about it as being cheaper than Rejuvenation while doing similar healing, but all instantly instead of over time. Whenever someone is missing enough hp, Swiftmend is your highest priority catch up heal. Keep in mind that based on your level and talents, Regrowth or Rejuvenation could be a better target. They are typically very close, but just check your tooltips to see which is better on your current character.

Healing Touch: This is your spamable catch up heal. Use this when you need single target burst healing, after both Regrowth and Swiftmend have already been used. The HPS of this heal is actually great, but the mana efficiency is slightly worse than Druid's other heals. However you should never feel bad about casting Healing Touch, as its mana efficiency is that not that far off.

Tranquility: An extremely powerful party heal that is decent when healing two targets, and becomes increasingly more insane the more damaged party members you have. Tranquility is actually such a potent heal that one of the big downsides is the incredible threat generation it creates from the amount of raw healing going out. This gets solved with Improved Tranquility, but until you get that talent its important to be very mindful of when you are using Tranquility as you can easily cause a group wipe by getting threat.

Wild Growth: The ultimate party panic button. Wild Growth is an instant cast party wide heal that gets insane mana value at 4+ targets and fantastic HPS value at just 2 targets. This spell allows you to save your party in situations they have no right surviving in. Its important to be mindful of the amount of threat you will generate from the insane amount of healing.

Nature's Swiftness: This will primarily be used to make your Healing Touch instant cast, allowing you to save a player in a clutch moment. Make sure to save Nature's Swiftness for key moments where you need the instant heal, as it does have a 3 minute cooldown.

Rotation

Druid is a very weird class for leveling as it changes fairly significantly multiple times during the leveling process. I think the best approach is to consider the rotation in three different stages.

First always keep up Mark of the Wild on your whole party, and keep Thorns on anyone who will be getting hit. Keep in mind Thorns will generate aggro for whomever its cast on, meaning if you're playing with a tank it'll increase his threat generation. These buffs also work on pets!

Solo Questing

Early Levels (Levels 1-10)

Before we get shapeshifts we are very reliant on our spells and Auto Attacks to beat down enemies. During this stage we have great 2 target damage, so be sure to always try and pull multiple enemies!

1. Keep up Moonfire on enemies

2. Maintain Rejuvenation on yourself if you're missing some HP

3. Cast Wrath if you have extra mana to spend and there's not more than 1 enemy in melee

4. Use your Auto Attack to finish off enemies

Bear Form (Levels 10-15)

At this point in the game, your spell damage will start to scale badly until you get a spell damage weapon. This means Bear Form is actually quite a bit better until we get a decent caster weapon. You can keep clearing by spell casting if you want, but just keep in mind you'll be fairly weak.

1. If you're missing hp, heal yourself with Regrowth > Rejuvenation > Healing Touch. Then pull two enemies, putting Moonfire on each of them.

2. Use Enrage to generate rage to then cast Demoralizing Roar to reduce the enemies damage output. When fighting spell casters we can skip Demoralizing Roar.

3. Spend your rage on Maul.

Spell Caster (Level 15+)

1. Moonfire: Keep up if the enemy will live for at least 9 seconds

2. Starfire: Your highest dps spell. Nature's Focus will allows you to complete the long cast even if the enemy is hitting you

3. Wrath: If low on mana you can use Wrath for better damage/mana spent efficiency. Also if your Starfire will overkill enemies you can use Wrath to finish them off

Healing Spell Priority

Our healing is very much based on a priority system, aimed at optimizing both mana efficiency and healing throughput. Keep in mind that for perfectly optimal healing, there's a lot of depth and nuance. This priority list is meant to get you started and provide some initial context for how and when to use your heals.

1. Wild Growth: If you can get full value on at least 3 targets this is by far the best heal you can use, both in terms of HPS and mana efficiency.

2. Tranquility: If you can cast Tranquility getting constant healing on 3+ targets without anyone dying the value is just unmatched. However, keep in mind that the single target healing won't be as strong. You will typically want to put Regrowth and Rejuvenation on your tank before you Tranquility to make sure they stay up while you're channeling.

3. Regrowth: Your best single target healing. Always keep it up on the tank and use it anytime you can get most of the heal off on a party member.

4. Swiftmend: The perfect catch up spell, allowing you to efficiently burst heal an ally. Use anytime you can get full value.

5. Rejuvenation: There's really two strong use cases for Rejuvenation. The first is as a proactive heal, allowing your mana to regen while it heals. The second case is as a quick heal to top off allies who aren't damaged enough to justify a Regrowth.

6. Healing Touch: Your last resort single target heal. It should only be used if it will stop someone from dying.

Races

In traditional classic your race choice for Druid was determined by your faction choice, as each faction only had 1 race that could be a Druid. However in WoW: Forever, each faction now has two race choices for their Druid. While the Skyrborne exists for both Horde and Alliance, they actually have slight changes in their racial abilities based on which faction they choose.

Horde

Tauren

With access to War Stomp Tauren are able to control mobs and get out quick spell casts where the other races couldn't. It's also a fantastic pvp tool.

Tauren's other combat racial is the reworked Endurance, which still gives the 5% extra health but now also gives 2% increased crit damage and healing. This has nice synergies with talents like Improved Moonfire, Nature's Majesty, and Improved Regrowth.

They also get access to a new Racial called Plainsrunning, which allows them to gain an insane amount of movement speed as long as they keep moving. This, combined with their new cultivation passive that gives them random free Herbs in the world makes them an excellent profession grinder race.

Overall the Tauren are a very weird race to analyze with some of the most unique tools and abilities of any race in WoW: Forever.

Skyborne

The Skyborne on Horde and Alliance both gain Walk on Air, which allows them to fall any distance without taking damage. They also get 3% haste, as well as 5% damage against elementals. On the Horde specific side, they gain a self cast buff that gives them extra run speed. This 3% Haste is okay, it allows you to get your heals out faster although it does not improve your mana efficiency. Also keep in mind that in WoW: Forever, heal over time and damage over time effects are not affected by haste.

Overall, Tauren seem like the strongest Horde choice for Druid due to the crit synergies.

Alliance

Night Elf

Elune's Light is decent for Restoration. It gives you 10% critical strike chance for 15 seconds, which unfortunately doesn't really have any synergies with Restoration. They still have Shadowmeld, which is a decent passive. But their Quickness passive has been changed to also give 2% increased run speed.

A lot of the power of Night Elf is based around Elune's Light, which can be decent when paired with spells like Wild Growth. However without any special synergies, it feels a bit underwhelming.

Skyborne

The Skyborne on Horde and Alliance both gain Walk on Air, which allows them to fall any distance without taking damage. They also get 3% haste, as well as 5% damage against elementals. On the Alliance specific side, they gain a self cast buff that gives them mana and health regen through Read Ley Line.

Now in general Read Leyline is going to be a fairly strong leveling skill, often replacing the need to drink with a quick Ley Line Channel. Currently, this is multiplied by the mana regen bonus from Innervate. This is stupidly powerful, and will likely get nerfed. However even if they prevent Read Leyline from multiplying with Innervate, it's still decently powerful.

On the alliance side I would suggest Skyborne for the incredible mana regen.

On the Horde Side Tauren is a great race.

Stat Priority

Increased Healing > Intellect = Sprit >> Stamina >> Agility >> Strength

Increased Healing is far and away our best stat as it will just increase the amount of healing we do. This serves to both increase our Healing Per Second, but it also increases our mana efficiency as we'll need to cast less heals.

Intellect is amazing as it both increases our maximum mana while also giving increased spell crit chance. Because Heal Over Time effects can now crit, this is very juicy!

Spirit works very well with both Reflection and Living Spirit to give us a constant flow of mana. In a single short fight, the mana from Intellect is better, but having high Spirit allows us to do many pulls in a row without needing to drink, and over a few minutes Spirit will give more mana than Intellect!

Stamina is way lower priority than the first 3 stats, but it's nice to have when it's free.

Agility gives a small amount of defense and also increases our melee crit chance. Pretty useless but still better than strength!

Strength gives some melee damage, which is mostly useless for us. It can be nice at very low levels for getting a bit more damage on our staff hits.

Cloth vs Leather

For group content, it doesn't really matter at all whether you are wearing cloth or leather. However for solo content when you are face tanking enemy attacks it can actually make a fairly large difference. Keep in mind when playing solo that if you are in full Cloth you're gonna take a lot more damage!

Tips and Tricks

Proactive vs Reactive Healing

Proactive heals are heals you put out before the damage happens, and reactive heals are used after the damage already happend. A good Restoration player will make a lot of use of Proactive healing to conserve mana for when they need to react. A great example of this is using Regrowth into a Rejuvenation on your tank a couple of seconds after he pulls. The initial heal of the Regrowth will top up his hp, and then the combined regen of the two heals will keep him topped. This allows you free time to fully regenerate your mana. By proactive healing, we basically get to cast two heals for free! We can then react to damage by using spells like Swiftmend and Healing Touch for burst single target healing and Wild Growth for burst party healing.

Omen of Clarity

Omen of Clarity is now unlocked for all Druids at level 20, and it gives your spells and attacks a chance to make your next spell free. We can abuse this by doing things like auto attacking enemies when we don't have any heals to cast to fish for procs of Omen of Clarity. Spending these procs on spells like Wild Growth or Tranquility offer absurd value.

Mana Regen

One of the most important things to keep in mind when playing a Druid is the 5 second rule. Mana regen will not start until you have not spent mana for 5 seconds, and once its started it will stop as soon as we spend any mana. This means we want to batch our spells together, and then shapeshift into an animal while our mana regens.

Ability Unlocks

Remember that new abilities are unlocked on every even level, so make sure you're going back to your trainer every other level to learn your new skills.
