In this quick guide we'll cover the cost of unlocking Heroes, along with a breakdown of earning Gems.
All Heroes cost an equal amount of Gems with the exception of Vanessa, who is free.
Purchasing a Hero costs 3000 Gems, but players also get a sizeable discount on the first two purchased Heroes.
There is currently no additional cost on newly released Heroes, meaning it's possible to save your first or second discount for future unreleased content if desired.
In terms of real money, 3000 Gems is the equivalent of $30 USD. However, don't let that deter you because Gems can be earned just by playing the game!
Gems can be earned by opening Chests, and Chests are granted at various win thresholds in Ranked Mode. While entry into Ranked Mode costs 100 Gems per run, players are given one free Ranked Ticket every day, allowing everyone the chance to earn rewards.
Note: The daily Ranked Ticket doesn't stack, so be sure to play your free run each day if you want to maximize rewards and build up your supply of Gems!
Additionally, you can also receive Chests and Ranked Tickets simply by playing and progressing along the Prize Pass. Playing the game and completing Daily/Weekly Challenges will reward you, regardless of whether you win or lose.
Let's take a look at the Chest Breakdown.
At a very minimum, each chest is guaranteed to have at least 35 Gems. However, half of the time you will also receive a fair amount more. While this may not seem like a lot, in practice it adds up quick, especially once you start to get a better grasp of the game.
Getting 10 wins will even leave you with a surplus of Gems beyond the 100 Gem entry fee, so if you're good enough you can effectively go infinite. Even a 7 win run still has a chance of going Gem positive, and at worst only puts you down 30 Gems while still granting cosmetics.
Once you factor in all of the free Chests and Ranked Tickets, you'll always end up with something for your efforts. However, if you decide you'd like to support the game financially, subscribing to The Bazaar grants double the amount of Chests per run and makes it easier than ever to earn Gems.
